Ch 7 - Cybernetic Mother Ship

"It can't be... So everything I did was in vain..." she muttered in a gloomy tone. Her disappointment was clear on her face.

I frowned in confusion.

"I don't get it. Why are you looking for him? He was evil. Even if he is still alive, I'm not sure he will help you," I told her. I had witnessed all of his cruelty and his craziness, he even didn't hesitate to kill children. There's no way he would help her for whatever reason.

"Although you are the hero, since I already took you, I will explain it. But not now..." She raised her device on her wrist and clicked it. It projected a hologram map with some red dots in it. "I think the Cybernetic's reinforcement has arrived and they're looking for us."

Once again she waved her hand to me.

"Hop on. We'll talk later," she said.

"Are you sure about that?"I made sure. Although I preferred to check on her goal first, roaming around in this unknown world without a guide was the same as suicide.

"Yes. Dark Lord or not, I can't let you stay here alone," she said. "Besides, I can't let those Cybernetic turn you into their source of power again."

I frowned again.

"Source of power?" I repeated in confusion.

"I will explain it later. Now, hop on!" she said once again.

I did her request and sat behind her.

She wore her helmet again.

"Hold on tight! Those Cybernetics are right behind us!" Without further ado, Ryder started to move, but rather than move on the ground. Ryder's wheels didn't touch the forest floor at all. It levitated around 1 meter above the ground, so the bushes weren't a problem for us.

The wind hit my face hard, showing how fast we moved. Ryder was truly incredible. This was the coolest thing I've ever ridden, except for my first flying experience of course.

But my happiness didn't last long, my eyes could catch the first cyborg that was riding something similar to Ryder beside us. Then a second one appeared. Third one. Fourth and so on.

The cyborgs were getting more and more. I wasn't sure we could escape.

"Hold on. I will speed up!" Shea shouted.

We were moving like a wind, cutting through the bushes, making zig-zag maneuvers through the trees. But the cyborgs still kept following us. They must have been using some sort of tracking system.

I was trying to figure out how many cyborgs we had to deal with. But it was impossible to count them. There were too many trees blocking our view.

To make it worse, I could see a huge ship above us. Maybe, it was some kind of their mother ship or something.

"They're coming closer," Shea warned.

I knew what she meant. The cyborgs were closing in. Soon enough they would surround us.

"How many of them are there?" I asked. She should have the same tracking device as them.

"I don't know exactly," she replied. "There are probably two hundred of them."

Two hundred? That was too much.

"We have to do something," I warned. "Soon or later they will catch us."

"You're right," she agreed. "But how?" Her three drones wouldn't be able to fight them.

"Leave it to me. Whatever what happens, just concentrate on the front!" I ordered.

"Got it!" She said.

I turned my head to the side and prepared to attack them with my skill.

'Mass Slow Down!' I used my skill. The cyborgs slowed down instantly. The gravity pulled them down, and as a result, they moved like a snail.

"Now!" I yelled.

Shea accelerated the speed. We sped up, leaving the cyborgs behind.

"Woohoo! You rock, Axl!" Shea shouted happily.

I thought our problem had finished, likewise with Shea. But I was wrong.

The mother ship suddenly lighted us up. Dozens of heavy laser weapons appeared and all of them were aimed at us.

"Surrender now! Or we will destroy you!" A male robotic voice shouted at us.

'Okay, that's definitely not good news.' My Slow Down skill was useless since they still could reach us with their laser. Meanwhile, attacking them with my area skill and dragging that huge ship down was the same as suicide. If they crashed, the impact would be enormous. It would bury us alive.

What should I do? I couldn't think of anything else.

Suddenly, an idea crossed my mind.

"So you know any good hiding places around here? Something underground?" I asked her with a loud voice.

She answered with a short silence before she opened her voice.

"I think I know one!" Shea shouted.

"Good! How far is it?" I asked again.

"Around five minutes from here," she answered.

"You have five minutes then!" Without further ado, I opened my dragon wings. This was what I liked about my Dragon Guardian Armor. I could hide my wings and summon them at my will so they didn't take too much attention.

[You have activated your dragon wings]

A pair of dragon wings appeared on my back. "Hide!" I commanded. Then I flapped my wings and brought my body upward.

Shea stopped Ryder in response and lifted her head to look at me.

"What are you doing? Are you crazy? It's their mother ship!" she yelled at me.

"I know! That's why I told you to hide!" I shouted again before I flapped my wings to fly higher. I could see she did what I told her and drove as fast as she could to get out there.

Once I got higher it detected me. All the laser weapons blinked in red and started to shoot a red laser at me.

I dodged them by flapping my wings. One of the red lasers missed me by inches.

"Shit!" I cursed. If I took that attack, I would fall from this height!

I flew faster, pushing myself to the top of my speed.

Seconds passed, as I was getting closer, the mother ship was getting bigger and bigger. I was almost there, but the lasers were becoming more frequent and intense. It was getting harder and harder for me to dodge the lasers.
