Chapter 7 - I have no family

"Old woman, don't you know that a drunk man speaks a sober heart? when a person is drunk, they say the truth, and it is the same with this scum here, he is saying the truth." Lilith had her arm crossed on her chest as she said this.

The people were speechless but they knew she was right. Remembering that her real appearance will recover soon, she didn't bother to spare anyone any more glances as she twisted her hips and strode away.

But what she didn't know was that not far away was a young handsome man dressed luxuriously, he glanced at her back and then turned away with a blank expression.

By the time Lilith arrived at Lucas's shop, she has retained her original appearance, her long flowy red hair was like a fire, shining against the sun and her whole presence shouted of innate elegance, something she herself didn't notice. People couldn't help but look at her twice, for she was just so beautiful.

Arriving at Lucas's shop, it was desolate as usual, with no customers, and not that the old man cared.

"Why are you here, young lady?" Lucas squinted his eyes, back resting against the wall as he sat at the edge of the chair.

"For you of course," Lilith didn't bother to be formal as she sat at the side, eyes drooping, ready to take a nap.

Even she can get drunk.

"And what can I help you with?"

Closing her eyes, Lilith said in a monotone voice. "You are my Mom's friend so I am here to visit you, it is so much boring at home." She opened her eyes and look at him from its corner. "Okay okay, Old man, stop disturbing me and let me have some good rest here, okay?"

Saying this, she shut her eyes.

Lucas was speechless. He felt that he was the one who went to another person's shop and not the other way around.

And soon, he heard her evenly breathing, indicating that she is asleep. He couldn't help but shake his head, she is way too trusting.

Lilith woke up at noon when the sun is at its highest, she stretched her arms lazily when she suddenly caught a whiff of a delicious aroma.

Sniffing in the air again to confirm her guess, she successfully sniffed to the source and was surprised to see Lucas eating.

"Oh my God, who cook this delicious meal?" She asked, eyeing the bowl in front of him.

"You're awake?" Lucas asked back and pointed inside the shop, "Your share is inside."

Lilith's eyes brightened in surprise and delight and she rushed in, grabbed her bowl, and swallowed, she dig in.

"Thanks, Lucas, the meal is delicious."

Saying this, she continued eating and wouldn't stop marveling at how delicious the meal he cooked was.

Lucas chuckled as he watched her purple eyes shine now and then in delight.

And the way she ate, he can't help but shake his head, she look like someone who was starving since long ago.

"Don't rush too much." He told her, she nodded, and tried to eat slower but, her effort is futile.

"Your family is blessed." She gulped, eating the last spoon of the meal. "To have such a good cooker."

Lucas shook his head. "I don't have a family."

"What?!" Lilith was surprised but then nodded. "Your friends are blessed then."

He shook his head again. "None also."

It was silent for a long time before Lilith finally said.

"Then I am one."

"Where to wash the dish?" She asked, standing up.

"Leave it for me and go home."

"Nah." Lilith insisted, looking around.

"Young lady, it is not like you know how to wash it," He pointed out.

Lilith's cheek turned red, a little embarrassed, and she puffed her chest. "What do you mean? And how do you even know?"

Lucas chuckled. "I told you, your mother is a friend and she told me pretty much about your life."

Lilith was surprised at this and then, she humphed. "I can learn."

Lucas waves frustratedly. "Better go home now, otherwise, I wouldn't cook for you next time."

Lilith pouted and relented.

After chatting with him for some time, she went home but she was surprised to see a luxurious carriage in front of Harriet's house, and also with the guards surrounding it, it seems out of place considering the fact that the neighborhood is a slum.
