Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Dr. Barnacle and Hanks left the room to allow Egan to get some rest, outside the door they discussed in low tones how they were going to convince Egan's mom to let him

come with them.

"You've got a point there Hanks," said Dr. Barnacle.

"That kid's got potential, and if he continues staying with them he's gonna lose it," said Hanks sadly nodding his head.

"I'm guessing he's gotta have to stay with me, I could look after the boy," said Dr. Barnacle.

"No way Doc, I could look after the boy, my wife, and I," said Hanks.

"Look at you, you can scarcely afford to feed yourself and grandkid and you wanna take him in" Dr. Barnacle chuckled

"What about you?" Quizzed Hanks, "Are you any better than me?" He asked. "Your house is always in a mess whenever I come around to visit, you barely even have time for yourself," Hanks said raising his voice a little louder than a whisper.

Dr. Barnacle noticed that people were starting to come out of their various rooms to see what was happening, he quietly whispered to Hanks that they continue the discussion in his office.

"You don't seem to get me Hank, you always jump to conclusions before hearing the full story," Dr. Barnacle said as they got to his office.

"So what is your point now?" Asked Hanks, "Hire him a nanny?

"Of course not you moron, what do you think he is a toddler?" Dr. Barnacle asked laughing, Hanks joined in too.

"So how do you intend to go about it?" Hanks asked.

"This is what I'm suggesting after we get the boy out of his mother's house, I'll convince my son to take him in, you know he said something about his son wanting a brother, Egan can be his brother," Dr. Barnacle said with a note of finality.

"This is a good idea doc, but how are you sure your son would like to take him in?" Hanks asked.

"Leave that to me, he always listens to me so it should be easy," said Dr. Barnacles.

"Okay doc, if you say so"

"Blimey! Look at the time it's past 10 p.m my wife's gonna kill me," Hanks said getting up to leave.

"Goodnight doc, see you in the morning," Hanks said as he made to go.

"Goodnight my friend," said Dr. Barnacle as he saw him off.

Cobalt Comet sat in the lab pondering over some thoughts, his whole life, and how he got to be a speedster; it was kind of complicated although he wasn't from the world he was in where he was revered as one the best heroes. He was from Earth 1. How he got to Earth 2 was a mystery, he remembered everything from his time on Earth 2, the only thing stopping him from going back was that he wasn't sure if his family were still alive. Cobalt Comet's real name was Donalbain, he was an athlete during his time on Earth 1, he was fast and liked to run. He had won every race he participated in. One morning he had left the house for his usual morning jog, his wife had advised him not to go out that morning but he didn't listen. According to her, it was drizzling outside, and she suggested he stayed with her and Clara their daughter till the rain stops. Donalbain was a man who always did his will, most especially when he felt it favored him. Clara was three years old then.

Donalbain put on his shoes, kissed his wife and daughter goodbye, and promised to see them in an hour.

"I'll be back in an hour," he said as he stepped on the porch.

"Be careful, don't forget to seek shelter" she called out after him.

Clara began to cry because she didn't want her father to go the mother comforted her as she went back inside the house.

Donalbain started in the rain, it was just a drizzle. As he ran the rain became heavier. He wanted to go back at a point but he discarded the thought and kept on running. Their Olympics were fast approaching and he had been duly selected to represent the country in it. He saw it as an honor given his past achievements and the fact that he's never lost a race made it even more pleasant. When he was about 5 miles away from home, he tried to seek shelter but there were no houses nearby where he could seek shelter, he was cold, and he wished he had listened to his wife, he didn't have a choice at the moment so he kept on running in the rain, as he ran something happened. There was a tornado coming in his direction that destroyed everything in its path. Donalbain saw the incoming danger and made a rub for, he wasn't fast enough as he sprained his ankle. He couldn't run fast again, he could only limp and it hurt him so badly.
