She stared at him as if he had grown two horns on top of his head. It nearly made her breath catch, the way he referred to it. So casually.
"The curse?" she repeated, working to coat her tone in doubt.
"Yes."
"What does that even mean?"
He sat back down on the floor, his head resting back against the wall as his eyes traveled everywhere but her face. "It means that I'm cursed until I die. Only a few people know about it and now you're included in that list."
He breathed out, rubbing his hands over his face and Haven noticed the first signs of exhaustion and mental fatigue. He looked like he'd given up; as if nothing mattered to him anymore; as if he had no purpose and she decided that she hated that look on him.
"So the curse is you?" she continued to question but his eyes still refused to meet hers. It irritated the hell out of her and she couldn't understand why.
