Anna's POV
"Congratulations, Miss Beverly, you're having a baby." The doctor announced, and a smile broke out on Vincenzo's face.
He was over the moon for joy when the doctor broke the news. He lifted me and turned me around.
" I trusted in my sperm, it would never fail me." He smiled.
I forced a smile. When we got home that morning, he refused to go to work.
"I am so happy for you." Sarah said, kissing my cheeks. I was very jittery.
"I knew there was more to that allergy of yours." She commented. "Thank you for making my wish come through." She whispered.
I was almost carried around everywhere I walked. Vincenzo decided to work from home. He was present tending to all my needs.
"Do you need a stool? I read that pregnant women needed to elevate their legs." He said, and I rolled my eyes.
"I am not at that stage yet." I replied, and he smiled.
" I'm just so happy that you're pregnant." He said. I could feel his happiness radiating all over him.
" Me too." I replied, though that was the exact opposite on my mind.
" If you need anything, call me." He said, taking one glance at me again, before leaving. If it was up to him alone, I bet he wouldn't let me out of his sight for one second. He was doting, and it was becoming overbearing.
"Good night." I replied, and sighed in relief when I heard the door close. I understood that a lot of men felt proud the first time they hear that they can father a child. Many go mad with excitement.
I tried to feel happy, but I just couldn't. I looked at my flat stomach, in few weeks, I would start showing. My tummy will get protruded, my life will put on a standstill.
"No way." I whispered to myself. I have to find a way to get rid of this thing inside me.
I brought out my phone, and searched for How to get rid of a two week foetus? Different options floated through my screen, but when I read their risk rate, I was scared for my life. I didn't want to die.
No matter how much I hated the baby. I searched for less painful ways to get rid of a foetus, and the right procedure popped up.
I grinned. It was all a matter of days before I terminate this parasite.
Let's see after then if he would refuse to give me the money.
*******
" Darling, try to eat some more." Sarah encouraged me lovingly.
" I remember when Sarah was pregnant for Edward, Enzo's father." Miles, Enzo's grandfather reminisced.
"Don't tell this story anymore." She muttered shyly. It was weird to see her shy.
"Oh, but I will, she was so ecstatic. I wasn't pleased with the timing of the baby but I couldn't deny that he was infact god sent. Her pregnancy was a very rigorous one. From morning sickness to crankiness, and everything that came with it, it was worth it in the end." He concluded.
" I know that'll be the same for them." Sarah said, she had never hidden the fact that she wanted her grandson and I to get together, though we didn't even know what we were doing.
I guess this was my cue to smile. So I offered them a halfhearted smile, which made Sarah smile too.
"She's so pretty, pregnancy does look good on you. I wish I had such radiance when I was pregnant." She said, and I continued chewing my fruit. I was bored of this conversation, but I forced myself to listen to them.
If I had it my way, I would leave. I guess it would be rude to cut them short while talking.
" Please spare her the details of your pregnancy tale." Vincenzo came to my rescue.
"Are we inconveniencing you darling?" Miles inquired. The man had kind eyes though they were intense. It was a pity that they had a lout for a son.
"Not at all." I replied.Vincenzo held my hand up.
"She needs to rest." He told his grandparents, and they laughed. I could tell that they adored him. He smiled beautifully at me, I guess this was in a bid to put on a show in the presence of his grandparents.
I was indifferent to his smile." Goodnight, Sarah, Miles." I waved as I went upstairs with Vincenzo in tow.
" How are you feeling today?" He asked, and I wanted to pull out my hair. I thought the interrogation was over.
"Very tired, I really need to rest." I said, squashing whatever he wanted to say.
" Okay, do have a goodnight." He said, and walked back to his room.
********
"Hi, Mason." I called over the phone.
" Hey stranger." He replied. I heard a cutting sound from the background.
"Is this a bad time?" I asked. I just needed someone to talk to urgently.
" Give me five." He said, and I hung up the call.
" Hi, Anna." He greeted. He was in a less noisy place now.
"How're you doing dear friend?" I replied. " It's been long I heard from you, I hope you're good?"
" I'm fine, just been working on.my business like I told you. I got a small place where I started my food business." He said, and I squealed.
" This is great news. I knew you could always do it." I said. I have been pushing him to start.
" The customer influx has been so impressive. In the past two weeks, I have recorded almost hundred sales, and ten home delivery." He said, excitedly.
" I am so proud of you, though you're not here. I wanted you to be one of the first persons to eat at my diner." He said and I sighed regretfully.
" Very soon, I'll return home. I just need to tidy up a few things." I lied.
" I've missed you so much." Mason said.
"Great, I'll be back before you know it." I lied again.
