Chapter 4 - Fixing her.

As Theovin landed softly, he looked up to see a human girl staring at him with wide-open eyes, clearly startled.

He could tell what was going through her mind, but there was no time to explain himself. All he did was to lock eyes with her and yell, "GO!"

The girl screamed in terror and ran away as fast as she could. Theovin knew he couldn't waste time worrying about her reaction, so he turned his attention back to the task at hand.

Just as he was about to call out for Mavin, he saw him emerge from the room wearing nothing but a towel around his waist.

It was likely that Mavin had been in the shower and had come out when he heard the woman's voice.

Mavin stood there, staring at Theovin in disbelief, as if Theovin had suddenly sprouted a second head.

"Theovin, why didn't you call or tell me you were coming? I had company and now you've scared her away!" Mavin scolded Theovin.

Mavin glared at Theovin, and shook his head. "You could have waited to be invited in like a polite guest. It's disrespectful to enter someone's home unannounced."

Mavin crossed his arms over his midsection as he spoke.

Mavin's expression grew more incredulous as he continued. "Where did you even come from? If you had come in through the door, it would have triggered the second array."

Theovin was going to interrupt Mavin when he turned around and Theovin witnessed his eyes went about two inches wider. He screamed.

Mavin turned back to Theovin, his voice rising with anger. "And why on earth did you think breaking the window was a great way to come in here?" Mavin's face was twisted in a fit of anger as he spoke.

While Theovin enjoyed riling him up, he didn't have the energy for it today.

Ignoring Mavin's angry glare, Theovin carefully made his way towards the giant bed in the middle of the room. The bed was covered in a royal blue blanket with apples printed all over it.

He was just about to lower Rosey gently to the bed when the pungent odor of something that had occurred in this very room reached his nostrils.

Theovin stepped back instinctively, his grip on Rosey tightening as he growled possessively. 'I don't want another man's scent on my mate,' he thought fiercely. Gold Song seemed to echo his sentiments, his eyes flashing as he repeated, "MINE! MINE!"

Theovin walked briskly towards the door and grabbed the handle, intending to open it. However, in his haste, he applied too much force, and the handle broke off, leaving the door locked and him trapped inside.

Theovin groaned in frustration, realizing that he didn't have time to deal with a broken door handle. Without hesitation, he took a deep breath and kicked the door open with all his might.

The sound of the wood splintering echoed through the room with a gasp from behind, but he didn't care.

He had to keep moving, and he couldn't let something as simple as a broken door slow him down.

"Let's go!" Theovin bellowed, as he charged forward, his heart pounding with adrenaline.

Mavin hesitated for a moment, eyeing the wreckage on the floor, but then he nodded and ran after Theovin, his footsteps echoing through the empty hallway.

Theovin walked with confident steps, as if he knew the place like the back of my hand. In reality, he was just searching for another door, hoping it would lead him to a room.

A door caught his eye a few steps away, and he made his way towards it.

As he approached the door once again, he made a conscious effort to control his strength and calmly opened it, relieved to find that it didn't break.

As Theovin peered into the room, he felt a wave of gratitude towards his ancestors for his luck _it was a bedroom.

With quick strides, he approached the bed, its white bedsheet neatly spread out and appearing freshly laundered.

Mavin, looking annoyed, reluctantly followed him into the room.

Theovin didn't bother surveying the room. Instead, he made a beeline for the bed and began to slowly unwrap his wings - the very wings that had protected his mate during the crash.

Theovin carefully laid her down on the bed and that's when he realized her heart was still beating faintly _if he hadn't focused on the sound, he might not have heard it at all.

The steady beat of her heart brought a smile to his lips and calmed him, until a tired sigh from the person behind him snapped him out of his trance.

Remembering that Mavin still had to check on his mate, Theovin reluctantly stepped aside and gave him access to her, telling him urgently, "Fix her!"

Mavin dropped his shoulders in resignation and stepped closer to the bed, ready to begin treating her.

Mavin took one look at his mate and let out a low whistle. "Oh, so what do we have here, a human? More like skins on bones... Where did you find her?" he asked, disgust etched on his face.

Mavin was clearly upset. "No, no, no, there is no way you just disturbed my time with Riley for this... to fix her," he said, frustrated. "Theovin, she is human! he added, emphasizing his point.

Mavin continued to talk, oblivious to the change in atmosphere. Unbeknownst to him, the air was thick with a palpable killing intent, and someone's aura was growing darker by the moment.

Theovin's voice thundered with anger. "You will cease speaking and fix her!" he demanded, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Mavin turned to face Theovin. If he had been a dragon he would have been thrusting his chest out in submission.

Mavin turned to face Theovin, though a Warlock with a mix of elf blood, he couldn't help feeling scared. He stood before Theovin, his body tense and his gaze fixed on the ground.

Mavin didn't want to have his head sliced off in his hands, so he stretched his arm forward, conjuring a blinding white light that enveloped the human.

The light shone brighter before gradually beginning to dim. As it faded, the human's face was flushed with a blush of red.

Mavin thought with irritation, the frustration building up within him as he repeated the words to himself, 'The damn human is just malnourished and had fainted.'

He took a deep breath before continuing with a slow, deliberate pace, 'And now this hulk of a man has come to call me!'

Theovin's voice was demanding as he asked, "How is she?"

Mavin replied, "She is doing well, but she appears to be malnourished."

Theovin spoke calmly, "You may leave now."

Mavin questioned in astonishment, "What?"

Mavin was going to protest, but decided against it. He muttered to himself, 'You use me then you ditch me...' before turning and making his way out of the room.

Rosey sired on her place in the bed getting Theovin's attention.

As her consciousness started to return, she felt a fuzziness in her head and struggled to remember what was happening.

Living on the streets had prevented her from resting peacefully or letting her guard down, as survival required constant alertness and awareness of her surroundings.

With her eyelids feeling heavy, she raised her arms and reached out with both hands, feeling around for any clues to her surroundings.

Her fingers searched the surface beneath her, tracing the contours of what felt like a soft, cushioned material.

As she explored her surroundings with her fingertips, the texture and softness of the material beneath her confused her.

She felt a sense of vulnerability as she realized that she had no idea where she was or how she had gotten there.

She focused on the sensations around her, hoping for more clues to her situation, but all she could hear was the sound of her own breathing and the thumping of her heart.

A sense of panic began to set in as she struggled to remember what had happened.
