Passing through the large gates, towering limestone buildings stood tall amongst the lively city.
The market was bustling, and there were crowds of people everywhere. It was a far cry from the small villages Ines was used to.
There were couples hand in hand, young children and their mothers' shopping, and sellers advertising their goods.
"Buy three apples, you get the fourth for free!" A hawker repeatedly shouted.
A middle-aged woman snatched his sign off his cart and threw it on the ground, screaming, "Hey! Give me back my money you damn bastard! All the apples you sold me had rotted not even an hour after I bought them from you!"
"Ma'am! I don't even know who you are- you have the wrong person!"
Ines giggled, her eyes twinkling as she looked around. After seeing the lively atmosphere of Halsted City, she had been infected by the joy around her, and her mood became more uplifting.
As the carriage came to a stop, two servants opened the carriage door and bowed.
