"Reeve, look out!" Suddenly a voice called out to Reeve.
A paper flew towards the dog-like monster and exploded. The dog-like monster dodged a little, but the blast still hit it, and it looked slightly injured near its neck.
With its neck wounded, the dog-like monster immediately jumped back to keep its distance from Reeve.
Then a figure appeared not far from Reeve. This figure then came out from behind the trees. It was none other than Reeve's father.
"It's a Black Jackal, huh..." Reeve's father looked a little surprised. "A monster with level 20. It's a good thing I was in time."
"Hey, you Reeve, what a brat you are." Reeve's father sighed and looked a bit annoyed. "Get ready when we get home; I'll give you a special lesson, son."
"Uh, wait a minute, a Black Jackal..." Reeve's father seemed to pause his words. He then scanned the surrounding area.
"Reeve, where is the other Black Jackal--"
Before he could continue, Reeve's father, looking at Reeve, saw another Black Jackal suddenly behind Reeve.
This Black Jackal looks different from the one before. It has no wound on its neck, and its body is a bit bigger.
"Reeve, behind you, watch out." Reeve's father shouted to Reeve to warn him.
Reeve then immediately turned around, still holding a machete in his hand. He directly pointed his machete towards the front. Sure enough, his machete at least managed to withstand the Black Jackal's fangs that tried to bite him.
He was pushed backward. Although he managed to prevent the Black Jackal's attack, the push still affected him.
Reeve's father then immediately ran towards Reeve. He threw a knife at the Black Jackal. The Black Jackal dodged and immediately took distance.
"Reeve, my son, are you alright?" Reeve's father asked Reeve in a slightly anxious tone.
"Yes, I'm fine, Dad, but this machete of mine seems quite damaged from clashing with the fangs of that dog-like monster," Reeve replied while showing his machete, which looked a bit damaged.
"Haha, good job, my son." Reeve's father looked proud of his son even though, in his heart, he was actually worried. "Just a machete; I can give you a new one later.
"Dad, what was that explosion earlier?" Reeve asked his father curiously.
"Oh, it's a disposable explosion talisman." Reeve's father explained. "I keep a few just in case of emergency."
"Rather than that, what's more, important is that our situation is not so good. There are two Black Jackals in front of us." Said Reeve's father trying to explain their current situation.
"These monsters are rarely found in packs, as they are solitary monsters. But they will form their own territory when they find a partner. I think this place is their territory." Reeve's father added.
"If it's just one, I think I can do something about that. But if there are two Black Jackals, that's a different matter." Reeve's father looked rather pessimistic about the current situation.
He kept looking at the two Jackals, who seemed to have united in preparation to attack again. Then he looked back at Reeve and the boy, who looked panicked with fear.
"Heyy, kid, what's your name?" Reeve's father suddenly asked the kid.
"Ha..kan..." Still looking scared and shaking, the boy answered softly.
"Oh Hakan, yes, such a good name." Reeve's father seemed to praise the boy a little. Perhaps he was trying to calm the kid down a bit.
"Reeve, use this talisman to leave this place immediately." Reeve's father was seen taking out a paper from under his shirt.
"This is a disposable talisman called Instant Teleportation." Reeve's father said, explaining the function of the object he had given Reeve. "You can teleport in the blink of an eye using this."
"Now, I will tell you how to use a talisman." Reeve's father explained a little to his son. "First, we must make the talisman become our personal property."
"The trick is to drip our blood on the Talisman paper so that the Talisman recognizes us as its owner. You can bite or cut your finger a little to make the blood come out and immediately stick the blood on the surface of the Talisman paper."
"With this, the Talisman has officially become ours. And as for how to use it, we need to say the name of the Talisman, and then it will activate." Reeve's father added.
"You go back to the village to find help; I'll stay here to hold off this monster."
"Since the talisman can only carry two people, take that boy with you, Reeve."
"But father..." Reeve looked a bit hesitant.
"Hurry up already; that monster is preparing to attack again." Reeve's father pointed at the Black Jackal.
"All right, Dad, I'll quickly return here later with help." Reeve then made up his mind. "Until then, please hold on."
"Huh, who do you think your father is." Reeve's father tried to reassure his son with a bit of bragging. "Hurry up already."
"Instant Teleportation!" Reeve shouted, then immediately activated the Talisman in his hand.
"Reeve, I have a message for you; tell your mother, son. This morning was the best and most delicious breakfast of my life." Reeve's father shouted to Reeve, slightly turning his head and smiling a little.
"Father.. you…" Reeve, who looked like he wanted to say something, had no chance because the scene in front of him turned into a blindingly bright white. Reeve could only close his eyes.
As soon as the blinding white scene disappeared, Reeve opened his eyes. It turned out that he was close to the village. He then immediately returned to his village with a frightened child, Hakan.
"Uncle.. uncle.. please save my father immediately!" Reeve ran to the entrance of his village shouting and carrying Hakan on his back.
He told his experience to those on guard at the village gate just now. They immediately rushed to check on Reeve's father's place to help him.
But once they arrived at Reeve's father's place, it turned out that Reeve's father was already dead with a slightly bowed and smiling face.
