Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

The shop bell rang soon. It was Dr. Crimson. She had to come to see if she could lay her on any antique as she had a vast collection of artifacts. Mr. Phay soon looked up from what he was doing and smiled when he saw who it was.

"Good morning Dr. Crimson, what brings you by this morning?" Mr. Phay asked.

"Good morning Mr. Phay, you know, the usual." Dr. Crimson said with a wink before proceeding forward.

"Ahh" Mr Phay said smiling, "A new one came in this morning by the way" he added.

"Really, where is it then?" She asked.

"At the back, I'll take you there," Mr. Phay said.

They both went to be back of the shop where he kept these antiques,

"There, that's the one," Mr. Phay said as they got there.

Dr. Crimson brought it down with the help of Mr. Phay and began to examine it carefully; she found it intriguing as she could've sworn it moved.

"I'll take it," she said, getting up.

"Oh, yeah, I knew you'd like it," Mr. Phay said, pushing his glasses up the bridges of his nose a little.

"How much?" Dr. Crimson asked.

"$2,000," Mr. Phay said.

"$2,000" Dr. Crimson queried, "that's highway robbery"

"Okay, how much are you willing to pay for it?"

Dr. Crimson seemed to think about it for a while before she made her decision.

"$1,000, I'll give you "$1,000 and I'm not going any higher than that, except you don't wanna sell it to me." Dr. Crimson said

"Alright," Mr. Phay said defeated, "Bring what you have, but it's only because it's you."

Dr. Crimson reached for her purse in her bag, counted $1,000, and handed it over to Mr. Phay who counted it to make sure it was complete.

"Have a good day Mr. Phay," Dr. Crimson said as made for the door.

"Ok Doctor, you too."

Mr. Phay sat down and began to think, "I should have sold it at a higher price, but at least it's better than nothing." He soon went about his normal duties.

Dr. Crimson drove to Tempest Lab, for that was where she worked. She parked her car in the Lab's garage. She hurriedly grabbed her bag and locked the doors of the car as she was already late, she would come back for the antique later. She hurriedly ran through the flight of stairs that led to the elevator.

Ray was running some tests on an object they found on a crime scene a few days ago when Dr. Crimson walked in.

"Hey Doc, what's up?" Ray asked deeply engrossed in what he was doing.

"Hey Ray, good morning, didn't see you there," Dr. Crimson said as walked in. "What're you working on?"

"Just running some diagnostics on a sample from the crime scene the other"

"Speaking of diagnostics, where is Nikka?" Dr. Crimson asked.

"Oh! She went out to grab some coffee I guess" Ray said.

"Ok"

Nikka soon came back with three mugs of coffee and some snacks,

"Hi Dr. Crimson, what's up?" Nikka asked.

"Thank goodness, about time," Ray said getting up from his seat,

"What is it?"

"I was waiting for you to come back with the coffee,"

Nikka dropped the coffee on the table and everyone took theirs.

"I almost forgot, Nikka, could you help me with something?" Dr. Crimson asked.

"And, what would that be?"

"I got something in my car, and I'd like for you to help me bring it in, it's heavy and I can't carry it alone."

"Sure doc, let's go," Nikka said.

Nikka went with Dr. Crimson to get what was in her car.

"So, what's this stuff all about?" Nikka asked as they made their way through the elevator.

"Well, it's an antique, a statue I bought this morning from Mr. Phay. I felt it move. So I wanna run some tests on it to confirm my suspicions, you never can tell."

They got to where the car was parked and Dr. Crimson opened the car. She opened the boot where the antique was and Nikka was surprised at what she saw.

"Wait, what? You can't be serious doc." Nikka said in disbelief.

"Yes Nikka, I got a feeling it's alive, that's what moved me to buy it in the first place." Dr. Crimson said.

"Alright fine," Nikka said.

They both carried it up the stairs, through the elevator and finally, they made it to the lab.
