Tori warned Ella when she called her name, her voice dripping with haste and terror. Ella quickly turned around to face the voice of her best friend. However, Tori later regretted her choice because Ella was now extremely near to the truck. Fear was racing down her spine, and she was unable to speak. Ella's frowns, which she didn't comprehend, quickly gave way to panic as soon as she heard the heavy truck's approaching horn. All she sensed was fear. She had the impression that her feet were firmly planted on the slick pavement. She simply continued harshly panting while having a few tears of disbelief well up in her eyes. She closes her eyes in terror as she accepts her fate as the horn beeps once more.
She was quickly pulled to the opposite side of the road, however, by a hard hold being applied to her right upper arm. She smacked against something solid with her eyes still closed. To grasp the source of the power, her hand shot into the air. She continued to breathe rapidly for some time before finally opening her eyes. She gasped once more as she fully opened her eyes and saw what was in front of her. She fell forward into a muscular chest. She blinked a few more times while lowering her sight before raising it once more. She saw a man peering down at her carelessly with silvery moon-like eyes.
She can't help but scan the face of her savior as she stares at his. "How long you are going to stare?"
She halts, a "Huh?" escaping her plump lips as the man in front of her mocks her. The man speaks again, but this time he is fixed intently on her emerald eyes. "I said how long you are going to stare?"
Ella quickly gets to her feet after gathering herself and looks down at her feet in embarrassment. However, it appeared as though the same moon-like eyes were once more staring down at her. Ella cautiously turns to look in his direction. She raises an eyebrow very little at him. He fixes his attention on his left upper arm instead of her face. Ella saw enough to bury herself in the ground and go underground for good. She had a solid hold of his upper arm. She quickly pulls away from his arm as her face becomes red from embarrassment. Ella stutters awkwardly, "Uh-I," as she struggles to find the right words.
Ella leaves his arm as the intimidating man shifts a little. She avoids making eye contact with him by looking elsewhere in order to prevent the extreme humiliation she is currently experiencing. The man gives her one more glance before he turns to the red-haired girl in front of him, as if waiting for her to say something. Ella was ready to respond when she noticed Tori racing in her direction and yelling angrily at her. Ella clenched her hands at her sides and cast another look in the direction of the man, but he was gone. She looks in all directions, but the man was nowhere to be found. As she tightly hugs her close buddy, she casts a quick glimpse towards Tori.
"Ella! You're okay?" While still giving her a strong hug, Tori asks. Ella, though, was fixated on the person who had given her life.
"Ella?" As she releases her friend from the hug and turns to face her, Tori asks once again.
Ella responds with a frantic bob of her head, "Yes, yes, Tori, I'm fine."
She said, "Thanks God!" as Tori gave her another bear hug. She suddenly releases and strikes her arm.
"Ouch! what was that for?" Ella groans.
"For showing what a giant dunce you are, Who would run on such a busy street? What if something untoward occurred?" Tori speaks in one breath, pausing only to look around. "Thanks to the male that saved you—"
"Wait, where did he go," she adds, drawing Ella's attention.
She murmurs, "I was thinking the same," as she takes a look around.
"Did he speak?" Tori asks out of nowhere.
"Huh?" Ella gives her a blank look.
"How did it go?" Tori re-asks.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Ella yells astonishingly.
"Well, how about that? In other words, did he say anything?" Tori politely asks.
"No..." Ella responds while remembering his face in her head.
Tori takes a little stop. She then gives her a shoulder pat and says, "It's okay. I can only utter the phrase 'God bless that angel.' Ok, let's go on now. We must get to the NGO."
Ella grins and playfully slaps her forehead, "Oh yeah."
"All right, now enter the bakery; I'll be watching; pardon me while I go park my damn car!" Tori exclaims as Ella chuckles. She motions for Tori to go as she opens the bakery door. Tori waves before driving off to park her car. Ella moves in the direction of the counter as the entrance door bell rings. She is greeted by the bakers, who were expecting her. The woman at the counter inquires, "Ella sweetheart, what brings you here?"
Ella cheerfully declares, "I came here to purchase donuts for my babies at the NGO and celebrate my graduation with them."
"Oh, goodness, congratulations. That is really admirable and kind of you. Take some chocolate cheesecakes too for the little angels from us," staff suggests.
"There is no need; you are already burdened, Please-" But when the bell sounds, they stop talking in the middle of their exchange, pointing to a customer's entry. Ella follows their attention as they all turn to face the customer. The customer was none other than the same guy who saved her life. currently approaching her as he stands next to her on the counter. "One iced Americano," he orders in his deep voice. He looks directly at the wall in front of him as the wait staff takes his order.
"Ella darling it's alright, please take our treat for the children. They will be happy. We ourselves are too busy to go at NGO but you always spend weekends and all your little celebrations with them. So it will nice if you take our goodies with you" Lady on the counter replies.
"Uh, only you all are insisting a lot, so..." Defeatedly, Ella says.
The man next to her was drawn in by Ella's voice. His eyes widened at the sight of the same redhead that he had earlier saved as he cast a peek down at her. Ella notices him staring at her, and he looks away hastily. Ella simply scowls and dismisses it.
The second woman at the counter says, "Sir, here's your order."
''Ella, dear, here's your order", the woman she was just speaking to says. She didn't get her order though since she was looking at the man leaving the bakery.
She hurriedly says, "Wait," and follows the male. Upon exiting the entrance, she turned to look around and was fortunate to see the man moving towards the right side of the store.
"Listen!" Ella yells with a soft and urgent voice, causing that male to stop in his tracks.
