'Hmm, what to wear, what to wear.'
I think to myself as I sift through the clothes that I brought with me. There was no way in hell that I'd wear something out of Elon's closets.
My issue with Elon is really his whole way of handling life. He believes that if you throw enough money at any issue that pops up, it will magically go away. He's done this many times. He's done this to get friends, to sleep with various gold-digging women, take care of various legal situations he's been caught up in, basically his get everything you want card. Except the balance never seems to run out.
*Smack*
I slap myself across the face, knowing that I should quit thinking about that and instead focus at the real issue at hand.
"Abbi…"
I mutter her name as my memory of what occurred just a little while earlier plays on repeat in my head.
'She said she wants to do it…. That can only mean…. Ah! I get it! She just wants to play a nice game of Texas Hold 'Em…..'
I shake my head, "Who am I kidding, I know what that look was, exactly what she meant…"
Now I had my fair share of girlfriends before Abbi. Was I still a virgin? No, no I was not. I lost my dreaded V-card early on. Was it to the bell of the ball, head cheerleader for the football team? No, it was not, in fact I still feel bad about it.
The sex itself was fine. I didn't, you know, 'arrive' early. I just feel bad because I kinda used the girl. I mean it happens all the times nowadays, guys hit puberty and they want to fuck anything that moves. They sweet talk some innocent girl into giving up their precious first time, something that should be a fond memory, and ruin it with a one-night stand in the backseat of some shitty old Sonda Sivic.
Now, I'd really love to believe I wasn't the same way, but it doesn't change the fact that I just fucked the girl and left her hanging. She didn't necessarily take to kindly to that. However, she vented to some guy in a class above us, I think she ended up marrying him. Props to you my guy, played that shit perfectly.
…..
'Man, didn't realize how big of a piece of shit men truly are.'
Anyways, the rest of high school I dated a couple girl, nothing really too serious but sex was always a part of it. But none of those girls, I mean absolutely none of them, could compare to Abbi.
She isn't called the 'School Belle' for nothing. Beautiful face, gorgeous eyes, a slim, petite figure that would drive any man crazy. Add on her cute personality and natural shyness around unfamiliar people, and any guy within a five mile radius would fight each other to the death to get a chance to talk to her.
That's how lucky I am.
When we first met, she was in one of my freshman biology labs. We were partnered together and she accidently sliced my hand open with a scalpel. Still have the scar. She profusely apologized as the lab TA, who was a foreigner, panicked, not know what to do. I calmly asked the TA if there was any glue in the classroom, she found a bottle for me and I glued the cut back together.
After that, people started calling me the 'Man of Steel', saying I was some rough and tough hick from out west, the meanest motherfucker you could find. Now I don't even know how those rumors got started, but Abbi felt so bad she found my dorm room from the school's files and brought over some snacks.
When she knocked on the door, I was surprised, and so was everyone else in the halls, she tried apologizing to me but I just pulled her into the room, shutting the door behind her. This sparked all kinds of nasty rumors that… well I'll let you imagine what exactly was said.
I thanked her for the gift but told her not to come to my dorm again, telling her she'd ruin her image of 'a perfect girl' being seen around someone like me. She was speechless as I led her out of the room and out of the dorm building.
But it didn't end there as you can probably guess. She came back the very next day after morning classes with a lunch box in her hands and a determined look on her face. I told her again that she shouldn't be seen with me and she shut me down. She said and I quote, 'I'm going to visit you every day, just to prove that me being with you is no problem at all!'
Yeah, that went about as well as a hand grenade in a handbasket.
Rumors flew, ranging from a cute love story to something far more sinister. Hell, if we were walking together the amount of girls coming up to her, trying to make all kinds of excuses to get her away from me to supposed 'safety'. God, the look on their faces when she told them that I was trying to get away from her were priceless.
Moving on, one thing led to another, and I finally relented.
"FINE, I get it already! You aren't afraid of your image being tarnished by being around me, now can you stop following me? I can't take another day of people threatening to call the cops on me for imprisoning you against your will."
The look she gave me was one of confusion, and then she smiled and laughed, "Nope, I'm afraid you're stuck with me! Tehe…"
Man, what the fuck?
"I like spending time with you, you don't beat around the bush, you're sweet, albeit in your own weird way. Even though I could do without some of your darker 'humor' at times it doesn't bother me much, so I'm staying with you!" She happily replied to my stupefied face.
"Haaaaa…." I sighed, "Well if you're going to stick with me you might as well become my girlfriend." I joked.
"Hmmm… girlfriend huh? Yeah ok!"
*Pfffftt
Choking on my drink I looked at her like she was crazy, "You do realize that was a joke, right?"
She pouted, pretty cutely I might add, "I don't care! I have fun when I'm with you, and you're the person I'm closest too out here at school. Guys are either to creepy or scared of me and girls treat me like some kind of threat. You are the only one that I can relax around and be myself. So yes, I will be your girlfriend!"
….
I looked at her, then the ground, then back at her, "You sure?"
She nodded.
"Well alright then, welcome aboard Private Winters, welcome to the shit show that is my life," I say while giving her a salute.
"Pfffft, haha happy to be here commander!" she giggled as she saluted me back.
From that day forward we became a couple. Now I know what you might be thinking, damn, four whole years together and you never had sex, not even once! Well, I guess I don't know what to say. I was scared that I'd move to fast and ruin things, or make things really awkward by being rejected. However, it seemed like she didn't care about that. She was a joy to be around, someone I could confide in, giving myself some breathing room from my hectic life of juggling school, part time jobs, going home to help on the farm, and dealing with Nolan and Elon's goofy asses.
Realizing I spaced out remembering the past, realizing that I only had about an hour before the party started.
Rushing and picking out a rather simple flannel shirt and a nice pair of blue jeans, I hopped in the shower, quickly washing myself off. After doing some personal maintenance in the mirror, making sure my medium length beard looked even, and giving my hair a once over, I got dressed.
Now, I looked like I was heading to a bar in a town of 70 people in the middle of bumfuck no where, I really didn't care. This is who I am. I'm not some fancy playboy or some long-haired, girly looking guy like in those stupid Chinese webnovels that I am stupidly addicted to reading. Nope, I'm just your average farmboy. Built thick in the shoulders, obvious signs of latent muscle hidden behind a thin layer of fat. Honestly, it's a miracle that Abbi is my girlfriend because by all standards, I'm more than likely a 6 out of 10.
After straightening my shirt and making sure the wings of my boots weren't protruding too much, I gave myself the 'all clear' nod and walked to the hallway door.
Exiting the door I found Abbi, Nolan, Elon, and the head Butler Thomas all standing just down the hallway, happily chatting.
As I approached them I could hear Elon and Nolan singing praises that sounded like they should be preaching the gospel, commenting on Abbi's outfit and her hair.
'Real smooth numbnuts.'
Hearing the sound of my boots hitting the floor, they turned to look at me with various extreme reactions, except for Thomas, that guy just looks like a bulldog with a perpetual frown plastered upon his face.
Elon and Nolan both looked at me like I rode the short bus in the '70s, while Abbi gave one of her signature loving smiles, albeit with a red hue on her cheeks.
"You look great Ayden, very handsome," she teased while her eyes scanned me up and down.
"Looks great my ass, dude you realize this is a high class party, right? Like when everyone is all fucked up and seeing double then maybe it's alright but bro. Ever heard of business professional?"
Nolan began to rip into me for what I was wearing, but what surprised me was Elon had a weird smile on his face.
'I could've swore he had the same look as Nolan when I walked towards them, why's he smiling now?'
"Ah, Nolan, don't be so hard on him, this is what 'his people' like to wear, who are we to judge?" he said while eyeing me oddly.
"The fuck you mean 'my people'? You sleezy bastard."
Basically calling me white trash in front of my girlfriend huh? Bold move there buddy, I hope you trip and fall down a flight of stairs. Maybe having some busted teeth would straighten you out.
"Hey hey, that's enough, no fighting!" Abbi exclaimed while grabbing my arm, making Elon sneer in disgust and walk away. "Don't worry about him alright? Besides…. we have more important things to do tonight." She said while looking at her feet, squeezing my arm like a cushion.
"Yeah, I'm sorry love. He just likes to rile me up, nothing will ever happen because of it."
I apologized to her, but then I realized the last line she said and I blushed a bit.
"I guess we do have more important things to do tonight, don't we?"
Pinch*
Abbi pinched my side while keeping her head down. When she acted cute like this, it really cemented the way I feel about her.
Pulling her out of her embarrassment-filled stupor, I lead her behind Nolan and Elon.
"Alright, majority of the guests are here, try to mingle as much as you can," Elon sighed as he pushed open the doors, "and don't make asses of yourselves, alright?"
After leaving us with that remark he opened the doors to a chorus of laughter, talking, and greetings as the guests have already arrived.
Nolan quickly followed him like a good little puppy, leaving me, Abbi, and Thomas standing in the doorway.
"I shall leave first, enjoy your night to the best of your abilities," he bowed and turned, walking to a designated spot over looking the guests, waiting to order the servants to help at moments notice.
"Well, shall we?" Abbi looked at me with a smile.
"Haaaa…."
"Yeah, let's get this over with."
With that we stepped into the main hall, excited for the night to already be over, looking forward to finally being in each-others embrace.
