Upon entering the house, I was met with beautiful cream marble and a gold chandelier.
The foyer was large in size with various statues of the previous heads of the Grey family.
But what caught my attention the most wasn't the the statues or the enormous chandelier, but was the beautiful staircase that took up the majority of the space oddly enough.
There were two sets of spiralling stairs, also made of marble but had black detailing adorning the handles.
Just by looking up, I could tell that each staircase led to different floors. The whole house was marvellously made and according to the novel, it was mostly made by hand which took years to build.
Donellan hadn't made any new touches to the home besides his office since he didn't care much for things like interior designs (not that it should be a surprise to anyone).
Hecate who had made his way back to the house, instructed someone to go get dinner ready since it had gotten pretty late.
Donellan finally put me down and asked a maid to bring me to my room and get me ready for dinner.
"Hello young master Simuel, my name is Noor, I will be taking care of you today."
"Thank you Noor, I shall be in your care." I replied with a smile.
Noor then took me by the hand and guided me to the second floor. Making my way upstairs, the second floor was just as magnificent as the first one.
I was met with a wall filled with paintings ranging from portraits to landscapes. We passed by three doors until she stopped and opened the door.
"This will be your room." She stated.
I entered the room that was going to be mine and couldn't help but gasp under my breath.
Although the room was simpler than what I had just seen, it was still quite nice.
The walls were painted in a light beige colour and the bed was twice as big as the one back home.
Actually I don't think I've ever had the luxury of seeing a bed this big, let alone sleeping in one. The sheets were in a navy blue colour made of satin, and it was decorated to fit a 6 year old boy.
There was a corner in the room that was filled with toys and a bookshelf which contained a good amount of books.
I couldn't help but smile upon seeing the shelves filled with books. Donellan might be a little cold and detached, but he paid attention to the things his son liked.
"Young master Simuel, since you've made quite the journey, I would recommend taking a bath before dinner. " Noor said in a soft voice.
I glanced back at her and finally noticed that she had been patiently waiting for me to finish taking in the room.
Although she did not smile, I could tell she was happy by her eyes. Noor had soft features, almost baby-like so it hard to figure out how old she might be.
She had a calm aura to her which also matched her overall appearance. Her brown her looked a little dull but it went well with her face considering how ethereal her appearance already was.
Her eyes were really what made Noor stand out. Emerald green, they looked like jewels, just by gazing at her eyes you could tell what kind of mood she was in.
Since I was feeling a little groggy from the long carriage ride, I felt like taking a bath would invigorate me and get my spirits back to normal so I agreed.
After the bath, Noor dressed me in a simple yet elegant blouse, alongside pants and comfortable shoes. She then proceeded to put the ring back on my finger.
Compared to Gwendolyn who liked bolder looks, Noor catered to my taste quite well. Without me having to ask, she knew I wanted to wear something comfortable.
I smiled and thanked her in which she smiled back.
I honestly liked Noor very much even though we had just met.
After getting dressed, there was a knock at the door and I could hear the sound of the door opening. Hecate peeked in asking if everything was alright.
"Yes everything's fine." I said.
"Good. Dinner is ready so please make your way down."
At the mention of dinner, my stomach started to growl.
Luckily it wasn't too loud, but I had a feeling that Hecate definitely heard my stomach growling considering the smug look on his face at the moment.
Since I had already been discovered and had my fair share of embarrassment for today, I decided to own it.
I grabbed Noor by the hand and walked passed him making my way down the hall.
I obviously wouldn't be able to find the dinning room if I didn't have Noor with me and I didn't want to have to ask Hecate either. Hecate on the other hand didn't say anything but he had an amused expression on his face.
We made it to the dinning room, and Donellan was already at the table but hadn't touched any of the food. It looked like he was waiting for me which warmed by heart considering how in the past, I would come home to the food being half gone and I was left eating the leftovers.
"Are you feeling alright?" Donellan asked me, his face looking serious.
"I'm fine father, there's no need to worry" I replied back with a reassuring smile.
Donellan didn't say much after that but urged me to eat. The food was delicious and I could help but do a little happy dance at how good it was.
Donellan who had been watching Simuel the whole time couldn't help but smile a little.
The staff who were present, Hecate included, couldn't help but be surprised by this scene considering how cold their master usually was.
Hecate had seen the little master when he was a baby but not much after that since he had a mission he needed to complete for his family before his return back to the estate.
This mission however took him longer than he had anticipated and therefore he didn't have the honour of watching the little master grow up. He had heard that he had a weak body which prevented him from welding the sword in the future.
Knowing this, he felt sorry for the little master since he was born into a family where their whole life purpose was wielding one.
He had also heard that because of this situation, Donellan had grown even colder. But seeing this scene play out before him, brought great confusion to him. Even though he was confused, he was still happy for this sudden development.
Contrary to his usual attitude, he actually had affection for his master and was curious as to how his usually cold and devoid of emotion master could now smile like that. He turned and looked at the little master. He must be the reason he thought.
This aroused a certain interest for the boy within him.
Simuel on the other hand, felt a sudden chill run down his spine again.
