Chapter 7 - Fear of a mate.

After searching for some time, Theovin couldn't find the glitter he had seen before. Feeling frustrated and about to give up, he stood up from the ground.

Then, he saw a glimmer of light again. 'Hmm,' he thought to himself, 'It only shows itself when standing at an angle.'

He adjusted his position and saw the glitter again. The tiny latch seemed to be playing hide and seek, but he was determined to find it.

Theovin scratched his neck absentmindedly, his gaze fixed on the glitter in front of him.

It was clearly enchanted, he could tell by the way it shimmered in the dim light.

"Truly magic at its finest," he muttered to himself. "There's probably a latch around here somewhere...I wonder what Mavin is hiding in there."

He paused, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. But his reverie was short-lived. 'Sadly,' he thought with a sigh, 'I won't be able to spend time here to find out.'

'I have something urgent to take care of.' With that, he turned on his heel and strode briskly away from the door, leaving the mystery of Mavin's hidden secrets behind.

As Theovin left the closet door behind, he retraced his steps back down the shadowy hallway.

His footsteps echoed softly on the polished stone floor as he made his way towards the kitchen.

Theovin approached the kitchen and heard voices emanating from it. As he drew closer, he could discern some of the conversation.

Suddenly, he caught the last sentence coming out of Mavin's mouth.

As Theovin listened in on Mavin's conversation, he heard him say, "He has been acting crazy recently because of that human."

"Who do you think she is?" Ralph asked. Theovin tensed at the mention of Rosey then decided to reveal himself.

"So I order you, and you have the guts to come here, sit down, and chat with Mavin? Seems I have been too lenient with you," Theovin said in a low growl.

He stepped forward, making himself known to Ralph and the others in the room. They both turned to look at him, surprised by his sudden appearance.

Theovin startled both Ralph and Mavin, who were sitting on the kitchen countertop facing each other.

'What imprudence It seems I have not been governing my subordinates very well.' Theovin thought.

Upon hearing Theovin's voice, Ralph instantly jumped down from the counter, his heart racing with fear.

He scurried to the nearest cabinet, opening it with shaky hands and frantically combing through its contents.

He needed to find something, anything, that humans could eat.

As he rummaged through the cabinet, his eyes darted from one item to the next.

He paused briefly at a pile of unfamiliar plant roots, wondering briefly what the hell Mavin used them for.

But he didn't have time to dwell on it for long. He quickly moved on, his gaze scanning the shelves for anything else that might be edible.

After a few seconds of frantic searching, his eyes fell on a set of small containers containing different colored powders.

He couldn't be certain what they were, but he knew they weren't meant to be eaten.

Without pausing for a moment, Ralph moved to the next cabinet, his heart pounding in his chest.

His hands shook as he reached for the handle, his anxious mind racing with thoughts of what he might find inside.

As soon as he opened the cabinet, he breathed a sigh of relief. The first thing he saw was a small container of salt, and he felt his tense muscles relax just a little.

He grabbed the container eagerly, then turned to face a scowling Theovin, who was clearly not pleased with their presence in the kitchen.

With a proud expression on his face, Ralph extended his hand, holding the container of salt out to Theovin as though it were a prize.

"It was a long and grueling search, but I refused to give up. Finally, my persistence paid off and I found what I was looking for," Ralph said, his eyes shining with triumph.

Theovin stared at Ralph for a few moments before moving slowly towards him.

As he got closer to Ralph, Theovin noticed sweat starting to stream out of Ralph's pores.

Mavin attempted to make a swift exit from the kitchen, but was abruptly halted in his tracks by an unseen force that held him firmly rooted to the ground.

"That damn Theovin," he muttered under his breath, recognizing the source of the unexpected obstruction.

Mavin cursed and began breaking the bind Theovin had on him. After all, he was the most feared warlock for a reason.

Ralph shuddered as Theovin approached, his hand reaching out and gripping his neck in a vice-like hold, his claws digging in with surgical precision.

A chill settled over the kitchen as the temperature seemed to plummet in a matter of seconds.

Ralph's legs shook with fear, and he realized with a sinking feeling that he was about to wet his pants.

'I should have just gotten the food,' he muttered to himself, 'but that damn goat distracted me. Now look where I've ended up.'

Ralph tilted his head to expose his neck and thrust out his chest in a gesture of submission.

Theovin's tense posture relaxed, and he let out a deep growl as he stepped back, his eyes narrowing.

"You should never counter or disregard my orders again." Theovin said.

"Yes," Ralph replied promptly, his voice barely above a whisper.

Theovin turned to face Mavin, a sinister smile curving his lips. "And what did I hear you say as I walked in?" he asked, his tone almost playful.

With a flick of his wrist, he let go of Ralph's neck, and the he slumped over, gasping for air. Finally free of the tension and trauma, he collapsed onto the ground.

Theovin stalked towards Mavin, his face contorted with rage. As he drew closer, his features started to shift and change.

His eyes blazed a fiery shade of gold, and small golden scales appeared on both sides of his jawline and forehead, receding into his hairline. Mavin face, a mask of terror as he realized what was happening.

His once blue hair now had streaks of gold running through it, and his skin seemed to glow with a golden light, giving him an almost otherworldly appearance.

As he stood there, his body radiated power and strength, and his eyes blazed with an intense golden fire.

It was clear that he had taken on the original form of his Dragon King soul.

Left all alone in the room, Rosey slowly lifted her head from the pillow she had been crying into.

As she wiped away her tears, she heard the door snap shut behind the imposing man.

Straining her ears, Rosey listened carefully for any sounds, but heard nothing. She decided to wait and see if the man would return.

The man's very presence struck fear into her heart.
