Sarah's POV
I watched my grandson become speechless for a second. I was surprised at that, because he always had something to say.
"Oh that's okay." He said, as Anastasia apologized profusely.
He was transfixed by her beauty. Anna was a looker. She was very beautiful.
" Um, thank you." She replied, feeling awkward at his intense stare.
The boy was halfway there, he just needed a push.
" It's alright darling, why don't you come upstairs with me? I could use some company." I said, helping the dimwit of a grandson.
He turned to look at me, as if just remembering that I was present.
I mocked him with my eyes, And you say you don't have eyes for anyone?
I kept my laughter in, as any utterance could send Vincenzo running.
It seems fate was in my favor. I was thinking of the best way to make their paths collide, but fate did it on her own.
" Um, I'm not sure, ma'am."
" Why?" I acted hurt.
Anna's eyes widened and tried to come up with an excuse, but she couldn't say anything.
" In the absence of none, please follow me upstairs. I would love to be in your company." I said, and she looked at me in surprise.
" What are you doing?" Vincenzo mouthed as we walked upstairs.
My pawn is ready for the game, I'm about to play.
I rolled my eyes at him. We walked up to the open deck. Anna sat stiffly in the chair.
" Relax dear." I said.
" Yes, ma'am." She replied, sitting more stiffly than before.
" So, what's your name?" I asked. My acting skills were top notch.
" Anastasia Beverly." She replied.
" Thats very lovely." I replied
" Don't you think so?" I turned to Vincenzo who was typing on his phone. This boy and his phone. If it were a woman, he would have married him.
" How did you hear about this situation?" I inquired.
" My friend sent it to me." She replied politely. One of the reasons I liked her. She moved from being chatty to becoming a mature lady that thought carefully before she spoke.
" That's great, and how has your experience been so far?" I inquired.
She looked to Vincenzo for help, and he stared at me.
" I'm sorry, if this sounds like an interrogation. I just want to know you." I explained.
She swallowed it, but Vincenzo narrowed his gaze at me.
" I think it's been good so far. I am getting to discover more parts of me." She said.
Good answer. I didn't behave as if I saw what happened today during sports.
" What do you think about my grandson?" I questioned.
Vincenzo continued typing, but I know that he was listening judiciously.
" I think he is a good man. The both times that we've been involved in an accident, he has been nice to me." She said.
Great answer. They didn't know each other well, and this is where I come in.
I blew a sneeze, and Vincenzo looked at me.
" Bless you ma'am." She said.
" Thank you child." I replied.
" Why have you refused to eat anything?"
" I finished eating some minutes ago." She replied.
" It doesn't stop you from having a bite." I insisted, pointing at the peanuts.
" Please get us some apple juice." I told Enzo.
He stared at me, but went in search of a glass of juice.
" I would like to get to know you too ma'am." She said, and I smiled.
It was time for the Meryl Streep in me to be unleashed.
"As you know, my name is Sarah Winston. The grandmother to an awesome man. He's so dear to my heart, because he's the only one I have."
" No one knows this, not even my husband or my grandson. I am a dying old woman."
Anna gasped, and I smiled inwardly. Boom you're getting to right where I want you.
" I'm so sorry, ma'am."
I faked a sniffle, and she rushed towards my chair. She rubbed my back.
" This is horrible, don't you think you should tell anyone?" She suggested.
" No, I don't want them to worry." I said, they would spoil my plan.
" I understand, my father is also in a depressed state, and I understand how it feels." She said.
" I'm sorry, about that." I supplied.
"It's fine ma'am. May I ask what the condition is?" She inquired.
" Leukemia." I replied. That was the first thing that came to my mind.
" Oh my god!" She gasped again, and I smiled.
I let out a larger sneeze to solidify the fact that I was sick. She didn't move away from me. Instead she kept on rubbing my back.
I have you where I want you. I am getting this ship to the sail.
" Please don't tell anyone. I have a year to live. I want to die a peaceful death. Making my family panic is not my desire. The only thing I want is to see my grandchild before I leave." I said.
"I want you to be the mother of my grandson." I held her hands tight.
" Will you help a dying grandmother get her wish?" I asked in a sad voice.
" I,... I don't know what to say." She replied truthfully.
" Please say yes." I pleaded with her.
I heard footsteps approach, and I stood up.
" I have a headache. I would like to retire to bed." I groaned, touching my forehead, and my back. I played my sick role perfectly. I could give Angelina a run for her Oscar.
Vincenzo was up on his feet immediately, rushing towards me.
He and Anna's hands brushed while they tried to bring the glass of water. I noticed the both of them stare at each other before Vincenzo released it to her.
" Thank you, dear." I whispered, as If talking too loudly could upset me.
" I don't need help, I'll be just fine."
"Why don't you two get to know each other?I need to retire to bed." I said.
" Okay, ma'am." Anna replied, while I smiled as I walked away.
