"Today will be a new day!" Elliot excitedly yelled after waking up five minutes ago as usual he is his cheerful little self as usual.
"I see someone is happy!" he's mom said, trying to sound happy herself.
"Sadie dear, don't encourage him," his dad told his mother, Sadie.
"Lighten up dear, it's early!" Sadie replied.
Elliot's father gave her a tired stare, "Yeah, he shouldn't be causing such ruckus at 6am!" his father replied in a frustrated tone. "Before I get mad I want to mention, Elliot, your mother suggested that me and you have a "guys night out" or whatever, she thinks that I haven't been spending time with you which is whatever, I was thinking of taking you hunting!" Elliot's father stated, trying to sound excited.
Elliot started to panic, his breathing went stiff as his mind was going everywhere, he started crying. Sade puts her hands on his shoulders. "Sweetie, I know you love animals but they are weighing you down, you're in highschool already, you're so nice to others but you are sometimes too nice. Me and your father want you to be successful. That's why we push you, you know that right?" Sadie paused before getting a nod from him.
"We are worried about you, if you go into the real world how you are right now, you'll crumble! You are too nice for this world, I know it doesn't feel right now but you should at least give hunting a try. It might toughen you up, I promise we are just trying to look out for you and if you get good at it, you could run for the military! your dad is trying to look out for your future!" Sadie told Elliot.
Elliot didn't say anything and just quickly got ready and left as soon as he could. He went to school crying. As soon as he went to school, he tried to ignore the whole situation and put on his 'happy face'. It eventually worked after thinking about the big water bottle rocket project he is doing for science and that got him so excited. He goes to class cheerfully, almost forgetting about the whole situation.
He goes to his desk where he has everything grouped up. In his fist pile it has wires, electric circuit boards and batteries all to make the bottle go faster and further. In the other group have the water bottle and the other one has cardboard and tape. Everything that is there he brought the first day it was ever mentioned.
When he was finally done with it, Alec came in slamming the door. "What an entrance mr. late, oh it's you mr. 'I can't stop cursing' what makes you so late?" The teacher asked.
"... Sorry Sir..." Alec said.
"Haha very funny...go sit down" The teacher replied.
Alec sat down at his desk. Elliot went up to Alec with his rocket in hand. "Here you can be the one to launch it!" Elliot told Alec trying to be nice.
"Go away!" Alec demanded loudly. Elliot noticed bruises on Alec's face.
"It's time to launch the rockets everyone, give your rockets to me and follow me!" The teacher stated. Everyone who had rockets finished gave him the rockets. While everyone was following the teacher, Elliot noticed Alec going to the bathroom, he was worried about him, scared Alec was giving himself those bruises, so he followed Alec in reluctantly after thinking about the possibility he could do worse.
He walks in just to see Alec on the floor crying. "...Alec?..." Elliot called out to Alec.
"Great...just great...what do you want?...to laugh?" Alec asks, his voice is breaking up.
Elliot sits down next to Alec. "What's going on?" Elliot asked Alec, generally concerned.
"Leave me alone you fucking four eyed freak, no one likes you....."
"You're probably a disappointment to your family and I bet you were an accident!"
"Your dad probably hits you everyday, fucking loser" Alec stopped himself and started crying more and more.
"...Your dad hit you?" Elliot asked, insults falling off of him almost physically until he digests the last one.
"...what...where did you get that from?" Alec asked.
"When you're like this you will usually spit a lot of insults until the truth comes out," Elliot explained.
"...Fucking nerd.." Alec replies.
"....Do you want to tell me what's going on?..." Elliot asks. No response from Alec.
"How's your amazing life?" Alec asked mockingly after a moment.
"You know more than most people...it's not an amazing life..." Elliot responded.
"Still judgmental, I see! Fuckin' figures" Alec said. Elliot looks at Alec worriedly. "What? you look like you just accidentally stepped on a ladybug or something," Alec wondered.
Elliot remembered the situation from this morning and started panicking. Alec noticed, to say the least, "...Did your dad?" Alec blurred out without thinking. fuck! Alec thought in his head.
Elliot shakes his head. Elliot started crying uncontrollably. "...He ...is taking…hunting..." Elliot tried to tell Alec about the situation but he had a really hard time getting it out.
Alec understood him. I can't just allow him to do that, especially when I was the reason why he's crying because of my shit outbursts that impact his abusive household! Alec yelled in his head. I must do something, Alec thought in his head. "...W...w...want...a...hug?" Alec awkwardly asked Elliot as Alec spread his arms slowly.
"W...what!?" said Elliot.
"Answer before I change fucking my mind, four eyes!" Alec demanded loudly.
Elliot nods, slightly confused. Alec awkwardly went in front of Elliot and hugged him. Elliot cried in Alec's shoulder which makes Alec a little annoyed. Alec sighs, not really sure why he's talking "My dad started drinking again...and he...came home drunk yesterday.....he left to go to the club he used to got to, in the morning and so I didn't have a ride to school...and even though I could have drove to school, I don't have a car so I didn't go to school yesterday...once you left he came back and that's when he..." Alec stopped himself and started crying again.
"You need to tell someone," Elliot said gently.
"Why? he's my only family...." Alec replied.
"Your dad could kill you if he keeps hitting you!" Elliot said, almost breaking down.
"..." Alec didn't know what to say.
A long pause before anyone spoke, "What about Terry, your aunt?" Elliot asked.
"..." Alec tried to say something. This led to Alec starting to panic. "She...she..." Alec stopped himself.
"Hey! it's ok! there is no need to share what you don't want to!" Elliot said to try to calm Alec down.
".....My dad killed her" Alec stated.
"What?" Elliot shockingly said.
"That isn't the part I was panicking about," Alec explained.
"You should tell someone about your dad hurting you, or he might kill you by accident, please tell an adult or something, I don't want you to die!" Elliot exclaimed worriedly.
"...You should too....." Alec replied.
"What do you mean, I'm not getting beaten," Elliot said.
"No one should go through anything that you went through...if I have to then you should too!" Alec said.
"Why are you all of the sudden caring about me?" Elliot asked Alec, curious for Alec to answer.
"Shut the fuck up French fry looking ass," Alec replied.
"...I'm sorry Alec...I love my parents too much!" Elliot stated.
"Then why do I have to? I love my dad as well!" Alec told Elliot.
"...Because you could actually die...please Alec! don't die on me!" Elliot cried.
I must do something, they both promised in their head.
