Vincenzo's POV
" Anna fainted." My granny informed me over the phone. I ended the meeting immediately, and rushed home.
" We're taking her to the hospital." Another text popped up .
" Take a detour to the hospital." I informed the driver.
"What happened to her?" I asked the doctor frantically. My heart beat against my ribcage. I wouldn't know what to do if anything happened to her now that I knew that she was the one I was searching for.
"From the tests we conducted, there was a sign of forced abortion.
" Also some drugs were found in her system." Doctor Fidelsuy explained, and I became weak. Of all the things that I imagined was wrong with her, this was the least. It was unexpected. I didn't want his diagnosis to be true.
If I thought my heart was panting hard before, the way my heart palpitated at the bomb the doctor just dropped on me now was harder.
" Let this only be between the both of us." I told the doctor, and he nodded.
"Thank you." I replied.
" She will be kept overnight for observation." Doctor Fidelis informed me, and I also nodded.
"Please keep an eye on her." I told him, while I went to the reception to meet my grandparents.
" What did the doctor say?" My grandmother asked.
" She said that she had a little concussion." I replied, not wanting to break their heart that this woman wanted to abort their grandson.
" Okay, I hope she gets well soon." She said, and I nodded.
"Why don't you go home, and take a nap for a while, it mustn't have been easy to be up since morning." I advised. It would be really heart breaking if they heard what she did.
I tried to figure what would prompt her to attempt killing her own child. This woman was different from the girl I knew long time ago. Anna would never do that to her child. Granted, she was a child at the time, but I think childhood shaped one into becoming a better person. She was the sweetest girl I knew, and that was made me fall in love with her.
" I'll stay here." I informed them, and I ordered my driver to go home, and get a new pair of clothes tomorrow.
She stirred, and I stared at her, and memories came rushing back.
"Do you promise to love me forever?"A young Anna asked me.
"Of course I do, I will love you till eternity." I replied.
"I hope nothing separates us." she said.
"Nothing, I will be with you forever. Can you promise me that?" I asked her.
"I promise." She said, and we did the pinky swear on it.
We were practically joined at the hip until the fire. Was the accident the cause of her change in attitude. I refuse to believe it.
I watched on as she tossed and turned while sleeping. The doctor had assured me that the medications were to get rid of the drugs in her system.
Some of them could cause her to be drowsy.
I went out to take fresh air. The incident got me very angry, but I didn't want to lose my cool here. Moreover, she was still asleep.
When I returned, I brought out my phone, and thought of who to call. I finally settled on calling Daniel. He was a second year I.T student, working in my company, who was very good at getting any information you required.
He picked on the second ring." Hello Daniel."
" Get me the full profile of an Anna Beverly. Leave nothing out. " I ordered, sending him a picture of hers. It was the one she used to apply for the role.
" Okay." He hung up.
My phone dinged after twenty minutes. That was fast. I wondered. Well that was why I liked him." What were you able to find out?" I questioned. She was still asleep.
He sent a form to me. " Her name is truly Anna Jones. Her parents are James Beverly, and Celine Beverly, swimming in debt, going bankrupt even. They own a consulting firm that you are trying to buy out. The bank is threatening to kick them out of the house.
" Get me their numbers." I said and in ten minutes, their numbers popped on my phone.
"Thank you, Daniel. I've sent a package to you." I told him.
"Thanks, boss." He replied.
What she did would have made me drag her to court. I know that she wouldn't stand a chance against me, however that would be cruel.
She was not lying about having an accident, she had a bus accident one afternoon while returning from school. She was ten years old.
Her C.T scans showed that she suffered a great blow to her skull, and that made her lose her memory partially. The doctor's report also showed that she might regain them soon. She was lucky to be able to remember a few things. She was about to go to college. She graduated last year.
She had a best friend Mason, who was twenty three years, he just began his diner.
I had a bargaining piece. She must have changed in all ramifications, but I bet that she wouldn't want her loved ones to suffer.
I'm not ready to let her go. All I wanted was her love. We were meant to be together, though she might not know it yet.
I promise to make you fall in love with me.I determined inwardly as I skimmed through her file in my hand.
"You're awake." I grinned like a cat that caught the canary
