After a flash of light Liam found himself standing in the middle of a small village. It seems rather qaint with only 10 or so buildings to be seen. Liam noticed that they were all built out of wood, rather study wood, and they were only a single storey high except the build that looked to be the centre of the village. This building had an extra storey.
"That must the village chiefs house." Liam muttered to himself as he watch other flashes of light come into view revealing other players, all of which were wearing off white linen clothing cover top and bottom. Liam check himself a saw the same clothes on himself.
'The standard starting equipment, I guess' Liam mused as he went to see the stats of the gear he currently has.
[Linen shirt - light armour
DEF: 1
The standard starting armour. Nothing remarkable]
[Linen trousers - light armour
DEF: 1
The basic starting trousers. Provides little protection]
He also noted that he had 10 bronze coins in his inventory. This was the basic currency for Fairune!, and there were 2 other coins above, that being silver and gold. 100 bronze would equal a single silver coin whereas 100 silver was a gold coin. There are rumours of a coin above that but it's never been verified.
As Liam was looking at his starting items some other players were starting to make their way over to the largest building in the village, no doubt hoping to grab a quest or two and starting the levelling process. Liam however decided to explore the village first as he was currently weaponless and had no class. The first building he came to was the blacksmith, it was small but had all the necessities needed to make weapons and armour. Liam could feel the heat of the forge even from outside so he could only imagine how hot it was inside. Inwardly is also marvelled at how well the game emulates heat and the feel of the wind and this was at only 80% immersion rate.
Liam decided to take a look inside and see what was on offer. As soon as he stepped through the door he felt a wave of heat hit his face, this was coming from the large forge on the opposite side, the forge seemed to take up most of the wall with an anvil in front where a stockily built middle aged man was hammering away at a piece of metal. The man noticed Liam but kept hammering until the metal started taking shape, he stopped once the metal cooled too much and started placing the metal over the fire to heat it up again and then continued hammering after. Over time the metal started taking the shape of a sword, the sword was about 1.5 metres in length and two fingers wide.
Liam watched the process for awhile longer before he started looking around the blacksmith, there were several different weapons on display from swords to rapiers, spears and partisans even daggers and knives were on show giving the impression that the blacksmith was proud of his work.
"What is it you need?" A deep voice startled Liam to look towards the back of the shop where the blacksmith had finished his work and was looking at Liam with a questioning look.
"Nothing currently I'm just going around the village to check the facilities available" Liam was as polite as possible because interaction with NPC's can be fickle. If you don't know their personality or say the wrong thing in there eyes your affinity with them can drop. This in turn affects quest acquisition, perhaps store clerks will increase item prices and if you really annoy someone that might just attack you out right.
"Okay then might I suggest going to the class hall first and picking a class. It is the building next door to mine" The blacksmith kindly point Liam in the right direction.
"Thanks, I'll do that. I almost forgot about my class" With that said Liam left the blacksmith and walk a couple hundred metres to the left where he saw another building made of wood with a sign of a sword and wand in a cross shape, this was the class hall.
Liam made his way into the front door and quickly noticed several people standing around in small lines in front of several middle aged men and women. These were the class tutors. Liam glanced through the tutors and noted that there was only four.
The four represented the melee class, mage class, long range class and the healer class. Of course these have many branches and can go in different directions depending on the player, there was even talks of rare and legendary classes out in the world but for now everyone is stuck with the basics.
