"Hey..." Alex said, his voice filled with warmth and concern.
I heard Alex's voice and put down the alcohol wipe, turning to face him. He was leaning against the door frame, his smile dancing on his lips. Despite the pain in my back, his presence brought comfort and a strange sense of happiness.
"Hi, please come in." I smiled back at him.
He walked into the room and sat beside me on the mattress. I could feel it sink a little under his weight, and my heart fluttered as he came closer to me.
"It must hurt a lot," he remarked, noticing the alcohol wipe I used to clean the wound on my back. When I had jumped out of the window earlier, something hit me hard, leaving a painful bruise.
"It's fine. I can handle the pain," I replied, trying to sound nonchalant.
