"Shit" Liam shouted as he looked at the crude arrow embedded in his shoulder before taking a step back.
He looked over towards the cave entrance which he assumed the attack came from to see if he could spot what attacked him, unfortunately what greeted him was another arrow flying towards him.
Thankfully he had seen the arrow so he dived to his right side to avoid taking another big hit as the last arrow took a quarter of his life bar.
Liam crawled back towards the forest to keep himself from being too easily targeted and once he arrived he hid behind one of the trees. He poked his head out to see what was in the cave but it was too dark.
Liam stayed behind the tree and waited to see if whatever attacked him will leave the cave to find him.
It would seem luck was on his side this time, as after 5 minutes of waiting he captured movement coming from the cave entrance.
What appeared in his view was a small green humunoid creature. Its features were extremely ugly. It had a long nose with a pair of black, bloodshot eyes above it. Its ears were slightly elongated and pointed at the tip to round out its features. The creature had a bow in its right hand and the small bony fingers of the left wad grasping a thin, long stick that was sharpened at the tip to form a makeshift arrow.
"Crap that's a goblin. That must be a goblin lair." There was no way that the creature he saw coming out the entrance was the only one in there. This was because goblins were weak creatures so they usually herd together.
This was worrying for Liam as the cave in front should be where the iron ore veins are for a quest he has.
Meanwhile the goblin left the safety of the cave and started slowly patrolling around the area looking for the prey it had just shot. While it's eye sight was rather good to be able to hit Liam from the distance it did, it would seem it was no so bright to think that he was hiding in the forest.
This gave Liam an idea. Maybe he can take this goblin out first and scout out the cave after to see what he would be up against.
With this thought looping around his head, Liam watched as the goblin got nearer to the forest while still patrol the clearing in front of the cave entrance.
'I'll attack it once it gets closer to the trees.' As he thought this he pull his sword out and waited. 'I also don't see any other weapon so I'll have to stick close to it so I can minimise the damage'
It took the goblin a slow 10 minutes before it got to the forest, a remarkable feat considering it was only about 200 metres to cave entrance from the forest. Even being cautious has its limits surely.
With the goblin in range Liam took a quick look at its health bar and grimaced slightly.

"This might take too long" Liam muttered as he realised that his damage while enough to kill it might not be fast enough before it calls for reinforcements. "Screw it. I'll try"
Liam readied himself and as soon as the goblin was a single step from entering the forest Liam came out from behind the tree and used charge at the unsuspecting monster.

Liam was surprised he did as much damage as he did. It was only then that he realised the goblin didn't have any kind of armour equipped except for a greyish yellow rag of cloth covering it's privates.
"Maybe I can beat this" However it seems that ever since he equipped the rabbits foot that his luck has been pretty shoddy. This was because at this moment he heard the goblin screech at the top of its lungs like a banshee and ran back towards the cave.
"Oh shit that's not good" Before the words had even left his mouth Liam had turned around and high tailed it back into the forest. He remembered that goblins are in packs and would scream for help once they have been attacked.
Liam took a glance back and saw more goblins coming out of the cave entrance and almost wet his trousers in fear. He could see at least 8 more goblins making their way out equipped with an assortment of makeshift weapons.
It was then that he saw a goblin much larger than the rest come out the entrance. It was at least double in size with a machete hanging from it's back. It bellowed angrily and turned towards the goblin archer from before.
By this point Liam was making his getaway even faster. He had no desire to fight the goblins anymore especially after that big brute had shown itself.
Liam continued running for 10 minutes before he stopped and took a glance at his surroundings. When he looked in front of him he gasped at the sight before his eyes.
