Chapter 29 - Nix (II)

"Green dress?"

I turned to look at Donellan.

"Yes, a green dress. I don't know if it's of any importance, but the dress wasn't the traditional dresses you would see noble ladies wear. It was pretty fitted. "

Donellan's face suddenly turned black and everyone in that room could tell he was angry. I've seen Donellan get angry before, it was kind of a daily occurrence at this point, but I've never seen him this angry before. Which made me dumbfounded but also curious as well. What could be the reason for his anger? I mean I know I'm technically his son and it situations like this you'd worry about the well being of your child, but it seemed liked there was much more than worry in Donellan's attitude. It felt like there was something he knew, like he knew the identity of the woman in green. Just as I was about to ask him, Ms. Levinseon cleared her throat to get our attention back.

"I think this is something we'll need to investigate further, since this situation isn't as simple as we thought it would be." She then closed her eyes and called out her second familiar "Nix!"

Suddenly, a flashing blue lights appeared in front of us, almost blinding me. Then a couple seconds later, a figure appeared from the light. I could vaguely see the silhouette of a young man emerged from the blinding light. Then we heard a soft and serene voice speak.

"You called?" Finally I could get a good look of the young man.

Nix had beautiful, shiny black locs that cascaded down his back, and sharp black eyes with gold specks residing in his orbs. He had a rather pale complexion that made him look a little sickly but also gave him an almost superlunary appearance. His clothes contrasted sublimely with his porcelain skin. He was dressed in a diaphanous black tunic, that accentuated his slim yet muscular figure. He truly looked otherworldly. The same was applicable to Nella as well. While Nix looked like a prince of darkness, Nella looked like the goddess of light. With Nix' beguiling features, Nella contrasted well with her delicate looks that could warm the coldest of hearts. She had striking white hair, whiter than snow, and a honey like complexion which gave her a healthy glow. The both of them looked sticking standing next to each other like that. But if I had to pick the one who caught my eye the most, it would be Nix. He screamed dark and brooding beauty which I appreciated a lot. Since I had been staring at him for a little too long, Ms. Levinseon cleared her throat in order to get my attention again. She couldn't help but laugh a little at how cute the boy looked staring at her familiar like that. Usually Nella was the one to get the most stares, so this was a bit of a surprise to see. She turned to look at her moody familiar and back at Simuel.

"He's magnificent isn't he? Most people react to same way to my familiars, I've had instances where some people fainted." She laughed wholeheartedly.

Since I had been found out, I smiled sheepishly. I could feel my cheeks burning up a little bit, but quickly controlled my expression. Nix who had been observing Simuel since his staring fiasco, smiled a little.

He proceeded to clear his throat when he realized what he had just done.

"I understand what I need to do. Let's not waste any time and get started." He said quickly.

He turned to look at Ms. Levinseon, sighed then turned to look at me. I was a little startled for a second because of how intense this guy was. Without hesitating, he pushed me down on the bed, put his hand over my eyes, and whispered a string of words under his breath. "Tenebitur planta est lux in tenebris et in umbra mortis agnus viventem, guide pedes meos in semita luminis." I soon lost consciousness after he said that.

I woke up in what looked to be a forest. It was vast in size and had a sombre atmosphere to it. I looked up dumbfounded since I wasn't familiar with this place at all but I could tell this place wasn't a figment of my imagination but was in fact real. Coming to the conclusion that standing here wouldn't amount to anything nor would it get me out of this place, I decided start walking. Maybe I'd be able to find something that could get me out of here. As I kept walking, I could feel the air getting thinner, and it was getting harder to breath. It felt like the more I walked, the more suffocated I felt, but I had an inkling that the answers I needed where going to be found in the direction I was walking in so I calmed myself down, and slowed my breathing so I wouldn't be taking too much air in. I finally saw a house up ahead. The house looked huge, it was about the same size as the Domus Alba.

The closer I got to the house, the more it started to feel vaguely familiar to me. But I couldn't understand why it felt so familiar considering how different it was to the house I'd been in these past couple days. It still had that signature white colour to it, but something felt off about it. It felt like the whole area was surrounded by darkness, it almost had a sinister air to it. Despite the fear I felt the closer I got to the house and the very evident goosebumps I had on my arms, I kept walking and made to attempt to stop. For some odd reason, it felt like someone was watching me from behind but the feeling was so faint, I thought I was imagining it. I finally reached the entrance of the house and turned the doorknob to let myself in. But before I could do that, I felt a hand on my shoulder. Startled, I almost screamed when suddenly a hand covered my mouth.

I turned around to look at the assailant, when I came face to face with Nix. I felt a little relieved but also became alarmed. What the heck was this guy doing here? As if sensing my confusion, Nix whispered. "Be quiet for now. I'll explain everything to you later." He took me by the hand rather brusquely, and guided me away from the door and towards the back of the house. I didn't say anything and let him drag me away. I knew that there had to be a reason why we didn't directly enter the house so I kept quiet and let him do what he wanted. I had a suspicion that things would only get more complicated if I defied him. As soon as we got to the back of the house where the entrance of the garden in sight, Nix let go of my hand.

Looking almost impatient he said: "This is a memory from inside your head. We are currently inside it and making any rash moves could affect your psyche."

"One wrong move, and you could die."
