LIVIE'S POV. -
Pitch-black darkness surrounded my figure as I lay on the hospital bed with my eyes wide open. Still, I couldn't see a single thing. There was nothing to see or that's what I thought. It was past midnight. My eyes were roaming around the room and slowly they got used to the darkness. I started to see the fading statuette. My eyes roamed until they reached the corner of the room, there was a couch, I assume. I squint my eyes to see more clearly when I saw a moving figurine sitting on it. At first, I thought it was Dad. But when the person moved and his eyes looked at me, my breath hitched. The eyes of that person were dark red. My wide eyes were about to pop out of their socket. It was the same glimpse I get in my dreams now and then. He was the same person.
Am I dreaming again? Is it real or I'm just hallucinating? If it's real, then does this man is also real? Or AM I DEAD?
My mind was screaming a lot of things and to add more to it, my heartbeat increased to it's extinct. My lips parted but suddenly there was no voice in my throat. My hands were clutching the sheets tightly and I could feel the tip of the syringe that was pierced inside my hand. My forehead was covered in a thick layer of sweat. And it was all not because of fear but because of the desperation to see the face of that unknown person I'm always seeing in my dreams. I want to know who he is, and why he always comes into my dreams. I struggle to take steady breaths, and my eyes felt heavy. I kept staring at those eyes piercing through my soul and soon my eyelids closed with a heavy headache. I felt a feather-like touch over my forehead before everything become unconscious for me.
My breathing became stable and my head feel light. There was no suffocation now. I slowly opened my eyes again, but this time there was no darkness. Instead, the room was filled with sunlight and the morning breeze entering from the open window. I was laying there on the same bed. My head immediately snapped towards the corner of the room. There was a couch, but it was empty. No one was present in the room.
"Was that another dream?" I mumble with a groggy voice and cough. I tried to sit up while holding my head. The headache suddenly came back as a groan left my mouth and my eyes shut close with the unbearable feeling. Sitting straight I took a deep breath and opened my eyes.
"Livie?" I heard Tina's voice calling out for me as I looked toward the door and saw her peeking through the gap. Her lips curved upwards when she saw me looking at her. She entered fully inside the room and closed the door behind her. With an esthetic smile on her face, she walks closer to me as I just gazed at her confusingly. "Thank god you're fine." She throws her hands around my should before hugging me tightly.
"We were so worried." She said after parting away and her lips formed a half pout. Something she does when she's genuinely concerned. I, in return, smile a little to let her know I was fine. "Do you need something?" She asked now getting to some distance and sitting on one of the chairs. I nodded my head and pointed towards the glass of water. She gave it to me and I chugged down half of it in one gulp. "Slowly." Tina rubbed my back while I drank the remaining water. My throat feels better after having a sufficient amount of water.
"Where's dad?" Was the first thing I asked after gaining back my voice. Tine looked at me briefly before going towards the side table and stuffing some belongings scattered on it inside the bag she was carrying all this while.
"He's at the reception, completing some formalities so that we can take you home." She completed with a smile and hearing that made me smile too. I don't know why but this place surely feels suffocating to me. Especially after that dream. But was that a dream?
"Are we ready to go?" Dad came into the room while holding some files and gave me his infamous smile. I nodded back with a light smile. "How are you feeling now? Is it still hurting?" Dad caressed my hair and patted my back making me feel safe. I just shook my head negatively.
"I'm fine Dad. It's not hurting now." I said in a fragile voice which was true because at the moment I didn't feel any pain like I felt previously. No headache, no cramps, just a little weakness. Surprisingly, I didn't even feel like I'm hurt.
"Good. Let's go then?" He forwarded his hand and I held it firmly getting down from the bed. Tine held my other arm to support me in walking. As we reach the door, I halted in my steps and turn around to look at the empty couch. "What happened?" Dad asked concerned while following my gaze.
Staring at the empty place I stood there for a few seconds before shrugging off my thoughts. "Nothing." I said and look ahead before exiting the room.
AT LIVIE'S HOUSE -
We got to our place and Dad helped me to walk inside while Tina carried all the stuff. The door opened revealing a worried plus excited Andy. He had a big smile on his face but it drown when he looked at me up and down. Staring at us for a few seconds, he moves aside giving us space to enter.
"What took you guys so long? I was waiting for a while now." He said, helping me to sit on the couch and placing a pillow behind my back. "I hope everything is fine." He looked towards Dad who just nodded his head and stroll to the kitchen. "I'll bring you water." Andy also followed Dad's steps and disappear into the kitchen.
Tina went to my room with the bag and came back after placing it there. "I'll take my leave then." She patted my head causing me to smile. She turned around about to leave but Andy stopped her.
"Wait. Have something first. I've made breakfast." He handed me one glass of water and held the other one for her to take. She took the glass but shook her head in refusal.
"No. It's fine. I'll just go home." She took a sip from the glass and placed it on the table. "Please, Tina!!" I said making her sigh and nod in defeat. "Fine."
"Uncle is bringing the food." Andy said looking at me and sitting in front of me on the couch. Looking at his gaze on me, I was sure either he was going to say something emotional or something really stupid.
"I thought I would never see you again." he said with a straight face causing me to blink my eyes suspiciously. Was he concerned or was that sarcastic? I was thinking of a reply when he spoke again. "Nevermind. How was the experience though? Did you see heaven?" He leans forward showing his curiosity. My mouth gaped as I stared at him in disbelief. Tina looked at him weirdly before chuckling loudly.
"Tell me you're not joking." He scrunched his face at my reply before moving it side to side. "I'm actually curious." I took in a deep breath before forcing a tight smile on my lips after hearing him.
"Why don't you find it out yourself by jumping in front of a truck?" I returned the sarcasm making Tina chuckle. "Oh, wait. But it'll still not work because I highly doubt that you'll go to heaven." I continued and saw how his eyes widen. My lips curved in a satisfactory smirk, while Tina tried her best to keep her laughter inside. Andy scoffs whole pushing back his hair.
"Very funny." He pretended to laugh while looking in other directions and I felt proud to shut him off. "But on a serious note, how does this really happen?" He again glanced at me and this time he looked pretty serious. I sigh not knowing where to start.
"It...just happened." And to be speaking honestly, I really don't remember much.
The only thing I remember is the truck moving towards me rapidly. But before it could touch me, something or someone pulled me aside. I was in a warm embrace and tight grip. I fell on someone which made my grip lose and I lost my balance. My head hit something hard and after that, I saw...
"Lucian." His name slipped from my tongue when I realized that it was him who saved me. If I remember neatly, he was injured too. Tina and Andy looked at me but I just looked at Tina. "Where's Lucian? He saved me. But he was hurt too, right? Oh god, how can I forget him?" I held my hair while whining. How can I be so selfish that I totally forget about the person who saved me. I was so engrossed in that dream that I didn't even remember anything.
I looked at Tina for an answer as she dart her eyes between me and a confused Andy. "Who's Lucian?" Andy asked while looking between me and Tina.
"I also want to know. Who's Lucian?" Setting the plate on the table, Dad sat beside me and looked at me with questionable eyes. I looked at everyone in the room one by one before looking at my lap.
Why am I so nervous to talk about him? He's just my friend. There's nothing to be nervous or scared about. I reassured myself before looking at Dad.
"He's a friend. I meet him when I went to the company for a model's photoshoot." I saw Dad's expression changing with a jiffy. He looked at Andy and he had the same expression.
"We're you late that day because of him?" Dad asked with a little irate voice causing me to gulp. "Not specifically. I just got late due to the schedule. In fact, he was the one to drop me home." I tried to explain but Dad's expressions were the same. I bite my lips nervously while looking at Andy who was looking at the floor blankly.
"Even yesterday, he was the one who saved me." I fiddle with my fingers with a heavy heart. I heard Dad heaving out a sigh as he glanced at me.
"Was he ok?" Dad questioned and I looked at him, but he was looking towards Tina who peeked at me before answering. "Yes. I mean he was injured, but it was just a few scratches. He rushed Livie to the hospital, and when the doctor told us that she was fine, he said that he need to leave for some important work and left." I sigh in relief as Dad nods his head.
"Good. Now that everything is fine, let's have some breakfast." He picked up a plate and handed it to me. I couldn't make it out if he was angry or just worried, but his face showed some distress. He got up after giving me the food causing me to stare at him.
"Dad...?" I called out making him look at me. "I'll be back." He said and went away leaving me in a daze. His actions sometimes worry me.
"Livie. Lucian has told you to call him once you're feeling good." Tina said catching my attention to which I just nodded. Obviously, I should at least thank him for saving my life.
