Muriel blinks her eyes thrice, trying to calm her throbbing head. After what seemed like a few seconds, she was able to slowly flap her eyes open but her head aches a lot. Her vision is still blurry but she can hear the voice of a male– a beautiful but yet strong voice to be precise. She's confused, she's finding it so hard to clear her vision and understand her environment.
"You are awake," she heard the same voice, the voice is mild, sweet and masculine. The voice is coming from beside her, and she feels a strong masculine hand caressing her front hair gently, she can slightly feel the tingling sensation when his fingers brush her forehead down through her hair.
She slowly tilted her head to the right. Her vision is still not vivid and her head pounds in critical pain as if it's going to break apart. She can only see the illusionary view of the person sitting beside her but even through that dim view, Muriel guessed that whoever it is, is extremely beautiful.
Trying so hard to open her eyes, Muriel felt constant pain in her head at each intention. The pain is so severe. Realizing that trying to force her eyes open is the cause of the pain, Muriel closed her eyes once again and didn't bother to open them. She just wants this pain to stop. She also needs to be awake after the pain releases and scrutinize her environment, she's scared she might be in her enemy's den.
The last thing Muriel was able to remember is the hoarse and enraged growl of something or a beast she couldn't decipher before darkness engulfed her. Muriel was even surprised that she held on and didn't die as the evil spooky creature was strangling her until the moment she heard that growl. She never thought she could survive from those vicious creatures that killed her parents, or maybe she didn't. Could she be in heaven right now? But she isn't supposed to feel any pain in heaven, well, that's what she was told…. once you die, all the pain will be gone.
If she's not in heaven, then where is she? She's so weak to find out.
Having her eyes closed now, Muriel was able to recall most of the things that happened before she fell into darkness. As she remembered those gruesome scenes, Muriel's body couldn't help but shake in utmost fear, her heart beating rapidly in so much agony. She couldn't hold back the tears as she felt her heart burning in so much pain.
She slowly let the tears flow down her pale cheeks but she felt a warm finger which gently wiped the tears away and caressed her cheeks. Muriel slightly shuddered from the touch, not because she was afraid but because of the ecstatic chill she felt.
She is too weak to open her eyes and find out who touched her so she let it slide. Maybe she's imagining things as her head is filled with lots of things.
Muriel wonders if she will be able to stay normal again after what she witnessed? Will she forget those brutal scenes? She really felt traumatized and doesn't think she will ever heal from it.
What will she heal from? Is it watching her parents being sucked to dryness and torn apart?
They were the only people Muriel relied on, the only people she can talk to and they will understand her language. Being an extremely introvert, Muriel has only her parents and loves them so dearly, they love her too. But Muriel had to lose both people she loved in one day and in the most wicked and cruel way.
Muriel knew that she wouldn't be able to get over what happened to her parents or what her eyes saw. It drew all the adrenaline in her body and rendered her body stiff and extremely shocked. She has never seen such a thing in her life before or witnessed such death and the people killed in those wicked ways were her parents.
How can she forget her parents? She can't believe that all of a sudden, she's now an orphan. Her parents are gone, they are gone forever and she will be lonely forever. Another hot tear fell down her cheeks and once again she felt a warm finger wiping them away gently. Right now, Muriel doesn't think that it was just her imagination… it is real.
She remembers seeing someone sitting beside her through her blurry view, could the person be the one wiping away her tears.
Her body tensed at the thought that he might be her enemy, could he be one of those creatures that killed her parents?
Muriel gulps down as she's damped in fear, her fists tightened on something she thinks will be a bedsheet. It was at this moment she realized that she's on a bed,a soft bed to be precise but how did she end up on a bed. Where exactly is she?
She struggles again to open her eyes, she really needs to know where she is. In case it's a bad place, she will find a way to escape.
The moment she was trying to slide her eyes open, the image of how her parents were killed brutally stood in front of her view as if she's watching a live stream, it's not as the moment she only thought about it, this time it felt like it's re-happening in front of her once again.
The vengeful fear that quickly took over her made her scream in terror and her body shocked repulsively with hot tears rushing down her cheeks as a running tap. What she's feeling right now is ineluctable.
As she was struggling on the bed to control the pains and fears in her heart, a strong arm drew her close to himself and hid her in his wide embrace but she's still struggling to let go. Right now, she's scared of everything, a touch, a blood… anything at all. She's greatly traumatized.
"Shhh, I am here, I won't let anything happen to you…that I promise you."
Alexander meant every bit of his words. He won't let anything or anyone harm his mate.
