In the outskirts of the Z city, there was a huge mansion belonging to the former Master Wen who died tragically, leaving only his wife and son.
Currently in this huge mansion, Madam Wen was rooted in shock. She was staring at the young woman whom she had lovingly watched grow up into a budding young woman worthy of her son.
Now as she watched her, Madam Wen was not so sure anymore whether her judgement had been correct.
"Madam Wen look, I have brought JunXi's child, that witch Yan Yan did not want him anymore and so she gave him to me to raise."
"Madam Wen isn't this great? I finally have JunXi's child and so he will have to marry me, and we will become a complete family."
Madam Wen felt her heart churning in turmoil.
"Bai Jiu, why don't you hand me the child for me to have look?" Madam Wen asked, her voice cautious as she walked toward her.
Bai Jiu beamed lovingly. Although her smile was bright, the eyes did not match the happiness. It was as if she was hiding a dagger beneath her smile.
She then carefully handed the small child to Madam Wen.
Madam Wen carefully grasped the child and adjusted him into her arms before quickly backing away from Bai Jiu.
"Where did you say you got this child? Where is JunXi's wife?" Madam Wen asked, trying not to let her voice rise an octave.
Madam Wen felt as if the world was coming apart. The look in Bai Jiu's eyes was not normal. It was a crazed look, as if she said one thing wrong and she will jump at her to get to the child.
"Madam Wen why do you insist on calling her his wife. Marrying abroad because she could not legally marry in the mainland does not count. Madam Wen that woman is truly a witch. She did not want her son, so she gave him to me." Bai Jiu spoke with a good innocent tone of voice, not finding anything wrong with what she said.
Madam Wen had a bad premonition. She quickly glanced at the child in her arms. Her heart ached as she saw the tiny baby calmly opening his eyes looking at his surrounding in curiosity.
This child was a new-born and seeing how small and fragile he was, he seemed to be only a day old.
Madam Wen did not feel so good inside.
A week ago, Wen JunXi had left for a business trip and trustingly left his wife to her care.
Madam Wen accepted however, something came up in her maiden family home and so she had to go on small trip to take a look. She left behind Wen JunXi's wife in the care of the house keepers.
Although Madam Wen initially did not agree on this marriage and did not like the wife Wen JunXi brought back. Eventually she began to warm up to her. Yan Yan was a sweet and quiet daughter-in-law who did not fuss and did everything to please her.
As her mother-in-law she could not remain cruel. Every time she had been mean to her it was if she were lifting a rock to throw it on one's foot. Yan Yan returned each mean sentence with kindness.
Madam Wen eventually learned to accept Yan Yan. At the end of the day, Wen JunXi had married her and seemed to love and dote on her. He appeared to become more human around Yan Yan.
Although Yan Yan had not come from a worthy family background, in the end that stopped mattering as soon as she bore Wen JunXi's child.
Madam Wen suddenly regretted it. She regretted the day she had brought Bai Jiu into her household to spite Yan Yan.
At the beginning she was very averse toward Yan Yan and everything she represented. Although Yan Yan had felt wronged, she did not voice out her grievances to JunXi. She had simply accepted Bai Jiu as a sister and Madam Wen knew she only did so to please her.
Madam Wen should have chased Bai Jiu out back then. However, that girl also had a sweet pleasing tongue and since she had been familiar with Bai Jiu and watched her grow up, she couldn't bear to part with her and chase her back to her family.
Madam Wen now realised her wrongs. She brought a viper into her home. And she had kept feeding that viper false hope. And so, when that viper did not get what she wanted, in the end she landed her strike and bite down what she shouldn't have.
"Bai Jiu, be honest with me. Where did Yan Yan go?"
