Gavin opened his mouth as a grunt left it, he looked at his hand which was now stuck to his hammer and was unmoving, terror ran through his spine as he saw his hand start to wither out. He never imagined that he would end up like this after trying to save a stranger, what a cruel world.
However, he didn't give up so easily he pulled his legs together and with all the remaining force in his hand kicked the corporeal snake over Lucie's head.
"Die! You bastard! Leave me alone."
The blue-colored snake also bared its fangs as it hissed in anger, the kick seemed to do nothing to it, except to make it even angrier, the blue snake opened its mouth wide, and then a suction force erupted from it.
Gavin felt his strength leaving his body even faster after the snake also started sucking his life force away. Soon enough his whole body turned black and with only a wisp of life remaining in him was he finally able to free his hand from his hammer.
'What a stupid way to die!' This was his last thought before he lost his consciousness. He was slowly dying as the remaining life force also started to dissipate from him.
With his hammer in his hand, his body lay beside Lucie. The blue snake looked at his remaining life force and then licked its lips, it opened its mouth again to suck the remaining life away from Gavin.
However, suddenly a lighting bolt emerged from the hammer and pistoled at the snake. Making the snake scared.
The snake looked at the hammer like it was looking at its death, it quickly rolled around Lucie's neck and entered her Dantian to hide from the hammer.
Just as the snake entered her dantian, above them the old lady in white appeared, her cold eyes looked below, and her gaze first landed on Gavin.
"This poor boy became a victim of the eternal spirit. He will die soon." The old lady judged.
As almost all the life force was sucked away from Gavin he was already in his normal form and even his hammer turned wooden, that was the reason why the old lady didn't give him any more attention.
Just as she was about to reach Lucie, she stopped in her way and decide to wait.
On the rock, Lucie's blue eyes flashed open. Her body felt heavy as she moved herself up.
"Where am I?" Her head felt groggy.
However soon enough she remembered that she was flying with Electro,
'Did he leave me here?' A sudden sadness draped over her eyes as the thought flashed in her eyes. Even her parents abandoned her so she didn't expect anything from Electro, however, she was grateful that at least he saved her from that Fat Joe.
Her hand then moved sideways and it was at this moment she felt something through her hand and her eyes landed on the charred body of Electro, his life seeping away.
Her eyes widened in terror looking at his pale condition. "What happened?!" She quickly moved her hands and tried to wake him up but to no avail.
"Electro... Brother Electro please wake up, don't make me worried like this."
In her eyes, Electro was equivalent to a God who save her life in distress, and now seeing his listless body her heart started to feel heavy.
"Who did this to you?!!" Tears welled from her eyes as they landed on Gavin's face.
"Wake up, please! Take my life instead. I would never forgive the person who did this to you..." More tears dripped down her eyes.
"You killed him." Suddenly a raspy cold voice resounded behind her.
Lucie's body perked up as she turned around to look at an old lady floating there.
She stood up in front of Gavin's dying body, "Don't come near!"
The old lady sighed, "Little girl it is of no use, I am not here to hurt you. Your spirit consumed that boy's life force. I am surprised that a pathetic wooden spirit like it could sustain your eternal spirit."
The old lady's eyes hovered over the wooden hammer for a few seconds, she was surprised that a low-grade wooden hammer was able to support an eternal spirit.
She was sure that even her spirit would barely be able to support an Eternal Spirit, so now seeing that the boy in front of her with a wooden spirit manage to still stay alive, she was somewhat shocked.
'If it wasn't for the damages in his body that are already too far gone, I would have tried to bring him to my sect too. However, this boy is already dying, and recovering from this condition would be impossible.'
One has to know that an eternal spirit challenges the heavens and walks on the path of insanity.
Every time in the past when an eternal spirit has shown itself, a blood bath came with them.
And now Gavin has helped awakened such a terrifying spirit, one can only guess his power through that.
"What do you mean I killed him? Don't try to fool me!" Lucie said.
The old lady sighed at her words. "Girl, you have awakened an eternal spirit and this guy has helped to awaken it by sacrificing his life force." The lady pointed at Gavin.
Lucie's eyes widened and her brows furrowed at the old lady's words. "What are you saying? I can never try to harm him!"
"You didn't harm him, it's just he decided to sacrifice himself to help you awaken, if he wouldn't have saved you then you would have died. He helped you live by sacrificing his life." The old lady lied.
She didn't want Lucie's mentality to suffer, that was the reason she used words like sacrifice.
"How can I know that you are telling me the truth? You might be the one that did this to him." Lucie looked at Gavin and pain ran through her heart, she can't bear the possibility that Gavin might be hurt because of her.
"Sigh... Girl I have no reason to lie to you. I can kill both of you as easily as blinking my eyes. I saw you while I was on my way to my sect and decided to help you. That is the only reason I stopped." The old lady in white revealed her aura to show Lucie.
Lucie suddenly felt the air around her turning heavy, it was hard for her to even take breaths.
She felt something similar when Gavin was angry at Joe, however, his aura was not even near the old lady.
'She is strong...' Lucie gritted his teeth.
Her eyes then looked at Gavin and tears started to fill them again. Her guard dropped from the old lady, she could tell that if the lady in white wanted to kill them, then they would already be dead.
Seeing Lucie's guard drop, the old lady nodded and retracted her aura.
Lucie then slumped on the ground. "Why?! Why did you try to save me? I was not worth it!" Tears flowed through her eyes as she sobbed.
Her heart was aching.
Gavin was the only person that has treated her right and now he is dying, and the reason for his current condition was none other than herself.
"Am I cursed?" She looked at her hands and then thoughts of taking her own life spun around her head.
The old lady looked at her condition and clicked her tongue in pity. 'Maybe this girl's past was not pretty. She might be hard to train. But I have to persevere, she is the best chance I have that can inherit the timeless scroll.'
She then came beside Lucie and placed her hand on her shoulder.
"Girl, he has sacrificed his life for you, which means it's not your life now, it belongs to him. I think you should honor his sacrifice and keep on living, you should be just like him, kind and helpful, only then you will do his sacrifice a justice." The old lady said.
She was trying to manipulate Lucie, so she could become her master.
"For you to honor his life, you have to become powerful and help as many people as you can, just like him."
The old lady slowly started to brainwash the girl.
'Little girl, you are like wet clay in my hand, I will mold you as I want, and soon enough you will forget this boy and would be my loyal disciple, as you are the only one that is worthy.' She thought.
Lucie looked at the old lady with bloodshot eyes. "I will kill everyone that hurt others just for their enjoyment!" She said with determination.
The old lady looked at the girl's determined eyes and gulped her saliva in fear. She knew that if Lucie's thought process was like this then she might become a huge pain for the whole world, after all an Eternal Spirit loved bloodshed.
The old lady was trying to turn Lucie on the path of love and care, so it was easy for her to manipulate.
'Tssh... This girl, she might need some time to get completely brainwashed.'
