Chereads / Lilith: The Angel of Death / Chapter 3 - Heal faster than Asclepius

Chapter 3 - Heal faster than Asclepius

After not eating for a whole day, Lilith's stomach growled in hunger and she finally stood up. She felt a little dizzy at first as she hold onto the wall for support and after then, her gaze finally settled and she walked out of the room to the sitting room.

Harriet and her family were having breakfast.

According to Lilith's knowledge, Harriet has five kids, two boys, and three girls, 20 years old Alfred who was a guard in the palace, 18 years old Brian who was a stable boy and Jane, a 15 years old girl, Sara was 12 and Emma, 9.

Alfred and Brian were not around and the ones on the dining table were Harriet, her three girls, and her husband, Curtis Beasant, who was sitting in a wheelchair.

The first to see her was Harriet and she hurriedly walked to her. "Lilith, you're awake?"

Lilith nodded with a smile.

"Wow, that's good."

The family was warm and they all welcome her into their midst.

Lilith joined them in breakfast and after that, she stood up to help Jane pack the dishes but she was stopped by Harriet.

"This is not the time yet, Lilith, you just woke up, you deserved to rest and heal very well."

Lilith smiled at her words but still continued packing the dishes. "Let me do it, Harriet, and I am not physically injured, I was just mentally tired."

Since her persuasion didn't work, Harriet sighed and she and Sara left for her fruit shop.

Curtis left for his shoemaking shop with Mabel, leaving behind Jane and Lilith.

Just as they finished washing the dishes, a knock was heard on the door and Jane went to open it.

A tall lean boy of her age was standing there with a bag of fruits in his arm and Jane had never seen his face before, eyebrows raising, she asked. "Who are you looking for?"

Jack smiled widely. "Hi, My name is Jack and I am looking for Lilith."

"Lilith?" Jane asked again and let him in before calling out.

"Lilith!"

The kitchen was not far from the living room and Lilith's voice could be heard. "What?"

"You have a visitor."

Lilith frowned when she heard this, she only has one friend and she was sure that he was very busy, her step-siblings were out of the picture as their wish was always that she died.

Yes. That's how her life was since she was born by a mere maid.

And that's one of the reasons why her mother tried to hide her by resigning at the Millward Castle to a small village after she discovered that she was pregnant, and so, she was born there.

However, the matriarch finds out about her origin after a visit to the village, since only the members of the Millward family have purple eyes. Then she was taken away from her mother, while her mother was widely recognized as the maid that seduces her master.

Her legal mother, the duchess hate her (Lilith) so much and so, her life was pretty much hard.

Her room was like that of a maid, she didn't even live in the main residence and she was always in the shadow of her three step-siblings a boy, 19, and two other twins of her age.

She can only eat the food they didn't want, leftover sometimes and she only wore the clothes they once wore, in fact, her existence was a pure mistake, and many nobles didn't even know of her existence.

However, this is not the worst part of her life, because her legal mother was training her in secret!

In Serenia Kingdom, noblewomen are trained to be delicate, rarely can you see one working her ass out. However, her legal mother didn't care about this, she wanted to train her to be a knight in shining armor to protect her daughters and Lilith has to say, the woman overestimate herself. Treating her like that and expecting her to be grateful enough to protect her kids with her life, wasn't that overestimation of her kindness and an underestimation of her brain?

Back to the present, Lilith walked to the living room and she was surprised to see her only friend, Jack standing there.

Jack was the stable boy in the Millward family, the only one that get closer to her when everyone avoided her like a pharaoh.

"Jack!" Her eyes brightened with surprise as she jumped onto him, hugging him.

"Lilith!"

Both of them hugged and then broke apart to look at each other.

"I am glad you are fine", Jack said, his brown eyes checking her out for any injury.

"Of course, don't you know who I am, I am the great goddess Lilith, I can even heal faster than Asclepius and Hygeia." Lilith joked and both of them laughed.
