Chapter 3 - Eldoria

"Oh... Oliver! My name is Oliver Blackwell!"

"Nice to meet you, Oliver! My name is Jennifer, but people here call me Jenny."

I tried to sit up from my bed. "Earlier, you said I was in the Kingdom of Eldoria, right?" I asked Jenny.

"Yes, you are currently in the Kingdom of Eldoria!"

"Do they accept foreigners to live here in this kingdom?" I asked Jenny.

"Are you really suffering from amnesia, Oliver? What do you remember besides your name?"

Actually, I didn't lose my memory at all, but if I were honest, I didn't know where to go, so I decided to pretend to have amnesia.

"I don't remember anything, apart from that. Can you explain to me about this Kingdom of Eldoria, Jenny?" I asked Jenny.

"Alright then, I will explain the history of the Kingdom of Eldoria itself. This kingdom has existed for approximately five hundred years. It was founded by His Majesty King Leopold the First, who united all the humans who had been victims of inter-racial wars. His Majesty King Leopold is a legend who saved humanity from extinction," explained Jenny.

"Inter-racial wars? What do you mean? Are there other races besides humans in this world?" I asked Jenny.

"Even for something that everyone already knows, did you forget? Of course, there are other races besides humans in this world! There are five major races that each have their own territories scattered throughout the world. These races include elves, orcs, goblins, chatterbeasts, and ourselves, humans!" explained Jenny.

"Five major races? Do you mean races with a large population?" I asked.

"Yes! In addition to that, there are other races, and some even form alliances with other races for specific purposes, like the Chaos Legion, which attacked us a few days ago."

"Chaos Legion?" I asked.

"Yes! The Chaos Legion has become a target for other kingdoms because their existence poses a great threat to the peace of this world. Their whereabouts are unknown, and there is an assumption that they are difficult to detect and defeat because they study cursed dark magic," Jenny explained.

"So, do all creatures in this world possess magical abilities?" I asked.

"Yes! It can be said that all living beings can use magic according to their capacity and usage, but not all creatures use it in the same way," explained Jenny.

"Not all creatures use it in the same way? What do you mean?" I asked.

"For example, the Elf race uses it for healing, the Orc race uses it to enhance their physical strength, and even other living beings like plants and trees can use it, although they don't have consciousness like us," Jenny explained.

So that's how it is...

I guess this world is no different from fantasy stories in movies and fairy tales, but the explanation from this woman named Jenny seems very serious. However, there is something that unsettles me.

There's a rumor that the Chaos Legion uses cursed dark magic that makes their existence difficult to detect. If that cursed magic is as powerful as rumored, then it means that anything in this world can become a reality, even the most unimaginable things.

In other words, there are various types of magic that can be used in this world?

I guess I'm starting to accept anything beyond reason in this world, starting from my own existence in this world, like the forest, those monkeys, and even the attack by the Chaos Legion and the meteor that fell a few days ago.

"Sorry, may I ask something?" I asked Jenny.

"Anything, go ahead. I'll answer if I know," she replied.

Earlier, you explained that the Elf race uses magic for healing, and you mentioned that the Orc race uses it to enhance physical strength. Then you said that the Chaos Legion possibly uses cursed dark magic. I'm wondering, how many types of magic exist in this world?"

"Unlimited!" Jenny answered briefly.

"What do you mean by unlimited?"

"I mean, for the types themselves, I don't know. It depends on how you use it. For example, like this."

I saw Jenny's body start to change. I saw two horns protruding upwards, wings emerging from her back resembling angelic wings but black in color, and her nails lengthening, clearly showing how Jenny uses her magic to transform herself into a demon ready to tear apart her enemies at any moment.

"For example, like this, there are several people in this kingdom who also use their powers to transform their bodies, just like me. With this body, I can fly, and my speed and physical strength increase rapidly," Jenny explained to me.

"Some people?"

"Yes, one of them is Aileen. She is a first-level warrior in this kingdom."

"First-level warrior?" I asked.

"In the Kingdom of Eldoria, someone can be called a warrior when they have completed the academy and have mastered the use of their own magic powers. In this kingdom, there are nine levels of warriors, and the first-level warriors are directly assigned by the king to protect him," Jenny explained.

"So, the first-level warriors are the highest rank?" I asked Jenny.

"I don't know, there's a rumor that there are Zero-level warriors, they are crazy people with strange powers. There's a rumor that one of the Zero-level warriors has the power to destroy an entire planet. It's ridiculous, isn't it? Hahaha!"

"Hey, what if you enroll as a new student in the academy? I think you probably don't remember how to use your powers, right?" Jenny said to me.

"Can I? I'm a stranger here," I asked.

"Don't worry, one of the mentors in the academy is my acquaintance. I can help you remember your powers, or maybe you'll even learn new ones. How about it?"

Well, as I said before, I actually didn't know where to go. It just happened that I got lost in the conflict area and luckily they saved me. Besides, it doesn't seem like a disadvantage to learn at the academy, and I also want to know if I can use magic powers like the people in this world or not.

"But I don't have anything to pay for the tuition," I replied to Jenny.

"Don't worry, you'll enter there on my recommendation. But as payment, after you graduate, you have to help me run a bar."

"Alright, I guess I don't have a choice."

After that, Jenny said that for now, I should focus on the healing process because my head seemed to be leaking due to the previous incident, and I had entered the recovery phase.

A week passed, and I started to feel that my physical condition was improving. I was allowed to go out and explore the kingdom. With so many people who could use magic, repairing the damage caused by the recent attack was not a big issue, and it didn't take long to restore everything to its original state.

During my recovery period, Jennifer was the one who always took care of me, so I became close to her. I learned that Jenny is the owner of the only bar in this kingdom, where many people go to unwind. Moreover, her bar also serves as a center for sharing job information for those who are not just royal warriors in this kingdom. There are various ways to earn money in this kingdom.

The economy in this world doesn't seem much different from my previous world. Many residents here cannot use magic, and most of those without such powers work as farmers, fishermen, or even livestock breeders.

For those who can use magic but didn't qualify to become royal warriors, they can work in various professions. It's not much different from freelancing in my world, and Jennifer's bar itself serves as an information hub for job opportunities in the Kingdom of Eldoria.

Jobs, missions, and pay vary depending on the employers. But what I love about this bar is the camaraderie and sense of family among the workers who depend on it for their livelihood.

"Hey Oliver! Are you feeling better?"

"Yes, I think today I'm much healthier than the last time I remember."

The person who greeted me just now is one of the workers at Jennifer's bar, a 25-year-old man with an oriental face and purple hair named Reid. He is the only person in this bar who works as a seventh-level royal warrior but often escapes from his duties and lazes around here.

"So, when are you going to enroll in the academy?" Reid asked me.

"Jenny is taking care of all the registration, and I think I'll enter the academy in about a week," I replied.

"Well, in that case, I hope you enjoy your life as a new student at the academy, HAHAHA," Reid said as he returned to his long chair to continue lazing around.

Time has passed so quickly. I've been spending my days assisting Jenny in managing her bar. Every day, there are always requests for posting job information that can be done by the freelancers who often hang out at this bar. I have been assigned to put up all the job information sheets provided by employers on a special board located in the middle of this room so that all visitors can see the latest job information.

Without realizing it, a week has gone by, and today is my first day of studying at the academy.
