Chapter 4 : Mutation and Bloodline Awakening.
" A new day to keep on existing in this forsaken world." muttering these words as he stared in daze at the old ceiling of his compressed one room apartment that could barely fit in a bed and a small reading table, luckily with a well functioning half-bath. Eric thought back to all that had happened the previous back, feeling too weak to get up from his crumbed bed.
" So now where should I start from? Surely those bastards won't want to hire me any more after knowing that I didn't Awaken any Talent, since that was their reason for being lenient with me through the years."
" Hahaha, what a joke" , releasing a mocking laugh at the end after mouthing off a few curses unlike his usual self. He clenched his fist and he took a deep breath, before getting up.
"Unfortunately Life, suicide isn't an option. If this is all you can, then I guess I'll keep on living to the best I can." mouthing off in resolution, he walked towards the half-bathroom by his left towards the entrance of his apartment.
"Fork!"
Suddenly, a startling pain came from his chest, and a feeling like thousands of ants were crawling through every single part of his body pierced his mind.
The pain almost making him go mad as he gasped hoarsely, falling on his knees.
But as if that was not enough...
Burning!
A burning sensation washed over him, his flesh, skin, pores, were no exception...
Just like one would feel being burned alive to death, every single part of his body shuddered, as he was thrown into a jumbled state of incomprehensibility.
His mind lost in the haze of tickling itches that numbed his senses.
Pain!
The pain sank deep into his bones, reaching his spine, he arched his back and spread both hands, releasing an anguished scream.
His face crunched tightly into a tormented expression, turning paler each passing seconds.
The agony kept increasing!
Eric screamed.
Beads of sweat dropping off his forehead…
His entire body shook and his muscles twitched. His heart rate increased and his blood flowed faster.
The sound of his beating heart suddenly became loud.
THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!
His heartbeat was like a heavy drum played right next to his ear. Becoming louder, louder and louder until. . . He lost consciousness!
Fainted!
His quaking body came to a stop as he laid, sprawled on the ground.
Unseen, the crystal pendant around Eric's neck detached itself from the lace and floated in the air, shimmering with a golden glow that was strangely absorbed by his body, and triggered it. Eric's body suddenly jerked, and the rate at which it did accelerated.
Every muscle of his upper body and torso, clenched and released like they were living beings. His skin seemed like it was being burned and at the same time, the veins on his body started wringing, sticking up like worms through his skin.
A quite revolting sight .
CHICHI~~
His body then started shriveling with rapid pace.
This was the first time that his body changed this much, even when counting the times he starved for a week, he didn't get this thin like an aid patient.
Meanwhile, going on a micro level within his body, the quality of the genes in his cells began to slowly transform from degraded ones to almost perfect ones, filtering out the useless cells and contaminants directly through his pores as black stinking filths.
Under this shocking transformation that sank deep into his cells, Eric's tendons, skin, bones, muscles, and all his organs were undergoing a dynamic change.
The density of his bones continued to increase and the tenacity of his tendons were undergoing a dramatic transformation that marked the beginning of his part to becoming the strongest.
Roooaaarrr!
In an endless void scape, a Dragon's roar filled with unquestionable power and supremacy resounded, followed by echoes of countless lesser ones with each wave, much weaker than the first Dragon's. Towering in thousands, their mighty enormous body of unfathomable height, rustled. And bright glowing eyes of various colors that differed with elements, opened, illuminating the void.
From a third point of view , the way they were aligned gave off a sense of hierarchy.
"This?"
Just then Eric's eyes shut open as he woke up from his little dream. Unaware of the receding glow from the crystal as it floated downward, embedding itself between his chest.
"Hmm?"
"I... I fainted?" Observing his room with a lost look, Eric tried to sit up but was halted by the splitting ache in his head. His eyes shut close, as he tightly scrunched his face in pain… only for it to suddenly disappear.
'huh?'
Confused, he dumbfoundedly stared at his filth covered body after he sat up.
"What happened…" he tried to say, before a jutting memory flashed his mind.
Widening his eyes in shock and realization, not caring about his appearance, Eric hurriedly moved towards the mirror oblivious to the feel of firmness his hands had while supporting his rise.
"What…"
The words wanted to escape his mouth as he saw an enigmatic image with faint resemblance to him reflected in the mirror.
Clear bright skin without blemish and signs of malnutrition that would make beauties jealous. His hair had become jet black, that it glinted a bit of light. His eyes seemingly capable of staring inside his soul and clear of impurities.
Staring down to his abs, they were perfect. Even the black impurities covering his skin couldn't stop its chiseled shape from outlining. Same with his muscles.
Then suddenly, a half lit transparent screen popped up before him.
