Chapter 1 - 1| The accident wasn't ordinary

"Fuck!" He arose from the bed. This is the hundredth time he had the same nightmare in just one night. For how long would she keep tormenting him in his dreams? What is his offense? What has he done to deserve this kind of torture everyday of his life?

He can't sleep a single night without experiencing her in his dreams. Even when he sits with his eyes closed, she always appeared to him, every single second of the day. Tonight was the worse that has ever happened. In his dream this night, he saw her again. She was so beautiful, so pretty and gorgeous. So breathtaking that his soul melted in the sight of her.

Usually in his dreams, he's never close to her. Is either she's at the bank of the ocean, flapping her tail in the water and staring at him with him gazing at her from afar. But tonight, he was so closed that he almost kissed her tempting lips.

He cursed again underneath his breath. His fingers raked his dark shoulder length hair. He exhaled heavily before grabbing his phone on the bed's cupboard to Google something about mermaids but before then, his eyes flicked on the naked Russian blonde hair woman lying peacefully beside him.

His eyes grew like hawk as he stares madly at her. "Hey!" He pats her shoulder but she didn't respond for a little while. "Wake up, whore!" He pats her harder and she adjusted her slim white slender body on the bed, yawning lazily.

"Good morning, handsome." She smiled brightly as she sits up.

"There's no fucking thing good about the morning." His words harsh without mercy. "I paid for a nightstand not a morning round. Now, get your filthy things and get lost."

Her eyes raked his face, a sexy smirk on her lips as she touched his jaw. "Last night was a blast. Do you mind if I give you a promo?"

He jerked her hand off with rage, pointing at the door. "You don't want me to call in my guards to throw you out. Now, do the needful. Get out."

She rolled her eyes, pushing the covers aside as she stepped out of the bed, nakedly. She picked up her clothes from the floor, wore them and left.

"Damn it! I hope mom and dad doesn't find out that I brought a woman in last night." He cursed, running his hands through his flawless face. Just when the thought of browsing mermaids landed in his head again, that's when the door opened. "I said get—" He sighed after seeing who it was.

"Tell me when did I became your whore?" Justin's cousin, Maxwell Chadwick, walked in boldly with hands in his pockets. Standing right in front of the bed with a quizzical expression, "Did I interrupt your sexy morning or it has already being ruined before I came in?"

Justin quietly ignored his cousin. He always has an attitude of snubbing people. He pushed the covers and went out of the bed nakedly. Maxwell's eyes bugged after sighting his brother's massive erection.

"Don't compare me to a hot chick for goodness sake, keep the hard-on down, man." He gasped, rhyming his eyes with the movement of the rod as it bangs as Justin heads for the bathroom.

He grabbed a towel from the towelettes, "You do know you have trust issues not to mention, don't you?"

"I'll wait here for you." Maxwell slumped on the bed with his arms intertwined above his head. "It's Monday morning and a lot of meetings are waiting for us in the boardroom."

"Don't mess that suit you're wearing on my bed or else, you'll have to re-iron." Justin shouted from the bathroom.

...…..

Thirty minutes later, they're on the highway in a black Ferrari 2022 model. Justin's car. Justin has an habit of punctuality. After the guards arrive at work, he's the second person to come. Nobody beats his early time when it comes to business and earliness.

Though, he is the president's son. He is rude, arrogant, fucking rich, every woman's dream man. Stubborn, intolerant, harsh – he owns one of the world's most largest oil companies in Los Angeles, California. After his Ben Chadwick and his uncle [Maxwell's father] Rojas Chadwick, retired, they handed the company over to their sons. Especially now that Ben do politics. The renowned president of America and Rojas, head of representatives.

Justin and Maxwell has a younger sister, Francesca Chadwick. She's such a spoilt brat and too fashioned. But when it comes to business, she's always serious. Where Justin is the president of the Chadwick oil companies, Maxwell is the VP and Francesca the MD. Both X and Justin are age mates except for Francesca who is four years younger.

The Chadwick family are well-known by many in the whole of America and outside the continent. They have a very massive family tree.

"Dude, move this thing quickly, do you want us to look like late comers?" Maxwell frowned. Looking at his cousin who was driving relaxed.

"Hey, what am I to you?" Justin tilts his head to his direction, "Your chauffeur?"

"It'd have been nice if you had asked your chauffeur to drive us."

"I need to clear it off my head, so I don't want to stress anybody." He mumbled.

Maxwell understood what he meant by that but yet, he never hesitated to ask him further questions. "You saw her again, right?"

How did he know? Justin let out a deep breath of frustration as he leaned his back on his seat with one had on the window massaging his forehead. "There's no single day I don't see her." He stare at him briefly, "And you know the worse part of it? I don't even have time to browse about her."

Everything he does, is either his phone slip off his hand and turns blind, or someone interrupts, or his phone runs out of network.

"I'm getting frustrated, man." His teeth gritted in anger. "I have no connection with her but I keep seeing her in my dreams. Last night…..we almost kissed." His words pained.

Maxwell couldn't help but laugh.

"what's funny? Oh, because I—"

"No, man." Maxwell patted his shoulder, still trying to hold his laughter. "It's just too hilarious."

His lips pressed together in disappointment. "Fine! Sharing it with you was just a waste of time."

"Swear to me, brother. Was she beautiful or not?"

His lips twisted as he contemplates. "Um….I won't lie. She was beautiful like the morning sunshine. Her tails...if I can recall, her tail is um, glacier blue Aphrodite with sparkling diamonds like silver shinning on it. Her hair is very dark and long."

"Sorry am curious but, how long like length?"

Justin touched the side of his knee. "Knee length for human measurement. While her eyes…." His head corking sideways, "A mixture of multiple colors like Hazel, I guess."

"Was she wearing a bra?" When Justin gave him gravely stare, he rose his brow and shrugged. "Come on."

"No," Maxwell's eyes lit up sexily, but Justin quickly added. "But her hair covered her cleavage so I couldn't see anything. Yet, it felt so real touching her face and her tail's fun, so wide at the tip…" He was mesmerizing.

"So, what are you going to do now? As I know, you barely go to the beach."

"Nothing." He shrugged. What could he do about it? He had tried talking to certain people about it except his parents but they just keep saying, they're not real and maybe as a result to his hallucinations about them. "But I don't think about mermaids. Why am I always seeing one?"

"Well, maybe because..."

"Holy shit!" He stomped on the brakes when he realized he had just hit something.

Maxwell almost duck off his seatbelt. His eyes in fear. If there's someone that fears accident the most, it should be Maxwell. That's why he barely drives. "What is it?"

Justin ignored him as he takes off the seatbelt in a hurry and rushed out of the car. Maxwell followed him ASAP.

An accident has just occurred, involving Justin's car. The young woman he knocked down was lying helplessly on the tile road. Her books scattered on the floor and her forehead bleeding non-stop.

"Jesus Christ." Maxwell gasped like a woman. What he feared the most has just happened before his very own eyes.

What was Justin thinking before he knocked her down? But wait a second, they where both in the car together. He was at the passenger side but he made sure to watch the driveway like he was the chauffeur. He never noticed anyone crossing to their lane.

Before people started snapping and videoing from afar, Justin squatted down to take her in his arms. But he couldn't move for a while, staring at her face with his heart reading minutes. There was something he captured about this woman's face. She's likely to be the same woman he sees in his revelation every night. But she wasn't having the image of a mermaid. Still, she has the same facial features. Everything up to date.

"She's bleeding, man. We have to save her before the police gets here." Maxwell impatiently suggested when he heard the sirens blowing from afar.

"Yes, yes, we have to." Justin took her in his trembling arms and drove to the nearest hospital.

Unknowing to him that this accident wasn't ordinary.
