Kisu looked on in horror as he saw bodies upon bodies lying in front of him. There was blood everywhere. He walked closer to the pile of bodies, only to see it was him lying on the ground. All of those bodies were his. "You should have saved them, Kisu," said one of the bodies in a distressed voice. I-I-I... couldn't save them," Kisu said with tears in his eyes. "BECAUSE YOU'RE WEAK, KISU. YOU ALWAYS HAVE BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE!"
Kisu woke up gasping for air. He looked around his room quickly to check if anything was wrong. He sighed as he wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. "When will this nightmare end?" he thought to himself as he got out of bed. He looked at the time: 7 a.m. He still had some time left before he had to go. He went into his bathroom and began brushing his teeth. Then he went downstairs and into his kitchen to make breakfast. He took out a bowl and some milk. He poured it into the bowl before putting it in the microwave for a minute before taking out some cereal. When he finished his cereal, he put on some new clothes. He put on a black short-sleeve t-shirt, black pants, a pair of yellow sneakers, and a glossy black ring. As he walked towards the front door, he stopped to look at a picture on the wall. It was a picture of his mother: "I wish you were here... It's been rough, but I'm pulling through," he said before kissing the ring on his hand and putting it on the picture before he walked out. He walked towards the bus stop and stood there waiting for his bus. Umm, excuse me... Is your name perhaps Kisu? Kisu looked next to him to see a short girl with black hair standing next to him. "Yeah, that's my name... How do you know it?" Kisu asked. The girl smiled. "We used to go to the same preschool; I'm Hinata Shojou, by the way," she said with a smile. Kisu nodded. "I think I remember you, but it's not really clear," he said. Her face became a bit sad that he didn't remember her. It was nice meeting you... Um, do you think we could exchange numbers, if that's okay?" she asked. Yeah, sure," Kisu replied before they exchanged numbers. Hinata waved as she walked away. "Now I feel like an asshole for talking to her... I hate these goddamn emotions," he muttered to himself before turning to the direction Hinata walked off in and running. In a few seconds, he caught up with her. "Kisu, what are you doing here? Hinata asked. "I kind of wanted to talk, and I can walk you to school if you'd like," he answered. "Do we go to the same school?" she asked. "No, but my teacher wouldn't mind if I'm late," he said before walking with Hinata to her school. "So how have you been?" Kisu asked. "Good, y'know, just doing my school work; my mom always tells me to do my best and nothing less," she said with a weak chuckle. Yeah, Kisu replied. The walk was filled with more uncomfortable small talk until they reached Hinata's school. "You go to West Junior High?! Kisu exclaimed. "Yep, is that so surprising?" she asked. "No, it's not that it's just... Hinata laughed as Kisu struggled to put the words together. Well, thank you for walking me to school; I'll see you around," she said as she walked. Well, Kisu, you made a fool out of yourself," he muttered before walking off to his own school. When Kisu got to the front gate, it was 8 a.m. "Just in time," he thought. He walked through the spacious hallways leading to his classroom. I wonder when we're going to get more students; it's like a ghost town in here," he thought. In about 3 minutes, he made it to his classroom. As he walked inside the classroom, it was empty, to say the least. There were only two desks, one of which was occupied, and a teacher's desk. "You're late, Kamano," said his teacher. "Yeah, yeah, I know Haruto," Kisu replied as he sat down at the unoccupied desk. "You should just sleep on school grounds; that way you won't be late," said the other student. "Staying at school is weird, Rowan," Kisu stated. Rowan shrugged and said, "Suit yourself. "Now that everyone is here, I'd like to inform you guys about your mission. It's a retrieval mission," Haruto explained. Rowan looked confused. "What are we retrieving, an artifact? No, a person, more specifically, a high school girl. Kisu frowned, "Why are we retrieving her? Is she a new student?" he asked. "Yes and no. Higher-ups want us to get her for a redacted reason. But she is sort of a student; she will be staying with us and going on missions at the very least," he explained. "Redacted reasons: why send first years for such a high-profile job?" Kisu asked. "It's good exposure; higher-ups want you guys to go on bigger missions for some reason," Haruto replied. "That's weird," Kisu said. "I agree with Kisu, and who is this girl anyway?" Rowan asked. "She's a first-year at West Junior High; her name is Hinata Shojou," Haruto answered. Kisu's eyes widened in shock. "What?!"
Hinata was walking through the school hallways to go home when she heard a loud noise coming from one of the classrooms. "Is anyone there?" she asked as she walked to one of the classrooms with an open door. She peeked around the door to see what was happening when she saw a horrific scene that would make anyone shudder. She saw a giant flesh-eating creature. It looked like pure flesh—nothing else, no bone structure—and the worst part about it all was that it was eating her homeroom teacher. Hinata let out a gasp, but that was her mistake; the creature turned towards her and let out a shriek. Hinata turned around and ran out the door as fast as she could, with the creature following close behind. The more she ran, the more her legs hurt, with each step hurting more than the last. Then the creature grabbed her by the torso and lifted her into the air. She screamed for someone to save her, but no one came. The creature began to eat her, but luckily it had no teeth, so it was painful and just terribly uncomfortable. "Yo flesh boy, you should probably let the girl go. Scratch that, you should let the girl go. Hinata looked down the hallway to see a boy standing around 1.60 meters tall with maroon-colored hair and a black hoodie on; it was Rowan. The creature spat Hinata out into its hands. Yeah, now too, Rowan added. Instead, part of the creature's flesh detached and formed a humanoid-looking flesh creature. "Ugh, that's just disgusting. Rowan said this before the giant flesh creature began running away. Rowan ran towards the smaller flesh creature and punched it in the stomach so hard that its back exploded. It fell to the ground and dematerialized into dust particles. Rowan ran down the hallway, chasing after the flesh creature. "If this thing does what I think it will, it should make a run for the exit," Rowan thought to himself. The creature ran down the hallways, taking sharp corners to try and get away from Rowan. Then, as it took one more corner, the creature was only 38 meters away from the exit door. It bolted towards the door at subsonic speeds. As he ran through the exit, Rowan shouted, "KISU! NOW! Rowan's voice echoed through the entire school. As the creature stepped foot outside, it was immediately crushed, as if someone had dropped a truck on it from 100 meters in the air. Because the force of the impact was so great, it even cracked the cement floor below it. As it got crushed, the creature dropped Hinata onto the floor. She hit the ground with a thud; her eyes were barely open, and she could really make out the scene in front of her. A figure walked off from the top of the flesh creature as it turned into dust. The figure was about 1.76 meters tall and had black spikey hair. Are you okay, Hinata? Hinata could barely make out who the figure Hinata could barely make out who the figure was. "K-Kisu, she said faintly. "It's okay, Hinata, you can rest now... I'll protect you," Kisu replied. She gave a faint smile before she closed her eyes. I never thought I'd see the day you cared so much for someone," Rowan said as he walked out of the school. Kisu picked up Hinata in his arms and said, "Because this girl means a lot to me…"
