"Please... Please spare me..."
The girl pleaded.
However, Joe only laughed at her predicament.
*Boom!*
Suddenly with a loud bang, a big hole appeared in the tent. The isolation talismans broke apart.
Joe turned around and looked at the entrance of the tent.
"Who dared?!"
His eyes were bloodshot.
He was about to enjoy his night after a long day and now someone has come to cause commotion in the tent.
'What happened to my guys?' He thought and moved out of the tent, leaving the girl behind.
And as soon as he left the tent his eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
"Dead! They are all dead?!" A crazy expression appeared on his face as he saw Gavin standing there in the middle of the chaos, with his hands crossed behind his back.
He was in his small form.
"Hey, boy! Tell me what happened?! Who did this to my guys?!"
Joe rushed towards Gavin with small but hurried steps as he avoided the blood and organs on the ground.
"I gave them their chance however they mocked me instead, so I killed them. They deserved what happened to them. And you too, you also deserve to die! Joe said and pointed his hammer at Joe's fat belly.
Joe looked at him and looked at the surroundings. "There is no way a pathetic grade three guy like you could kill Rock and even other underlings! You must have an expert backing you up. But remember I also have connections inside the wall so it would not be wise to kill me!"
He said with a loud voice as if he was saying it to the hidden expert.
Gavin sneered at his words and then his eyes landed on the Girl inside the tent, she was barely wearing any clothes and her eyes were filled with tears. What made Gavin's blood boil was the fact that she was younger than him.
Gritting his teeth he conjured up his Qi inside the wooden hammer and suddenly with a flash of lightning his body turned muscular.
"Fatty Joe! you have committed heinous crimes and now it's time for redemption!"
Blue sparks flew from his eyes as the soil around his legs started to vibrate at high speeds.
"Who... what are you?!"
The fat Joe also summoned his spirit and purple sparks started floating around him.
Gavin squinted, seeing purple lighting around Joe's body.
'So he also has lightning-type spirit.'
Soon enough a black-colored eal surrounded by purple lighting wisps circulated around Joe's body.
"Boy! Don't think that I would give up so easily!"
Gavin sneered at Joe's comment.
His golden hammer pointed at Joe's chest.
"Die!"
Blue sparks moved out of his hammer and circulated around Gavin.
Joe looked at the Blue sparks and felt the pressure of grade-six cultivation.
'I have no chance against him, I have to call help from inside the wall. For now, first I have to stall for time.'
Just as Gavin was about to attack Joe, his voice ranged again.
"Little boy, how about we follow our previous deal! I will give you hundred silver taels and I will add another hundred for all the inconvenience. You can even keep your stones if you want."
Gavin who was about to shoot at Joe, stopped his Qi and then a shrewd smile formed on his face. He knew that Joe was stalling for time so that he could fool him and call for help.
However, Gavin had other plans.
"You tried to kill me! Do you think my life is only worth 200 taels of silver, you are pathetic!"
Joe listened to him and smiled internally.
'Boy, you just wait, once I get my hands on my treasury I will teach you a lesson. I have hidden a communication talisman in there that will call for helps in a matter of minutes, then I will torture you so much that you would beg for death.'
Joe has a treasury where he kept all his profits from selling slaves inside Redwood City.
As getting slaves was impossible from inside the walls because of the administration's jurisdiction. Most of the people brought slaves from him and paid Joe in silver Taels.
Joe always kept a communication talisman in his treasure room, in preparation for events like this. Although he never used one before as he was the overlord of the slums for the past decade.
Communication talismans can be categorized into different sub-talismans according to their uses. The one that Joe had in his treasure room, is an emergency communication talisman that sends an emergency help signal to the recipient.
This talisman was something that his boss gave him, his boss was someone from inside.
He sold his slave to his boss and from there his boss sold them to the rich class of Redwood City.
"Ok! How much do you want?" Joe said with a fearful expression, in truth, he was only acting scared.
"To me, no amount of money could buy my life," Gavin said and then looked at the girl in the tent.
Joe popped a nerve at his words. He wanted to get it over with quickly, no matter how much money he gave to Gavin, at the end when he tears apart the emergency talisman and his boss arrives, all the money will end up back to him.
This was the reason why he would be ready to give him as much money as he has.
"What do you want then? I can give you anything you want if you just spare my life." Joe said.
Gavin moved his body and started pacing towards the tent. He was also keeping an eye on Joe if he did anything suspicious then he would instantly kill him. He wanted to humiliate Joe.
Gavin has endured torture from his mother and the hooligans in his village so he knew that an easy death would not suffice for an evil person like Joe.
He moved towards the tent, Joe following behind him.
"Boy, my treasury is in another tent, behind the main one, you are going the wrong way," Joe called out as he wanted to lead Gavin towards the treasury.
He kept all his treasure in a hidden spot, and only he and his boss knew about that spot, even Rock didn't knew about it.
He didn't place his treasures in the main tent because it would be the first place a person would check if they wanted to rob or steal him.
Gavin smiled at his words. By now he has seen how desperate Joe seems to enter the treasury. 'Looks like there is some sort of trap in the place where Joe keeps his coins.' Gavin thought and laughed internally.
'You think I would fall into your trap so easily! I will let you know what real humiliation feels like today!'
"Shut up and do as I say!" Gavin scolded him.
He moved inside the tent and glanced at the little girl. His eyes then focused on a dangling robe on the wall.
Pulling out that robe he placed it over the girl, covering her half-naked body.
Joe curled his lip at his actions, this was his most precious robe that his boss has gifted him, and now Gavin has given it to a girl, that didn't deserve it.
'How dare this guy, lay his hands on my Rainskin Coat! Now I will make sure to torture him and this girl, both to death!' Anger flared in Joe's eyes as he looked at his precious robe getting worn by a slum girl.
A Rainskin Robe was not a common thing even among the inner residents of Redwood City, it was a Martial Treasure, made from sacrificing hundreds of Rainskin Crows.
And each of which crows was at least a martial grade eight and the place where the vitals were, like heart, liver, and spine, the Rainskin was of at least Grade Ten.
This Robe could save one's life even from a Grade Twelve Martial Artist's full attack. A single one of these Robe would cost a fortune in the Inner Wood market.
'Only if I wore this coat before facing this brat, then I wouldn't have to worry about him.'
Gavin noticed Joe's ugly expression and understood that the robe was not a normal one. A smile formed on his face.
"Girl, what is your name?" Gavin asked.
The little girl that was already scared got startled, and sweat formed on her forehead as her vision turned blurry.
"My... my... Name is Lucie." She stuttered.
"No need to be scared Lucie, this big brother will save you."
Gavin looked at the Fat Joe and then pointed at the ground. "Fatty, kowtow in front of her and ask for forgiveness, only if she forgives you then I will be willing to let you go."
Gavin knew that for an overlord like Joe, who has ruled these slums for over a decade, nothing was more humiliating than kowtowing in front of his prey.
