Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

The Alpha woke up at 5 am to his usual routine of hitting the gym and going for a run. However, as he ran deeper into the forest, he caught a scent that made his wolf go wild with desire. He ran towards the scent, and upon reaching the border of his pack, he found the source of the alluring aroma. It was fresh and nearby, but it led him outside of his pack's territory and into the neighbouring pack. Despite his wolf's urge to chase the scent, the Alpha managed to control himself and reasoned that they should find out what had happened there.

Upon investigation, he found out that a young girl had been discovered earlier that morning in the same area. She had shifted for the first time and lost control, prompting the two alphas from the neighbouring pack to collect her and take her to their pack. The Alpha was filled with anger and frustration that he hadn't been informed about this situation as the leader of his pack. He couldn't understand why they would take the girl without his permission or knowledge.

As he rushed back to his pack to shower and change, he was consumed by jealousy. He wondered why two alphas from another pack were interested in this girl and felt that she was meant to be his. His mind was in turmoil, and he was determined to get to the bottom of this situation and find out why they had taken her without his knowledge.

Alpha Joseph wanted to make sure he looked his best for the day ahead. He carefully chose his outfit, opting for casual yet elegant clothes that would make him look as fashionable as possible. In his mind, he hoped that his outfit would be impressive enough to catch the attention of his future mate, and that perhaps today would be the day they finally meet. He was eager to bring his Luna back to his pack and make her feel at home.

To ensure a smooth visit, Alpha Joseph brought his beta along with him. The two of them quickly jumped into the car and began the drive towards Jake's pack house. As they approached their destination, Alpha Joseph's heart began to race with excitement and anticipation. He couldn't wait to meet the members of the other pack and hopefully, his future mate.

Joseph arrived at the pack house and could smell a faint scent that had drawn him there. He was hoping that the girl who had crossed the border into his pack earlier that morning would have come to him by now, guided by her wolf. But as he looked around, he couldn't see her anywhere. He walked into the main hall and demanded to see the Alpha.

"Where is she?" Joseph growled, his eyes scanning the room.

The pack members looked at him in surprise, unsure of who he was referring to.

"The girl who crossed the border into my pack this morning," Joseph clarified, his tone becoming more impatient.

The pack members exchanged confused looks before a young wolf stepped forward and said, "I'm sorry, Alpha, but I don't know what you're talking about."

Joseph's eyes narrowed, and he could feel the anger building inside him. "I demand to see the Alpha now," he said firmly.

The young wolf hesitated for a moment before nodding and leading Joseph to the old Alpha's office.

As he entered, he could see the old Alpha sitting behind his desk, looking up at him in confusion. "What can I do for you, Alpha Joseph?" the old Alpha asked.

"I want to know where the girl who crossed the border into my pack is," Joseph said, his voice tight with anger.

The old Alpha furrowed his brow. "I'm not sure what you're talking about, Alpha Joseph. We haven't had any girls cross the border into your pack today."

Joseph's heart sank, and he could feel the frustration building inside him. "I smelled her scent, and it brought me here. I know she crossed the border. Where is she?" he demanded.

The old Alpha shook his head. "I'm sorry, Alpha Joseph, but I don't know what to tell you. We haven't seen any girls crossing the border today."

Joseph could feel his wolf getting restless and agitated, sensing that his mate was close but unable to find her. He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down.

"The girl," Joseph insisted. "She was taken from my territory by the young Alpha, your son, and some other young Alpha. Where is she? What have they done with her?"

The old Alpha's expression grew serious. "I wasn't aware of any of this," he said. "But I'll find out what happened and let you know."

"You do that," he said, his tone cold and clipped. "And make sure you find out soon."he said through gritted teeth.

"But if you're hiding something from me, there will be consequences."

The old Alpha looked at him sternly. "I assure you, Alpha Joseph, we have nothing to hide. But if you have any concerns, I suggest you take them up with the council."

Joseph nodded, still feeling frustrated and disappointed. He turned on his heel and walked out of the office, his beta following closely behind him. As he left the pack house, he couldn't help but wonder where his mate could be and why he couldn't find her.

Joseph is feeling confused and frustrated. He is not able to understand why the scent of his mate keeps leading him on a wild goose chase and ultimately leaving him with no leads. He can't understand why he couldn't find his mate, the one who was meant to be by his side, and the one who would complete him. He starts to question if there is some kind of magic or curse involved in his inability to find her.

As he tried to make sense of what was happening, his wolf spoke to him, urging him to keep searching. "She was here, but she's no longer here," his wolf said, "We need to find her!" Joseph took a deep breath, feeling a glimmer of hope that his mate was still out there somewhere.

But then, another thought crossed his mind, causing him to feel uneasy. "What if she's toying with me?" he muttered to himself. "Appearing in places where I am and then quickly disappearing." He couldn't bear the thought of his mate playing games with him, leading him on only to disappear again.

Despite his doubts and fears, Joseph knew he had to keep searching for his mate. He couldn't give up on the possibility of finding her and building a life together. He took a deep breath, and went back to his pack.

"Jack! Jack!" The old Alpha called through the mind link "Where are you?!"

"I am here" Jack responded walking in to the office

"Where is the girl? Where is Elena?" he asked with urgency in his voice "We must complete the mating ceremony as soon as possible, there is no time to waste..."

"No father" Jack responded calmly and firmly, but the Alpha didn't register his answer at first and went on

"We need to get the pack to gather in the clearing..."

"No, father, she is gone" Jack responded

"What did you say?"

"She is gone father, there will be no mating ceremony, not today, not with Elena"

"But where is she? Can we go and get her?"

"No father, she has left, she is not coming back here. She didn't want to be my mate. "

"Oh, Jack what did you do?! You stupid pup! I cant ask you to get one thing done right?! She would have been perfect for us! She would have made our pack strong! Oh Jack what did you do?!" The old Alpha shouted

"I did what needed to be done father, the right thing." Jack said and left the office
