VIncenzo's POV
" That's what I wanted to say." She said and I was lost. What was she telling me.
" I'm sorry, I didn't get that." I replied.
My granny smiled. " Have you seen anyone that catches your fancy?" She asked.
" No." I replied immediately..
Her quirky smile made me fidget. " What is it?" I asked her. She smiled sheepishly.
" Nothing." She smiled dangerously again.
" I don't want to believe that." I said.
" Well, I thinking you've met the one, but you don't know it yet." She said, and I didn't reply her.
" Grandma, I don't know what you're talking about. I have not met anyone. Neither do I like anyone." I replied. I was truly tired of being hounded.
She should save herself the stress, and choose whoever she wants to be the mother of her grandson; as she fondly calls it.
" Why don't you accompany me to the sports arena?" She said.
" I have to work." I replied abruptly. I missed some duties last night because I was intercepted by visitors last night
" Work can wait." She said, and I rolled my eyes.
" You of all people know that that's impossible." I said.
" You just need to come with me and I will change your mind about this selection process." She said.
" That's impossible. I would always see them as baby...." I trailed off. Not wanting her to resume her preaching again.
" There's this girl that I am sure you'll like." She said confidently.
" If you like her, you'll pay me a million dollars. If you don't,....." She shrugged.
As an astute business man, I knew this would be a good deal.
" Is that all?" I asked. She was full of tricks.
"Yes, and before you ask? There is no hidden agenda." She said, and that confirmed that there was indeed a hidden agenda.
" I believe you." I replied, like the way I believed a goat with a yam.
A million dollars? My grandma is crazy, and I would love to beat her at her game.
" Dress properly son. Who knows if she would see you today. We don't want to have you looking unpresentable." She said, and I shook my head.
This woman was troublesome.
" Let's go." I said, and she went back to wear some jewelry.
She was only going downstairs to watch the ladies from the second floor.
" Finished." She announced, drawing my attention away from my phone.
" Finally." I said, and she laughed.
" Bye baby." My grandfather called from inside, and came outside to give her a kiss.
I averted my eyes. " Gross." I said. It was still weird watching them kiss. They tried to keep their marriage this long. I would love to have something like this someday. Shit! Why was I thinking of marriage? A lifetime shackle.
" Wait till you have your wife." He said, while my grandma blushed like a newly wedded bride.
"Can we go now?" I asked in impatience.
" Yeah, yeah." She said, and I helped her carry the small purse.
Highly unnecessary for a walk in the house.
~~~~~~~~
" They are just about to get started." She clapped gleefully.
" One would think that you're the one getting the wife." I retorted.
" Is that jealousy, I smell boy?" She asked, and I rolled my eyes again.
"Why do I even try?" I asked. I loved her no matter how she is hellbent on playing matchmaker for me.
" You have to." She replied, and I smiled. This woman was very sure of herself.
Time to prove you wrong.
" Pass me my purse." She said, and i handed it to her, and we watched the interaction between the sports woman and the rest of them.
" Put that phone away." She instructed. I was indulging her in so many ways. People in the office dared not order me around.
" What can you see?" She asked and I stared with her.
" Women working out." I replied nonchalantly.
" And you can't see the special girl?" She asked.
" Who?" I inquired.
" I don't know, Is there anyone you like here?"
" No." I replied, before i saw the mysterious girl from yesterday that I couldn't hear what they were saying perfectly.
" What is going on?" I asked, and my grandmom smiled mischievously.
"She was encouraged to do it, and she ended doing 54 pushups."
"Resilient." Was the first thing that I thought of when I saw her. Everyone stopped and watched her continue.
" Great Anna." Anita praised her, and I tested the name inwardly.
Anna sounded nice. I managed to keep my admiration away from my face because my granny was waiting for my comment.
" So?" She asked.She never disappointed me.
" Nothing." I dismissed her, and she gave a knowing smile.
" Is this all?" I asked. I had a lot of paperwork on my desk but this woman managed to drag me with her.
" Yes." She replied.
" Are you satisfied now?" I inquired.
" I want to take a walk." She said, and I groaned.
" Why?"
" To stretch my legs." The reason for this walk was pointless. Nothing was wrong with her. She took her medications and ate good food. She was more fit than any other sixty year old woman that I knew.
She knew I loved her a lot, and she always too the chance to exploit it. My grandfather took a huge chance by marrying her.
I can only imagine how she would have been in her younger years.
"You're walking too fast." She complained when we were returning from the nearest park.
" Do you want to have your lunch as dinner?" I retorted.
" I certainly don't mind. I don't really feel like eating." She said, and I stopped.
" Is something wrong?" I asked in concern.
" No, not really. I've been to the doctor...." She trailed off.
"And?" I replied, not wanting to hear any bad news. Everyone that went to the doctor always had bad news.
"He said, I have only...."
" Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" A voice spoke after colliding into me.
