Ch 13 - Where I Belong?

"Oh, okay," I said. I had no clue about how far the price had changed since they were using a new currency. "I'll fix the drones for you. Just buy the components," I added.

"Okay," she replied.

"What kind of drones do you have?" the shopkeeper suddenly asked.

"Battle drones," answered Shea. "There are three of them."

"Battle drones?" the shopkeeper repeated in disbelief before she turned to me. "You can fix battle drones by yourself? Are you planning to go to a workshop around here? I can give you a recommendation."

Again, I leaned toward Shea without shifting my gaze from the shopkeeper.

"A person can't fix a battle drone alone?" I whispered.

"No. At least not without tools or machines. And it usually takes a long time," she answered without hesitation. " Likewise with War Machine like Ryder. That's why I was shocked when you can fix Ryder in a few seconds. Moreover, you need hard training to have that ability," she replied in a low voice.

"Ow." I quietly returned to my position and grinned innocently. Yeah, with my Quick Learn talent I could do anything. In the past, this talent was the reason why I could help the civilians and villagers to rebuild their homes and houses or even rebuild the town although it consumed my magic power like crazy.

"Is it a yes?" the shopkeeper asked curiously.

"You can say so," I replied.

But Shea poked my side with her elbow.

"No. We have an acquaintance to do it. His workshop is in this city," she quickly said.

"Oh, I see. " The shopkeeper turned around. "Then I will give you some recommendations to upgrade your battle drones."

As the shopkeeper explained, Shea spoke again.

"You will need a certificate to fix drones and war machines. Fixing them without it is against the law."

"Why?" I asked.

"Because costume battle drones and war machines are illegal. So they need to track all mechanics and repairmen. This is how they do it," she explained.

Well, it explained everything.

"I see. I will remember that," I answered her.

"So what do you want to buy?" asked the shopkeeper, turning around to us.

"You have enough money for this, right?" I made sure once again. My gaze was on Shea.

She smiled dryly in reply.

"Of course I am. Didn't I already say who I am?" she said.

"Right." I shifted my gaze to the shopkeeper again. "We need a Y-567 component, three N7187-1150 components, a B3D-23 component, and an E4C-1000 component."

"Oh, I didn't know you need a lot of them," said the shopkeeper in shock. "I will get it for you." Then she left.

"Great. Can you take your drones out?" I asked to Shea.

"What are you going to do?" Shea asked. Still, she did my request.

"I need to check them out for a second. Cover me from the cameras," I said as I glanced at the robotic cameras on the ceiling.

"Got it," said Shea.

Once the drones were out of her inventory, we put them on a workstation.

'Quick Learn!' I used my skill to battle drones.

[ Drones: Guardian]

[ Class: Drones]

[ Size: Flexible]

[ Type: Battle Drones]

[ Weight: 50 KG]

[ Armaments: Three Laser Gun, one Missile Launcher, two Plasma Cannon, three Plasma Shield]

[ Speed: 100]

[ Ability: Charge Shot]

[ Range: 10 meters]

[ Status: all the weapons, shields, and missiles were destroyed after the impact.]

After I received all the information, I used my other skill.

'Fix!'

[ The target will receive an upgrade to its current state.]

[ The target will be upgraded according to its current status.]

[ The user must have enough mana available.]

"I still need some components," I said once I finished fixing them. "Two General components Y-567, A weapon component N7187-1150, Three Device components B3D-23. That's all," I added, shifting my gaze to Shea.

But then I frowned once I realized she just stood by my side with her mouth open in shock.

"You already saw it once," I reminded her.

"Yeah. Of course." Shea nodded, but her shocked face was still there. "You know, Axl. I have no regret for setting you free," she exclaimed before she turned around and ran to the shopkeeper.

"Of course," I said confidently and shifted my gaze to the drones. They looked so much better after I fixed them. Even the missile launchers, plasma cannons, and plasma shielding were fully restored. I was proud of myself.

But then, something crossed my head as I gazed at the drones. Something I hadn't felt in a long time since these high-tech-looking drones reminded me that I wasn't on Earth. I was still in Terra. I should be home after I defeated the dark lord yet I got trapped inside the crystal. I missed my only chance to get home since the one who could open the portal was the kingdom's high priest and I was sure he was already dead by now.

I closed my eyes, trying to remember the remanence memory of my original world. I missed the feeling of belonging somewhere. The smell of the air and the taste of the food. The sound of the people's laughter and the sound of their footsteps. The sight of the sun setting and rising over the horizon. And most of all, I missed the warmth of my family. Because I hadn't seen any of them ever since I arrived here.

My father. My mother. And my sister. I didn't know what they were doing. Were they still alive or not?

"Dammit!" I grunted unconsciously. There was anger in me. A regret, since I should have been able to prevent this if I didn't let my guard down.

"Axl," whispered Shea. "Are you okay?"

I snapped my eyes and looked at her. "Sorry. I was thinking too much."

"What happened?" she asked in worry.

"Nothing." I shook my head. "It's nothing." I couldn't say that I missed my home. She would laugh at me.

"How are the components?" I tried to divert our conversation.

"They are already here." She raised her device and pointed it with her index finger.

"Great. Let's go to the inn then," I said.

"You mean hotel?" she corrected me as she directed her device to the drones. The blue light from it lit up them and sucked them inside the device.

"Yeah. Hotel," I said. There was only 'inn' in the medieval era.

"Okay. Let's go!"
