"Ugh watch where you're going."
A cold yet soft voice said to me.
We immediately met each other's eyes and the person who I really didn't want to see looked at me in surprise.
"You—" He started to say but I quickly cut him off.
"If you'll excuse me, I have to go." I said rather curtly. The boy looked rather taken aback by my abruptness and didn't say anything for a couple of seconds.
I took advantage of this and tried to make my way pass him but he quickly got out of his daze and moved to the side to prevent me from leaving. I gave him annoyed glance my face giving a 'are you serious right now' kind of look. He looked slightly embarassed by that but soon his face returned its usually smugness.
"You have some nerve thinking I'll let you get away after the way you treated me last time. Simuel Grey." He said with a scowl on his face.
"Oh so you know my name." I said looking very much bored with this conversation.
"Of course, there isn't a single thing I don't know." He said proudly.
"Good for you. Look I apologize for what happened last time. I didn't mean to offend you, so could we move pass this.. whatever you name is?" I said in hopes that he would be a reasonable person and let me go.
He sneered at my comment. "You don't even know who I am?"
Um… is this guy serious? Am I suppose to know every single person who ever existed in this novel?
I gave this boy a once over and could tell that he definitely wasn't a commoner, let alone a low ranking noble.
I remembered our visit at the palace and thought at the time that he could be one of the King's children but which one, I wasn't sure. The King or his family weren't discussed much in the novel and I didn't care enough to know this guy's identity at the time.
Then again, I didn't want to go around offending the wrong kind of people hence the reason why I apologized.
I guess from the look on my face, the boy could tell I really didn't know who he was. He felt weirdly frustrated by the lack of interest I had for him.
In frustration, he said "I am Amethyst Killian, second son of King Aeneas. Don't you ever forget!"
So he was one of the King's son's. Upon closer look, he did have the same blue/black hair as most people from the royal family. He really was a beautiful boy and would only grow to become even more beautiful.
It was such a shame since he such a horrible personality I thought.
"Right Prince Amethyst I'm sorry for mistaking you for a doll. You do have a rather pretty face so I couldn't help comparing you to one." I said seriously.
Amethyst blushed at my comment. He felt incredibly flustered. Of course he had been called pretty and beautiful before but it felt different coming from Simuel.
Soon after that Donellan appeared. He looked a little worried since I still hadn't come out after 20 minutes.
He had finished his appointment a little earlier and so came to find his son when Laetitia told him he was still finding a book even though it had been awhile. I was relieved to see him.
"Father why are you here? ." I asked while hugging his leg. He looked down and patted me on the head.
"It ended a little early so I came to get you. What was taking you so long?" He then turned to look at Amethyst who hadn't moved a single inch since Donellan had arrived.
He gave him a once over then proceeded to bring his attention back to me.
"I was chatting with Prince Amethyst for a little. I didn't realize I took so long." I said. He picked me up in his arms and finally faced the prince properly.
"I didn't realize you two were familiar with each other." He said to him.
Amethyst finally moved from his position and addressed Donellan.
"We met at the library in the palace, we quickly became friends." He said while shooting him a charming smile.
Wow what a liar and a deceiver, I thought to myself. This boy really had guts to lie to Donellan like that, especially when Donellan had the ability to detect lies.
However Donellan didn't show any signs of this and looked rather amused with the little boy.
He looked at me and then back at the boy and said something that surprised the both of us.
"Well since you guys are friends, feel free to come over and play, with your father's permission of course."
Although Donellan didn't look particularly angry, he didn't look too happy either. I could tell this was his way of testing the boy.
Donellan did this often, especially with people who tried to get close to Simuel.
I looked at Amethyst wondering what he would say and he gave Donellan the biggest smile that could melt the coldest of hearts (of course Donellan excluded) and said: "I'll definitely let my father know. I better get going.
It was nice seeing you Sir Grey" He said and gave me a quick glance before leaving.
Both father and son looked at each and a slow smile crept on my face.
This boy got guts I thought yet again.
