Elliot walks in school noticing that Alec hasn't shown up but assumes he's late. The day continued like normal, he would go to class like usual, he doesn't have any classes with Alec today so he would not have no idea if Alec was there or not and it didn't bother him. But Alec has lunch with Elliot this day so Elliot waits to see him but Alec does not show, that makes him extremely worried because the last time he was ever gone from school was last year, freshman year, Elliot thought to check if he was called out for the day just in case, he doesn't want what happened last year to be what happened today.
He eventually shook the thought off when he realized it could just be Alec being sick or something like that but he kept having the weird feeling, his history teacher noticed that Elliot was acting differently, "Hey Elliot are you okay you keep spacing out?" Mr.Dingle asked Elliot.
"Yeah I'm fine sorry for worrying you Mr.Dingle!" Elliot replied. He clearly wasn't but the teacher didn't bug him again. He walked to Alec's house as soon as he got out of school, he knocked on the door, no response.
He started to panic "No he is okay, his dad is at work of course there would be no response," he said to himself to try to calm himself down. He knocked again out of fear. His fear got to him and started to cry. He looked through the window and saw no one but in his mind he thought he saw Alec passed out with a noose around his neck for a second but he was so thankful he was just imagining things. 'Please don't die, Alec please open the damn door!' He yells in his head while banging his hand against the door.
Elliot had completely come to the conclusion that Alec tried to kill himself out of fear and losing control instead of reasonable thinking. 'Did I do this?' he thinks while crying. He doesn't even want to break open the door. 'What if Alec is alive and the only way to save him is to break the door open but what if he's already dead and I committed a crime for no reason!?' Elliot thought to himself.
The door opened just as Elliot finished that thought. Alec looks at Elliot concerned, "Why the fuck are you here?!" He demanded.
Elliot hugged Alec as soon as he saw that Alec was okay and wasn't dead, he smiled cheerfully, "Sorry...I was worried, you...you didn't go to school today....." Elliot replied.
Alec pushed Elliot away and Elliot repeatedly said sorry remembering that Alec is uncomfortable with hugs, "Why do you care?!" Alec screamed.
"Because.....you....are my friend!" Elliot exclaimed with a flushed face, embarrassed at his own shout..
"After all I did to you, you still regarded me as a friend...." Alec thought to himself, trying not to cry. "I'm fine, please get the fuck out and leave me alone," Alec demanded.
"... Remember last year..?" Elliot asked Alec.
Alec realized what he was talking about. "Why do you care if I die?" Alec asked, completely Ignoring the question.
"....I was returning your computer that I accidentally grabbed thinking it was mine that night....your door was unlocked, I knew it was wrong to just walk in but I did because I had this.... feeling I had to..." Elliot told Alec.
"Why are you telling me this?" Alec interrupted Elliot.
"I saw you, just laying there...just laying there knocked out cold, not responding....." Elliot states while crying. Alec froze on the spot, 'He- he saw!' he thought to himself. Alec started crying uncontrollably. He stepped inside and slammed the door in front of Elliot. Alec broke down crying 'shit, shit, shit!' he thought. Elliot doesn't know why he told Alec that, he hated that he told him, he eventually had enough courage to leave and hurry home.
