Chapter 7 - Nicolas alfonso

The days passed by, as usual, I stayed at school, work, and home. Sometimes I go out with my friends.

Currently I'm on my way to the school, When I entered school, I went straight to my locker to put away the books I brought. when I opened it, I sigh, there were letters and flowers, this pass few this I been receiving this thing and asking me if they want to be my prom date.

I locked my locker and went straight to the classroom. I was at a door when I heard them saying

"Say yes, say yes," my classmates said.

And I saw Kat standing in front with a banner that read:

"Gray, be my prom date."

I didn't realize that Ma'am was standing next to me. The others fell silent and returned to their seats while I went straight to mine. As I walked towards my seat, our eyes met with Gray's, so I looked away, and sit listeng to the discussion of our teacher

The two subjects ended, and the boys are nowhere to be found, leaving only the four of us girls.

"Maybe you're not the one Gray was referring to as his prom date, Kat," Phoebe said.

"No," Kat replied, her voice trembling.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Kat thought she was the one Gray was talking about when he mentioned his prom date to Blake. She thought Gray was just shy to ask her, but it seems Gray has already asked someone else," Phoebe explained.

"Please help me, Em. Convince Gray and find out who his prom date is," Kat pleaded angrily.

"I don't know, Kat. You know Gray, he doesn't listen to what we say," Jane interjected.

"Yeah, Kat, hehehe," i agreed with what jane said.

"Tsk, you don't want to help me, especially you, Em. This is the only thing I'm asking for, and you still refuse," Kat said, sounding a bit resentful.

I couldn't do anything but nod.

"Yay, Em, you're the best," she said and hugged me.

What should I do now? Should I just tell gray that I rejected him, instead he should ask kat to be his prom date?

I told them that I wouldn't join them for lunch because I had something important to do. Instead, I would go secretly to the rooftop of our school to think things through.

I stood alone on the rooftop, feeling the gentle caress of the cool breeze on my face. Lost in thought, I couldn't help but feel the unfairness of the situation. I had said yes to Gray as his prom date, but I didn't want Kat to find out and get upset with me.

"What should I do? Gray? Kat? Gray? Kat?"

I sighed. Suddenly, someone startled me. Shit! When I looked behind me, it was Nicolas Alfonso, the captain of our school's basketball team, smirking at me. In response, I punched him in the face for surprising me.

"Ouch!" he exclaimed.

"You deserve it," I said, and he just laughed.

"What are you doing here, Miss Emily Cruz? Do you know that it's not allowed to come up here?" he asked.

"Oh, look who's talking. What are you doing here?" I retorted.

"I was sleeping, but there's a girl who suddenly enters and talks to herself," he said, moving towards the edge of the rooftop. That's why I didn't see him when I came in.

I hadn't realized that I was so deep in thought that I was actually talking to myself.

"Oh, so you know how to sleep, I thought you only knew how to chase after girls and go climbing every night," I said to him, as he was famousĀ  of the rumored around campus that he was a playboy

"Duh, I'm not a playboy, okay? That's just gossip trying to ruin my reputation," he replied.

"Well then, why don't you do anything about those rumors spreading?" I asked, moving closer to him.

"It's simple. I don't care about what people think of me," he said.

"Really?" I said skeptically.

"Yeah, it's true. I'm actually a good boy," he bragged.

Suddenly, we heard footsteps. Nicolas quickly pulled me towards the back wall, and we peeked to see who entered. It was the strict school principal!

"Go around the school, find Nicolas, and if you see any students, take down their names. We'll give them a warning. It's time for class, and they're wandering all over campus," the principal ordered.

Shit! It's time already.

"Well, goodbye, Ms. Emily. When we meet again, I'll collect the debt you owe me," he said. Huh? I owe him a debt? When did that happen?

I didn't realize he had slipped out of our hiding spot and approached the principal.

"MR. ALFONSO!!!" the principal shouted.

"You're so noisy, old man. Let's go to your office so you can punish me," he said.

They left, and Nicolas suddenly looked in my direction, flashing a smirk. So, that's what he meant by the debt I owe him.

I waited for a few minutes before running downstairs and heading straight to our classroom.

I quietly entered the classroom with a mix of relief and apprehension. My classmates were already seated, their faces a blend of curiosity and amusement as they noticed my slightly disheveled appearance. I quickly took my seat, hoping to avoid any unnecessary attention.

As the teacher began the lesson, my mind wandered back to the encounter with Nicolas on the rooftop. Is he okay? I wonder what he did, that the principal had to look for him.

Class proceeded as usual, but I found it difficult to concentrate. Thoughts of the upcoming masquerade ball and

Kat's request continue to occupy my mind. I glanced at Kat, who seemed lost in her own thoughts, and wondered how she would react if she discovered the truth about Gray asking me to be his prom date.

I didn't realize that class was already over, as the bell rang. I gathered my belongings and hurriedly made my way out, hoping to catch a moment alone to clear my head. However, Gray caught up with me.

"Emily, can we talk?" he asked.

"Sure, Gray," I replied.

We found a spot in the back of the building, away from prying eyes and eager ears. Gray took a deep breath before speaking.

"Emily, I know that Kat is trying to convince you all to convince me to be her prom date, but I don't want that. I have made up my mind that you are my prom date, and there's nothing they can do about it," Gray said.

I sighed. I knew I couldn't force Gray anymore. I smiled and said, "Okay."

"Good, and my sister said she will take your measurements for your gown tomorrow. Don't worry, I'll accompany you," he said.

"Thank you, Gray," I said, and we went home together.

I made my decision too. I will just message Kat that gray don't want to be her prom date, and tell her on Monday. Today is Friday, and there are no classes tomorrow. I still need the courage to say it to her.

When I got home, I messaged Kat about Gray. After that, someone notified me that someone added me on Facebook, and it was Nicolas Alfonso. I accepted the request and stalked his profile for a bit. Hahaha, what kind of profile is this? There are bear designs and old-looking letters.

I was busy stalking him when suddenly someone messaged me, it was Nicholas Alfonso.

Nicholas: Hi em (with a smiley emoji)

Me: Hello, is this really you? Maybe this is a fake account?

He suddenly called, and I answered.

"Is this face fake? Everything here is natural," he said, and I laughed.

"I didn't know, I thought you had a fan at our school who made an account and messaged me to prank me."

"Hahahah, I only have two accounts, the one with many followers and this one. I add my close friends here, but please don't spread the word about this account. It's our little secret. The other account has too many people messaging me whom I don't even know."

"So, we're close now?" I jokily said.

"Of course, we are. Ever since I saved you earlier, we became close," he said.

"If we're already close, then I don't owe you anything for saving me," I said.

"No, you still owe me something," he said, hinting that he wants me to do something.

"Alright, what do you want me to do?"

"Hmmmm, I haven't thought of anything yet. I'll let you know when I come up with something."

Our conversation continued, but he had to end it because his mom was calling him. I checked if Kat replied to me, but she just left me on seen.

I sighed, turned off my phone, and went to sleep.
