THE FAMILY SHE LEFT BEHIND
Rosa paced back and forth in the living room, wringing her hands together in worry. Anthony, seated on the couch, let out a heavy sigh as he ran his hand through his hair.
"Where could she have gone?" Rosa asked for the millionth time that day.
"I don't know, Rosa," Anthony replied, his voice heavy with concern. "We've checked all of her usual spots, and nobody's seen her."
Jack and Roberto had been driving around town, scouring all of Debbie's favorite places. Camily was using her social media connections to see if anyone had spotted her. But despite their best efforts, Debbie was no where to be found.
The family had been on edge since Debbie stormed out of the house earlier that day. It wasn't the first time she had left like this, but it was the longest she had ever been gone. Rosa couldn't help but worry that something terrible had happened.
Anthony stood up from the couch and walked over to Rosa. He took her hands in his and looked her straight in the eye. "We're going to find her, Rosa. I promise."
Rosa nodded, her eyes red and puffy from crying. "I just don't understand why she would do this," she said softly.
"We may never know why," Anthony replied. "But what's important right now is finding her and bringing her back home."
The family continued to search for Debbie through the night, but their efforts turned up no leads. Rosa and Anthony stayed up all night waiting for any news, but nothing came.
It wasn't until the next morning that they received a call from the local police department. A patrol officer had spotted a guy driving on the highway with a girl that looks like Debbie, several miles out of town. She was looks safe and didn't seem forced.
Rosa and Anthony were disappointed in their daughter, tears streaming down their faces because they know she wasn't coming back anymore.
"Is Debbie alright mom?" Roberto asked softly as he noticed the grim expression on his mother's face "where is she?"
"Debbie is not coming home anymore, she left with Pablo, the police saw her leaving the town with Pablo," Rosa said as she wiped away her tears. "Let's not worry, she is an adult and we should let her be, okay?"
The family was upset but there was nothing they could do, according to the law Debbie was already an adult, she was nineteen and could make her own decisions even if her father use his connections and find her location, what the point anyway beside that, she has also brought shame to the family.
"I thought Debbie was smart, guess I was wrong, running away with Pablo, that's just dumb." Roberto was disappointed in his big sister.
Jack was sitting in a corner in the room, his head bent on his knees. Jack was the one who was disappointed the most, he blamed himself, he saw her when she was leaving but did nothing to stop her even when he had suspicions when he saw her carrying those bags on her hands, but one thing he didn't know was Camily also saw her leaving.
Camily was with her friends, they were shopping in a boutique when she saw a black jeep entering a gas station across the boutique, the jeep stopped to buy gas and she saw Debbie through the window of the boutique, Debbie was sitting comfortably and staring at her lover Pablo as he paid for the gas. she went out of the boutique and wanted to shout Debbie's name but the car drove off with a loud banging noise.
