Chereads / The Witch Memoria [Remake] / Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Infancy

Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Infancy

The night came and Remil was not done with writing her book yet.

Every single day she spends more than 19 hours to write her story.

Being a witch who brings longevity. Remil was born with an immortal body.

She doesn't need any food nor sleep to keep living. No matter how much her body is harmed they heal immediately.

"Hey… C-Can you take over for me for a while?"

The maid asked while smiling awkwardly at the other maid.

"Sure?"

The maid could only answer back while looking confused.

At her answer, the maid then hurriedly handed the baby to her.

"I have something to take care of. I-I'll be back!"

The maid shouted while running out of the room in a hurry.

After seeing the maid run away, she then looked down at the baby in her arms.

The baby who was born alongside the Saintess an hour ago and was born between their beloved masters.

With an unusual eye color staring back at her the maid somehow felt chills in her body, but she tried to brush it off as a cold wind coming in.

"A- Are you not sleepy yet, Lady?"

The maid stuttered as she tried to compose herself.

The maid tried her best to keep her smile on but the baby in her arms only stared at her not even blinking.

With unhanging expression nor a single voice to let out of. The baby in her arms felt like a doll instead of a human.

The maid finally admitted her fear of the baby right now.

[Is this why she ran away?] She grumbled in her head while remembering the maid who ran away in a hurry.

For now, the maid decided to put down the baby on the crib and check on the Saintess first.

Compared to the grey eyed baby, the Saintess looked lovely while she was sleeping peacefully.

Her heart felt like being healed that her fear dissipated.

While trying to babysit them the maid decided to spend the rest of her time embroidering gifts for them.

Unknowingly she sat down in a corner far away from the grey eyed baby.

Hours passed and the maid's shift was almost over. She thought about checking up on the babies one last time.

But after checking up the grey eyed baby, the maid almost fell on her butt from fear.

She almost let out a scream after seeing the grey eyed baby laying so still and being wide awake.

She doesn't know how long the baby has been awake like this.

Its gaze remained on the ceiling not even bothering to let out a sound nor move her arms.

And when the baby's gaze slowly turned on her despite not moving its neck. The maid finally had enough and ran away.

After that, news about the Saintess' twin being creepy has circulated in the whole mansion.

Her inability to drink milk for months and still be alive also added to the servant's fear towards her.

Many servants refused to take care of her, and a lot resigned because of it.

Being the twin sister of the Saintess there's barely any information about her.

So, when the servants who resigned was found out to be servants from the Azraels, they were then bombarded with questions about Remil.

And with a slip of a tongue, Remil's physical traits was disclosed to the public and now the whole kingdom knew about Remil being born with black hair.

Soon speculations about the Countess' infidelity circulated and the servants who spread information about Remil felt guilty about it.

They didn't intent to put the kind Countess on a scandal, so they stopped speaking about Remil from them on.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Despite their fear towards Remil the remaining servants still tried their best to take care of her.

The Countess and Earl's love towards their daughter are also undeniable so they slowly tried to adapt and understand why Remil is that way.

Their fear soon dissipated when the babies started interacting with each other.

The unblinking second lady slowly copied her sister and started blinking as well.

And when the Saintess fell asleep the grey eyes would also try to close her eyes from time to time despite not falling asleep in the end.

It was creepy at first but seeing how clumsy Remil looked as she tried to copy the Saintess.

The servants slowly discovered the cuteness in their unusual miss and accepted her.

They knew that their miss was something special that's why she was born with black hair and grey eyes.

The first ever hair and eye color in their kingdom.

Soon when the twin babies grew up. Remil's cute appearance had completely overshadowed her eccentricity and was now loved by many.

And although they got used to her not needing to eat, Remil still tried her best to eat despite all the throwing up she did.

That made them pity her and somewhat root for her to learn more.

However even if their attitude had changed now. Their past thoughts and actions are not completely erased from one individual's mind.

The servants have no idea that the baby they now love had remembered everything from day one.

The looks she got, the fear, and disgust they felt towards her was engraved in Remil's heart.

Remil refused to be with anyone from that point on.

At a young age of four she felt more at ease to be alone than with others.

And when her passion to become a writer was discovered she vowed to learn more on her own.

Knowing how much she is different from the rest and how it creeped them out to this extent.

She realized it would not be a good thing if she gets found out to be a witch.

Amelia helped Remil a lot by teaching her how to be normal. Although she could no longer copy Amelia because of their differences in personality...

Remil was still grateful to be a part of the society all because of her sister.

Since the very beginning Remil could summon the Book of Life that only she can read and understand.

When she was a baby, she did not know that the book she was reading could not be seen by anyone.

People had only been seeing her looking up at the ceiling not knowing that she was reading a book.

Remil was able to get information about the world despite being a one-day old baby.

But in exchange for that she was able to know what everyone thinks of her and was unconsciously hurt.

Remil never admitted that she was hurt but her avoidance towards others was a clear depiction of her wounds.

And speaking of wounds, Remil thought that if she stays in her room she wouldn't get hurt, bleed, or get injured.

Then no one will know that her body heals quickly like a monster in a storybook.

Remil's current actions was all caused by her secret identity that she never wants to be discovered.

And Remil plans to continue hiding it until all the people she knows had passed on.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When dawn came, Remil realized that another day has passed but she hasn't done the 158th chapter yet.

She walked to her bathroom to wash her face only to discover the mask being washed instead.

"I almost forgot"

Remil mumbled and took off the mask before washing her face again.

When she's done, she then rang the bell and her servants immediately walked in.

Today she will be checking out the garden that was just renovated by her father.

She wore a new mask that compliments the color and design of her dress today.

When she headed out what greeted her was the smiling face of her twin.

"You're awake!"

Amelia shouted happily.

Behind her was the servants who looked at Remil with an apologetic face.

"I'm glad that you're out and about today too! Do you want to join me for some tea?"

Amelia said with an innocent smile on her face but Remil still felt that something is amiss.

And somehow, she got a feeling that this is the same thing that Amelia pulled off for her to meet Teressa.

That day Amelia told Remil to have some tea with her only for Remil to find out that it's not just Amelia in the table but also Teressa.

Teressa turned out to be a good friend and Remil gave her permission to call each other's first names.

They are now friends so there's probably no point to try and trick her unless it's not Teressa that she's meeting up with but someone else.

"I know what you're thinking, Lia. Who is it this time?"

Remil asked with a cold tone which made Amelia flustered.

"Just for today, Rem! Just like last time please meet up with him!"

"Him?"

"Yes, my fiancé! He said he wants to meet you!"

Remil furrowed her brows after learning the whole situation.

She wanted to refuse but the guest is a prince. There's no way for her to go against the royal family.

Remil held her head as if it's aching and Amelia called out to her warily.

So far there's no party that the royalties have held yet. Even if they did it was only for adults and not the kids her age.

Though she had the thought that she might have to attend a party hosted by the royal family even though she's been ignoring the rest.

"Fine. So where should we go?"

Remil reluctantly agreed and asked Amelia.

Amelia then smiled happily and showed her the way.

"Did you also guess that it is today?"

Remil ignored Amelia's curiosity and sat down in the garden.

The prince was still not here so Remil took out her book and started writing.
