LUCIAN'S POV. -
The smile never left my lips as I drove towards my penthouse. Her face was the only thing on my mind throughout the whole ride. I didn't even realise when I reached my place. Parking the car, I walk towards the elevator and pressed the button. While waiting for the lift, my mind again went back to her. 'How beautiful she looked even in such a simple attire. Her hair, her smile, her features, everything is carved on my mind.' I got her details in the evening as Ryan tried his best to gather everything he could give me. He looked quite happy while handing me the file of Livie. He was surely happier than me.
I chuckle as the lift door opens making me step inside. I pressed the top floor button while thinking about her, again. The file which Ryan gave me had all her information like her birth details, her parent's detail, where she grew up, her hobbies, her profession, her liking and disliking, and her friend's info too. I read everything carefully to know more about her. There were details about her father but about her mother, there were only a few things. "I tried but didn't find much about her mother." That's what Ryan said. But I shrugged it off cause for me, her identity is more important.
The point is, I finally found out that she's not a danger. I was already sure that she can't be harmful to me or my pack. But as now Ryan cleared it himself, I'm more relaxed. The only thing left now is to confirm that she is my mate. Well, I'm more than sure that she's my mate. But for Ryan's convenience, I have to confirm it. There are lots of ways to do that. I can try hearing her thoughts and talking to her in her mind. I can do that with my pack's members. But as she's not a wolf but a human, I think it will be hard. I can hear and talk with her but she won't be able to understand as she doesn't know anything about it. And it can scare her. I can also make her see through my mind and show her how much she means to me. But again for that, I need to form a strong bond with her first. Then only I can do that. 'There's one more way.' I heard my wolf saying as I stop walking and realised I'd already exited the elevator and now I'm standing in front of my house's door. "What?" I asked while unlocking the door with the pin. 'A kiss.' My eyes widen as I stopped functioning for a second. 'Imagine how surreal it'll feel when her lips will be against ours. She will be in our arms and her touch will make us feel all the things we have always wished to feel from our mate.' My breath hitched as I got the scenery of her gorgeous features and her luscious lips.
The door opened with a beeping sound making me flinch. I realise what I was thinking and shook my head vigorously. "Shut up, you jerk," I said shutting him off and walking inside the penthouse. I took a deep breath and removed my shoes and coat. I walk further while loosening my tie. But I failed to divert my mind from what my wolf just said. A kiss. No doubt, It's the best way to find out if she's my mate. But...
"Took you too long to come." I flinch hard as my head snapped towards the source of the voice. "Mom?" I said and walk towards the light board before flipping it on as my mom's silhouette came into the display. She was sitting on the couch while staring at the black screen of the tv. Her head moved to look into my eyes. I couldn't understand what she was thinking. Thankfully, I have shut off my thoughts so no one could hear me or I could've got into a real problem. "Mom. When did you come here?" I asked walking towards her and taking a seat beside her. She diverted her gaze back to the tv making me frown. "You're distracted." She bluntly said causing my frown to deepen. "What?" I asked not understanding what she was trying to say. "You didn't even sense that someone is inside your house. What were you thinking about so deeply that made you so distracted." Now her sharp look fell on me which made me shift in my place. But I made sure that my expressions don't make her suspicious. "There's nothing like that Mom. I was just a little exhausted. That's why I didn't pay attention." I said while carelessly moving my hand in the air as she eyed my actions with a straight face. Just when I felt that she suspected me, she stood up causing me to do the same. "If you say so. But I'm here to remind you about your 1 month. 3 days have already passed. Now you only have 27 days. Keep the count." She said while walking towards the door as I stood on my place stiffly. "Yeah. I remember." I whisper back and heard the door opening and closing sound indicating that she left. She didn't even ask me if I'm fine or not. "Don't worry, Mom. You'll see her soon."
My mom was not always like this. When my father was alive she was the sweetest person. She always cares for me and showers me with love and affection. But since my father's death, she has changed a lot. She stopped showing her soft side and turned cold. After my father, she was the one to take care of the pack. Even though she wasn't an alpha, being the Luna of the pack also makes a lot of difference. She handled everything so perfectly that all the pack members trust her blindly. They know that she'll do her best to protect them. And that's what I love about her the most. Even though I lost my caring and affectionate mother, my pack got a strong and fearless Luna. And I'm proud of her.
TIME SKIP -
After taking a long, warm shower, I came out of the bathroom with a towel loosely hanging around my waist. Another towel was in my hand and I dried my hair with it. I was aimlessly pacing in my bedroom thinking about everything. What am I gonna do? How am I gonna make her mine? I know that she's my soulmate, but how am I supposed to tell her that? I don't think she'll even believe me. I threw the towel on the bed while gripping my hair as my other hand rested on my waist. "Argh!! What am I supposed to do?" I scratched my head while thinking of something that could give me a chance to meet her again. I walk towards the big glass window in my bedroom and looked down at the city lights glowing in the night. The moon was shining brightly in the sky while the city lightened up with the lights. Very beautiful scenery I always wanted to share with my love. I sigh gazing at the moon. "I just hope this wait gets over soon."
I don't know how long I was staring at the moon. My phone, placed on the nightstand, buzzed taking me out of my trance. I looked at the glowing screen before lazily walking towards it. I picked it up and plopped myself on the bed. I was too tired to take any calls at the moment, but when I saw a text from Ryan, I opened the messages.
'Good night, Alpha.'
I smiled looking at his text and replied to him with a 'good night'. I was about to place my phone back on the table when I thought of going through Livie's documents once again. In case I missed something.
I looked at the document and started to read it again. As I was going through it, my eyes got stuck on a name. "Andy." Isn't he the same person who was with her that day? I remember him with Livie in the forest that day. He's her childhood friend. They've been together for the past 20 years. I didn't know why but I feel something weird. Am I jealous already? I shook my head trying to read further, but my mind kept going back to him. What if they are closer than I'm thinking? What if they like each other? What if she's already in love with him?
'No. I won't let that happen. She is our mate. She is mine. No one can snatch her from us." My wolf growled making me feel his fury. I shut off my phone before placing it on the table and completely lay on the bed. I shut my eyes close trying to calm my growling wolf. 'Calm down buddy. If she's our mate, then no one can keep her away from us. If the moon goddess destined us together, then no one can keep us apart.' While calming him, I was consoling myself too. Cause somewhere I was also worried and scared. But my trust in the moon goddess didn't let my fear take over me.
"We will indeed get our mate."
