Liam had to do a double take when he saw the new quest. He didn't think he would receive a world quest, especially not in the newbie area.
After calming himself he looked at the quest details again.
[Revival of the Fey - Unique World Quest
The Fey being Anri has tasked you with bring the Fey Tree seed back to her homeland on the Holy Continent and plant it there. However while the seed has absorbed the remaining life force of the last Fey Tree it is not enough for the seed to grow quickly. It would be wise to increase the amount of life force the seed has before planting it. Best nourishment will come from other plants or trees. Planting it before it has enough life force will effect rewards and growth of the new tree.
Planted Seed: Not finished
Seed Life force growth: 2000/100000]
"This quest is gonna take me a fair while to finish" Liam was surprised at the requirements for the quest. First off he didn't know where the Holy Continent was and next he was unsure how the life force would be gathered. "Perhaps I can get some from plant monsters. I mean the game must have those right?"
What Liam didn't know was this quest would affect the game world in a big way no matter how much or little he did with the seed.
Because it was a world quest it would bring changes that would be permanent. Some world quest had good things happen like this quest, but some could have a negative impact so a player would have to be careful how they proceeded.
But for now Liam had no way of completing the quest so decided to do something he can right now. Level up!
With that thought in mind Liam tried remembering the route he ran on and went in that direction. All the while using his forage skill to look for more Five Star Herbs for the item shop granny.
After half an hour Liam finally saw the cave he ran from, but he didn't go near it for now. Instead he looked around a bit before seeing a the small trail that led him there in the first place and followed it.
He was surprised he hadn't seen any monsters this whole time, but that didn't last long as he finally saw a baby wolf not too far in front.
Liam slowed his pace slightly and made his way forward to get in the range of his charge skill. Liam reach the 10 metre mark but decided to get slightly closer so he would hit the beast guaranteed.
He managed to get to 6 metre mark without alerting the wolf and then with a thought activated Charge.
-36
The knock back effect didn't proc this time but Liam took advantage of that and hit the wolf twice more before backing off and using the same strategy he did before.
Liam has to be careful as he forgot to heal the damage he took from the goblin arrow earlier. A rookie mistake on his part.
It only took 30 seconds to finish the wolf this time as Liam got used to the circling around the tree and the kill paid off.
[Baby Grey Wolf defeated - 45 Exp Received]
[Level up - You have gain 5 stat points]
Liam has finally got his next level but kept he joy to a minimum, he felt that he may be lagging behind others. There would always be those leveling maniacs out that that do nothing but fight monsters to level up. They would even neglect to do quest in their pursuit of more levels.
Liam liked the joy of exploration and questing in games but he still wanted his level to be up there with the high rankers, so he decided to find some more wolfs to kill.
He picked up the loot the wolf dropped a saw an extra item among them. It was glowing white so it was only a common item but it was a piece of equipment. At this stage even a trashy white piece will help him a bit.
[Fur Bracers Received]
Equipment in the game had many slots. You had you basic chest and leg armours, plus helmet, shoulder guards and even boots and gauntlets. This usually round out the basic gear that a player could equip. There were even rarer gear to be had to including belts and rings, these items would really only be dropped by boss monsters or equivalent.
Liam checked the details of the bracers and realised he couldn't equip it quite yet.
[Fur Bracers - Level needed: T0:4
Defense: 4
A pair of hand guards made from the fur of a small wolf. Provides little protection]
Since he couldn't use them yet he threw them into his inventory and carried on going.
'I need 227 Exp to level again. I can easily get that with 6 more baby wolves. Once I level once more I'll finish this herb quest and then see if I can find the bigger wolves to get that chiefs quest done' Liam planned his short term goals for now and started searching for his next target.
However not everything goes as one would hope.
