Chapter 22 - 22 | Found

LUCIAN'S POV. -

Throughout the whole time, my eyes were stuck on Livie. Her actions indicated that she was uncomfortable. I don't know when I became so expert at it, but now I can read her mind through her actions easily. She was fiddling with her fingers while looking around nervously.

At one point I felt like running towards her and embracing her to hide her from all her fears and just let her know that I'm there for her, no matter what.

My eyes kept following her movements until she stood up and walked out of the hall. I sigh, not knowing how to keep my heart and wolf calm which were flooding with excitement after seeing our mate.

I glanced at Ruby and saw her munching on her food. I was so engrossed admiring Livie that I didn't realise when the waiter came and served the food. Ruby was quiet. Awfully quiet. Whenever she's alone with me, she can't shut up about how she's so excited about being with me. So her being this quiet was very unusual.

"Lucian." And there she goes. I sighed but didn't look up. She took a long pause before speaking again. "I know you're upset with everything. Upset with me." This made me look at her and she was playing with her food with the fork. "I just don't know how to tell you this, but... I really like you. And I'm ready to accept you as my mate." I stopped. My grip on the spoon tightens. My jaw clenched making my teeth greet. I had to close my eyes to stop myself from bursting. What does she even think of herself?

Ruby was also a werewolf. A beta. She was from a different clan. But due to her and my father's old friendship, our clans were close too. She was a daily visitor to our mansion when I grew up. She was always around me. At first, it wasn't an issue. But when I started to search for my mate and failed, she used to console me. Every time she told me that she was there for me. I thought of her as a good friend of mine and she was. Until...

"It's OK Lucian. It's not your fault that you can't find your mate. Maybe she's not in this world anymore. But don't be disappointed. Because I'm here for you."

I thought those words were from a friend, but soon I realised the real meaning of those words. When she pursued my mother to make her my mate. She wanted to be in my life. As my mate.

She was one of those who was born without any mate. When a werewolf is born, he or she has a mark on their body which indicates that their mate is also born. Sometimes they get their mark a little later, just like me. I got my mark when I was 5. That means my mate was born when I was 5. But for her, it never happens. And as time passed I started to see her true self. She always desired to be my mate. Or more like she wanted me to be her mate.

I looked up to see her still looking down cause she was very well aware that I don't like to talk about this. I've already told her a thousand times that she can't be my mate because I have one. But her stubbornness never goes away.

"And I've already told you, that you can't be my mate." I spoke with a serious and authorised voice. She raised her lashes to look at me with her glistening eyes. The emotions on her face will make anyone melt, but not me. Cause I've seen her real face.

"And you better not make me repeat it again." I said while stabbing the fork in the food on my plate causing her to flinch. She looked down and gulped her food silently while my anger went high as I looked around.

Strangely, Livie still hadn't returned which made me frown. Is she fine? My first thought was to run and find her but that wasn't needed when I saw her walking in the hall. My heart calmed but seeing her face made me worried. She looked pale.

Is she sick? I couldn't help but keep glancing at her worriedly. 10 minutes more and I saw them getting up. I, in an instant also stood up causing Ruby to stare at me. "We're leaving," I informed and walked towards the counter to pay. I saw the man who was with Livie there. I held myself from gripping his collar and threatened him for staying away from Livie.

After paying when I came out, I saw Livie and Ruby standing there while talking. "Why does she have to bother her now." I mumble moving towards them.

"Miss Livie?" When Livie noticed me, her expression changed in a jiffy. I wasn't sure if she was shocked or surprised. Or both? I smiled at her making her do the same. But her smile didn't last long.

As I reached closer, I noticed the third person. "What a surprise." I said while eying The male standing beside Livie. He looked at me while Livie mumbled some words.

When the boy nudged her, Livie introduced us. "Best friend." That gave me a little relief but still, I was bothered with their approximations. After Andy left to bring the car, I tried to talk with Livie but Ruby insisted we should leave too. I had enough of her so I told her to leave.

Finally, me and Livie were alone. I felt the urge to make sure she was alright because her face looked pale. I stepped closer and felt her stiffening. "Are you sure you're okay?" My fingers traced her cheekbone as she stared at my face. Every time I looked at her she broke eye contact. It makes me chuckle.

She was looking down when I told her about my disappointment that she didn't call me. Only for her to tell me that she doesn't have my number. How dumb I can be. I right away gave her my phone and asked her to give me her number. After she dialled it on my phone, I saved it as 'Moon'.

I could feel her stare at me but when I looked at her she looked away. "Livie." I called out and she looked at me, but her balance loosed making me hold her waist and pull her closer. Her head rested on my chest and she hugged me back. I could feel the blood rushing through my veins feeling her so close to me. It was a blissful moment. I caressed her heir. "Are you okay?"

She just mumbled a yes against my chest and kept hugging me. I also loved the way she was in my arms.

Our little moment was disturbed by the honk of the car. And Livie abruptly stepped away. I could feel the awkwardness building between us. "I'm, thanks." She said and turned around but I held her wrist stopping her from leaving.

"Livie, please take care of yourself and don't leave the house until you're fully recovered." I said as she just nodded making me let go of her wrist even though I didn't want to. She spirited towards the car and left with Andy while I stood there.

After she left, I brought out my phone and called Ryan. "Yes, alpha?" He asked after answering the call.

I think I know where Damian is." I said gaining a long silence from Ryan.

"How?" Ryan asked with a hesitation in his voice. I just clenched my fist with the anger rising inside me.

"He met Livie."
