Chapter 16 - Grumpy old man

"Don't you feel bad for her?" Ryan questioned him nodding once.

He with his brother was on their way to visit their grandfather who was still in the hospital under the care of a professional doctor.

While walking in the corridor, Roff mood suddenly darkened, "What to care for a fake?" he exaggerated in a loud tone and in return got a chuckle from his brother who was drinking his cold coffee.

"I wasn't talking about her but the real Leigh. She was your fiancée, right? Did you not feel bad for her death?"

"Who won't? of course I do but that's only sympathy and nothing more. We barely met when she was alive and she was well aware that I had no feelings for her". He averted his gaze away hiding his guilty eyes.

Rather than sympathy, he felt more guilty toward her because he always chased her away whenever she tried to approach him and that he always showed his dislike toward her openly. His actions were hurting but for him behaving that way was the only method to get out of that unwanted engagement.

But now that she was dead, he was feeling guilty for always hurting her but nothing more than that.

And as they entered the VVIP room, they both completely left the topic behind as their main focus was to look after their grandfather.

The old man was getting his dosage of medicine after completing his food that took him ages to eat because of his picky nature.

Two tired nurses were still brimming with fake smile in front of their VVIP customer who was also a director of the hospital.

"I see, Dr. Krnal isn't here, he must be busy taking care of his other patients," Roff yanked his grandfather attention who was being grumpy toward the nurses for being fed bitter medicine.

"Ohho, my kids are here! Come, come," his annoyed look changed in a blink as a brimming smile took over his face.

Roff sat at the chair next to the bed while Ryan gestured the nurses to leave the medicine with him.

The two nurses walked out hiding their sigh of relief.

"Hmm, so you were being grumpy over taking your medicine, ha?" Roff shook his head, laughing mockingly and took a tablet from Ryan hand, "Now hurry up and have it or else, I will ask brother to keep you here for another week".

His childish threat made the old man to give a furious look as he frowned and slapped his grandson head, "Huh, are you threatening me? Nobody else but me! Don't you know who I am, I will…"

He paused after Roff sneakily placed the pill in his mouth and took the glass of water near his mouth for him to swallow the medicine.

"Now it's done," he smiled cutely at his shocked grandfather who was giving him deathly glares.

Ryan sat at the other side of the bed and held his grandfather hand, "Don't worry, we will soon be taking you home".

"Hah!" he harrumphed at Roff and threw a kind look at Ryan, "See this is how a grandson should be. How can a brat like you become my son's child?" he turned his head toward Roff with his narrow lids.

Roff chuckled, "Mother says, I took after you. Hmm… now I wonder how your son got a child like me".

"This brat!" he bit his lips in fury and ignored Roff as he led his eyes over his elder grandson, "So, did you send that girl as Leigh?"

The surrounding became a bit grim with Roff scowling on his own. He swallowed as he gritted his teeth and stared at his brother who nodded.

"Yes, we did as you asked…"

Even before Ryan could complete his words, Roff spoke in midst, "Grandpa, I don't understand why are you letting a terrorist stay with a deceased family?" he stood up in rage, his brows were creased showing his deep dissatisfaction.

His grandpa let out a sigh, he was about to speak when Roff again interrupted, "You know, a terrorist will always be a terrorist more when she has lived there from a very young age. This might put the Filin family in danger and if something happens to them… geez, I don't want you to be harmed in anyway," he whined.

Grandpa Gordon scratched between his brows seeing his grumpy child and again let out a deep sigh, "Your fiancée… last wish was this".

His eyes turned down.

When Leigh was only 12, he decided to engage her with his grandson and left the later decision with the girl but afterwards he barely got any time to meet with her. But knowing that she was kidnapped, he started to look for her without even considering that the 12 years old Leigh he has seen before had a much different look after a complete 8 year.

A moment went in silence. He took a deep breath and lifted his head, "I think she is a kind girl but in case what you say is right, make sure to keep an eye on her and also, break your engagement officially since from now on she is going to be Leigh".
