With the change in target, Eltrunk stopped it's attack on Unmovable Brute and turned to look at Delta Five. It didn't take it long to throw a punch towards Delta Five but unfortunately for it the attack was dodged.
Unmovable Btute recovered from the stun, but didn't take aggro back and settled into the secondary tank position. He kept his eyes on both the boss and Delta Five so he could be ready to take over.
Meanwhile the DPS were going all out to do as much damage to Eltrunk as possible. Liam was currently at the back of the boss, out the way of the more dangerous attacks but he was still being attacked by the whip like branches every now and then. The two Delta teammates were both on the two sides of the boss causing much more damage than Liam and seemed to be having an easier time.
It only took 5 minutes to push the boss below the 50% HP mark. There was no new attacks at this point but it's speed started increasing. Instead of throwing a punch every 4 seconds it was now half that. The rest of it's abilities were in use more frequently putting some strain on the tanks.
At one point Unmovable Brute dropped below half life himself after the stun and punch combination because Delta Five was in cool down. The healers worked their magic quickly and Unmovable Brute was back to max within seconds.
The tanks decided that they would need to take at least one of the punches head on now due to the speed increase, making the healers finally do something.
500 HP later and another move was introduced. Eltrunk started gathering energy towards the face on its trunk, the team noticed this and thought a big move was coming. They started attacking with more fervour to try and cancel the attack, unfortunately nothing worked.
It took two seconds for the energy to be fully gathered. Eltrunk then fired the energy in a straight line in front of it. It was a green beam of light, as it travelled the earth below was destroyed. Unmovable Brute was the main tank at the time and took the hit as Eltrunk looked like it was aiming the skill at him even if he moved. He took heavy damage but it was healed quickly by his teammates.
The fight simply continued in the same manner. The boss would attack more frequently as its life was dropping along with the frequency of its skills increasing.
"Make sure to stay out of its line of sight so that beam attack doesn't hit you." Delta One made sure to remind the two healers to spread out a little more. They would die in 1-2 hits if that attack caught them.
"Right boss"
"You don't have to tell me twice" The healers positioned themselves to the left and right respectively while keeping in range to heal.
Eltrunk's life was still dropping quickly and as it reached 750 left another change occurred. The boss started taking root in the ground making it immobile, however it became even more deadly in this position. It's life started slowly regenerating at 1% every 3 seconds. The roots it used for legs was now being sent from underground as spikes targeting everyone in range.
The team had to start moving about even more while the tanks took hits they couldn't dodge and dodged anything that wad possible.
Liam was starting to struggle at this point as he found dodging the spikes and whip attacks challenging. He hasn't been hit yet but who knows how long that may last. He was hoping this boss fight would be over soon. While he was enjoying himself he knew he was too weak to really be in the battle.
Liam vowed to himself to level up quickly after this boss so he wouldn't feel like a burden next time he comes across one.
While Liam was lost in his thoughts, Eltrunk started glowing red. This was a signed that it had gone berserk. It's attack power had almost doubled and it's speed increased again. The tanks were starting to have a hard time keeping up but the boss only had 200 life left. Delta One and his teammates started pushing for the kill, and 30 seconds later the was a huge roar before Eltrunk stopped moving. It's bark started cracking and falling away, the branches were dropping from it's body and disappeared in little lights while the rest of its body started fading away.
A few seconds later the area where the boss stood moments ago was empty save for the 6 items that were lying on the floor. It look like 4 pieces of equipment, a book and what look like a piece of wood. Most likely a material.
