Why is everyone behind me like this? Does no one have anything better to talk about other than my mate?
The Alpha murmured while walking through the puddles of leaves scattered on the ground as the bright moonlight peeked through the thick woods over his head. All the while, his only thought was his mate. Obviously it wasn't a big deal to not find your mate until it's about the Alpha of the pack who's turning 29 soon. That's what exactly he has been told a few hours ago.
FLASHBACK TO FEW HOURS AGO-
"And what's your decision?" The lady in her 40s folded her arms while staring at her son who has been silent all this while. And even now, he's silent. A long sigh leaving her lips as she twitched her eyes between the people present in the room as few of them had the look of pity while few were frustrated by the repeated scenery. She brought back her eyes over Lucian as he didn't seem to say anything.
"Fine. Now I'm giving you the ultimatum. You have 1 month to find your mate. Find her, bring her here, marry her and take the responsibility of the pack along with your Luna. Or..." Finally his eyes raised up to look at his mother who spoke without blinking her eyes as everyone was focus on her to see what decision she'll take, including Lucian. "Or after 1 month, you've to marry the girl I'll choose for you and take the responsibility as an Alpha." She completed her sentence as few gasps and murmures spread across the room. Lucian's expressions didn't changed, but his heart raced up as he stared at his mother. His mother expected him to say something, but he was still silent. He just quietly got up from his seat and left the room without uttering a single word as everyone exchanged looks. "Hope you'll take a wise decision."
PRESENT-
With all those thoughts messing with his head, Lucian walked aimlessly in the dark. He never wished to marry someone who's not his mate nor he thought that maybe he need to do that. He reached up to the little pond in the forest as the reflection of moon was clearly visible in the still water. He stared at it for few seconds before looking up to stare at the moon directly.
"Why moon goddess? Why I have to wait so much for my mate? Or is it true that....you didn't gave me one?" His voice was low and heavy just like his heart, his eyes were moist as he stared at the moon without blinking. Lost in his thoughts, Lucian stood there without any movements, but his ears perked up hearing a scream from the woods. His head snapped towards the direction of the voice as his eyes aimlessly wondered in the dark trying to reach the source of voice. His legs started to move faster as he ran in the woods, looking for the source of the voice. But as he ran deeper in woods, a different, sweet smell made his eyes sparkle. Something very different and attractive. His inner wolf jumping with excitement made him confuse. He tried to hold but it was too late.
He shape shifted into his wolf as his heart beat raised and breathings got heavier. He smelled a recognisable scent which belongs to one of his pack member and howl to communicate with him. Running more and more in the dark forest, he could sense the sweet smell getting stronger. He ran until he reach where he could smell both the scents strongly. Leaving behind the bushes, he came across the view of another wolf in his pack who was omega and a girl sitting on the ground or more like laying on the ground.
His eyes got stuck on the figure of the girl when her eyes stared back at him. His heart was beating in an unusual rate which he couldn't understand why. The growling of the other wolf made his eyes to divert towards him as he growl back. 'Leave her alone.' He talked in his mind making the omega went silent. The alpha made a circle around the wolf as he submissively bowed and left from there. Lucian brought his eyes back towards the girl who was now crawling away. He chuckle internally, taking slow steps towards her, he placed his paw on her camera as she gasped and sat back. When she looked at him with her big bamby blue eyes, his hear skipped several beats and his eyes got stuck on her.
The peeking moonlight fell on her face enhancing her features in the dark as her innocent face looked at him with everything but fear. He looked at her from head to toe and noticed the blood on her ankle making his heart churn unknowingly. She shut her eyes tightly when he took a step forward and lean down to lick her wound. He noticed the scent was more strong and sweet around her as now he was so close with her. He tested her blood which tested metallic sweet and he could feel something inside him burning. He stop and look up at her to found her staring at him. Those eyes, when they stared at him with so much innocence, he couldn't help but get drown in them. He went more ahead until they were face to face, deeply staring at each other without blinking.
"What are you?" Her voice reached his ears through all the quivering of night insects around them and yet he felt like her voice was the only sound he could hear. That voice, her scent and the pain after seeing her wound was enough to make him confirm that she's nothing but his...
"MATE!!! SHE'S OUR MATE!!"
Lucian heard his inner wolf screaming inside his mind as he tried to shut him off but he was too excited to be controlled. Obviously he have been waiting for this moment for past 11 years along with Lucian. Since he turned 18, every day he wished that maybe today he'll find her. He have waited enough and Lucian knows that he's excited, but he can't let him take the full control or this idiot will ruin everything.
As they both stared at each other or more like he admired her to the fullest, a shriek call came from the woods, breaking the silent atmosphere around them. Lucian's ears perked up as he turned his head towards the source of fading voice.
"LIVIE!!!!"
The voice again came and this time it was clear and loud. "Andy...?" Livie looked around to spot Andy and Lucian look back at her when he heard her calling someone's name making her stiff. He understood that someone in here and looking for her, which means he needs to leave. Even though he didn't wanted to, but he had to leave. Going towards Livie, he sniff her neck making her feel the goosebumps as she took a shaky breath while her hands clutching the grass beneath her. At first she thought he's going to bite her, but instead when he just sniff her, she felt her skin crawling. After a second or so, she opened her eyes to see Andy standing at a distance looking at her with wide eyes. She looked her and there but there was no one except the two of them.
"What the hell were you thinking while walking out at this hour?" Andy burst while hastily walking towards her and crouching in front of her to see any possible injuries. When he found one, his eyes turned dark and that was enough for Livie to know that maybe she's in trouble.
Watching her leave with the blond male, Lucian heave a sigh. She was limping due to her injury and he could hear her even though he was at distance because of his hearing abilities. His eyes which were soft until now turn dark and red thinking of how she have got injured. He turned his steps back towards his mansion after Livie was out of his sight and he was sure that she's safe. He roared while entering the wall of the mansion, which was build to secure the members in his pack from outside enemies. His roar made everyone shiver and step away from his way as he ran with the speed of light. Ryan, the beta of the pack and right hand of Lucian watch him as he entered the mansion in his wolf form which was very unusual and rare.
Descending down the stairs, Ryan saw the maids shivering and standing in the corner while Lucian entered his room without looking at anyone. Ryan waited there for 15 minutes and then knock on the door of the alpha's room. The rumbling could be heard from the other side, as the door swung open wide and an angry Lucian walk out making Ryan stumble back. "I want all the members present in the meeting room in next 10 minutes who went out of the mansion tonight." He ordered while walking towards the meeting room while Ryan tried matching his pace and nodding at his words. "Yes alpha. But why-" His words got cut in middle when alpha shut the door of meeting room on his face. Ryan sighed while leaving to complete his task.
"Ouch!!" Livie whimpered when Andy tried to apply ointment on her wound after so much efforts of cleaning it as she kept hissing and winning. "Stop being a kid." He warned her in deep voice as Livie went silent at his unusual tone. He didn't speak much since coming back from the forest and that silent was very different from any other times. "I'm fine, Andy." She tried to ease the atmosphere but that didn't seem to work. Securing her wound with a bandage, Andy stood up with the first aid box in his hands. Livie opened her mouth to say something but he was fast enough to walk away. Livie exhale a long breath and turned towards the table beside her bed. Her phone was laying on the table which she didn't took with her and picked it up to see 16 missed calls of Andy. She bite her tongue thinking about how worried he must've been. She look up and saw him going from here to there in room.
"I'm sorry, Andy." She whispered gathering her all coverage making him halt in his pacing as he looked at her with emotionless eyes. "You're sorry?" That was the first thing came out of his mouth since they've came here. Livie looked at her injured feet while fiddling with her fingers as Andy walk closer towards her petite figure sitting on the bed. "You're f*cking sorry?!!" He yelled in deep voice trying not to shout considering the fact that it was almost 2 in the morning, making her lips turned into pout. "You know your sorry is useless if you said it after attempting a crime?" You looked at him with your bamby eyes and he instantly turned his head to the other side, not to melt at your puppy face.
"I should've never agreed to come here with you." Running his hand through his blond heirs he breathed out and turned to look at you. "That's enough of stunts. We're leaving in the morning. And that's final." He pointed his finger towards her as her eyes widen at his statement. 'No no no. I can't leave now. Not when I've found him.' Livie thought while shaking her head vigorously. "No Andy listen. We can't -" "We can and we will." He gave a stern look to Livie as her words got stuck inside her mouth. She tried to speak again but Andy had already stormed out of the room leaving her all alone with her thoughts.
"Now what I'm gonna do?"
