'That doesn't make sense, sharp ki?, I don't think it can exist.' Dan thought as Grey's words played repeatedly in his mind, "How did you get it?" Dan asked in a tone barely above a whisper, "I am not going to tell you until you tell me your own story.", Grey replied with his face showing a childish expression of refusal, 'How is he the headmaster?' Dan couldn't help but ask himself, "Here is my story. My parents were attacked when I was a boy, my mom ensured my escape my muttering some words and I ended up in an orphanage, later I learnt they were missing." Dan told Grey, his face expecting a reply, "So much detail." Grey said with such strong sarcasm that made Night burst into a fit of laughter, "So your mom was a mage, huh?" Grey asked Dan who looked at him with a confused expression.
"Your mom was a mage." Grey repeated, "based off what you told me, your mother was a mage." Grey said once again, this time slowly as he hoped Dan would get an idea of what he was saying, "A wind mage, she must have turned you into air and sent you to the orphanage, truly amazing but it most have cost her much mana." Grey said, sighing the last part, "Mages have mana?, so what's the difference between mages and people with abilities?" Dan asked as he sat crossed legged on the grass, "You're meant to learn this in the third year but seeing as I was the one who brought mages up, I suppose the least I can do is tell you this." Grey said before taking a deep breath, "Here this goes. People with abilities are taught how to forcefully absorb mana to fuel the abilities they GET FROM DEMONS while mages are born with mana in them or more specifically, mana of one element. So no mage can ever have a telekinetic element cause it doesn't exist and can only use magic when they say specific spells." Grey explained to Dan who smiled as a response, "So what's your story?" Dan asked Grey, unforgetting of the reason mages came up in the first place, "Fine. My parents hated demons as per normal but instead of relying on abilities gotten from demons, they focused on ki, not the type you learned to use in class but a better, more powerful one. They trained me in ki since I could speak and its results were showing as I was the best in my class and that was my mistake." Grey said before his voice took an angry tone with a faint hint of sadness in it.
"I became too good and this made some people angry, so when it was time for the yearly holidays, my parents were attacked by some people with a wind, fire and water ability respectively, I was sad but didn't forget my parents wishes, I became even better and in the 3rd year's field day, they confronted me. I was punching a stone with ki when the sound of a strong wind resounded around me, I looked at the source and saw three rich students, one was summoning the air dome around me while the other two had fire and water floating above their hands. The very same ability used to kill my parents and then it dawned on me, they did it cause they were jealous, I rose the sword I always carried above my head before performing a horizontal slash, releasing a wave of ki that cut the three of them in half and as they fell to the ground, one tiny piece of my overall ki became sharp and next thing I knew, sharp ki."
"And it has been my curse ever since, can't turn it off, can't put on a shirt cause it will tear it, honestly depressing." Grey sighed once again before his face brightened up, "Now time for my gift." Grey said as he stood up, "What gift?" Dan asked Grey, "Simple, I am going to give you an ability."
