"I was shocked when I heard that you were unconscious." Jack paused and continued. "And... I am sorry about your parents."
Lilith flashed him a smile. "Thanks. Anyway, I am fine now, aren't I?"
Jack also smile at her in pity, but he knew she was saying the truth when she said she was fine, after all, she didn't have a reason to lie to him.
"Are you going to be living here from now on?" Jack was curious.
Lilith shook her head. "Nope, I will go back to Duke's house."
"What?!" Jack jumped up in shock but he sat back seeing the weird look on Lilith's face. He coughed in embarrassment before asking.
"Didn't you always say that you are tired of living with them? Lilith, they treated you bad enough so why the hell in the world are you going back there?"
A weak smile appeared on Lilith's face but her brain was working at a fast pace. Her motive was very dangerous and she didn't want to get Jack into trouble.
"See Jack, if I didn't go, they will come for me..."
Jack looks at her face for a long time before finally saying. "Whatever you do, if you need my help on it, don't hesitate to tell me"
Lilith smiles again. She didn't know if it was a good or bad thing that she had a friend that knew her like the back of his hand.
"Sure!" She nodded and her gaze went to the bag of fruit in his hand and her purple eyes shone.
"Are they for me?"
Jack nodded and instantly, Lilith's hand went for a bunch of raspberries.
"This taste like heaven," She nodded while Jack smiled seeing the way she ate so innocently.
After a while, he stood up and take ten silver coins out, and handed them to her. "I think you will need some money,"
Lilith shook her head. "Nope, I am not collecting this, this is worth your two months' salary."
"This is just the money I was keeping, and I have another ten with me, so don't worry."
Lilith sighed and collected the money, knowing that he would insist if she refused to collect it.
"Okay then. I am going." He said and bade goodbye to Jane, who just walked out of her room while Lilith walked him out.
After Jack left, Lilith decided to go to the market. She needed a bow and arrows.
The market was as noisy as usual.
Reaching the weapon section, she checked out various bows but for one reason or the other, upon asking for Estelle's thought, all were rejected.
She was about to go back home when she suddenly heard Estelle's excited voice.
"Milady, the one over there is the right one for you!"
Lilith look at the bow Estelle was talking about. It was an inconspicuous bow hanging out of a stall in the corner. Unlike the others she had seen with various designs as if one wanted to perform an art instead of fighting, this one has a dull black color but according to Estelle, it was tailored for her which she didn't doubted.
She happily walked to the stall. The owner was an old man with white hair and droopy eyes, his attitude was completely different from other sellers who appeared enthusiastic but Lilith didn't care.
Her finger grazed the bow lovingly, if possible, she wanted to shoot right there and know what Estelle meant.
"Young Lady, that bow costs 100 silver coins." The old man said and Lilith's hand froze before she look at the man stiffly.
"...100 what?"
"100 silver, drop it if you can't afford it."
"Aya, young lady, how about you come and check this bow out? It was made from a very strong and elastic tree and wouldn't break easily, it only cost 10 silvers." The owner of the stall beside the old man said.
If it was a normal person, they would surely drop the old man's bow in an instant and go for the cheaper one but Lilith didn't, not when she heard Estelle's excited voice that was urging her to take it. She ignored the man and turned to the old man.
"How about I give you..." She suddenly stopped and sighed.
Gosh, how can she say that all she had was 30 silvers with the addition of the 10 silvers that Jack gave her?
She blinked and changed her approach. "Old man, how about you give me a discount?"
The old man look at her for a moment and then stroke his beard, seemingly in thought. After a long time, he finally opened his mouth but what he said made her raise her eyebrow in surprise. "Is your mother Lucinda?"
She blinked and then nodded.
"How is she?" The old man asked.
Lilith's expression changed as she glared at the old man. Was he spiting her?
With her hands on her waist, she said coldly.
"If you don't want to sell, then don't! Why are you mocking me? Let me tell you, if you dare to use my mother to mock me again, I will destroy your shop and drag you to kneel at her grave!"
The old man's eyes widened and he stood up in abrupt shock when he heard her last word.
