"Bai Jiu be honest with me, where did Yan Yan go?"
If this was the old her, Madam Wen would have rejoiced in the disappearance of Yan Yan. Back then she really hated Yan Yan enough to contemplate how she would make her disappear.
Now that the very thing she had hoped for in the beginning had occurred, Madam Wen felt uneasy. At this moment, her mind was narrowing down the places where she could find Yan Yan, beg for forgiveness, and bring her back home before Wen JunXi returned from his business trip.
Bai Jiu suddenly laughed, wringing Madam Wen away from her thoughts.
"Madam Wen why do still care where that bïtch is. She's gone for good, and she will never return. Let's not talk about her anymore, Madam Wen when is JunXi coming back, we should decide on a wedding date."
"Are you crazy!?" Madam Wen suddenly snapped. Her anxiety could not take it anymore. The premonition that something awful must have happened was too great.
Madam Wen's outburst startled the child in her arms and soon the wails of a new-born child was resonating throughout the whole mansion.
Madam Wen reacted quickly and began soothing the child, then when the child had stopped crying, she transferred him to the housekeeper imploring her to feed him.
Madam Wen then began dragging Bai Jiu to the living area, away from prying ears.
"Speak clearly! What do you mean she's gone for good? Where did she go?" Madam Wen's voice was agitated.
It was the way Bai Jiu kept going on and on about her marriage with Wen JunXi as if Yan Yan was no longer the wife of Wen JunXi, that irked Madam Wen with irritation.
Bai Jiu smiled, her eyes a crescent moon, bringing shivers all the way to her stomach. Madam Wen was startled as she finally realised something.
Something she had failed to see a long time ago. The expression on Bai Jiu was fake. Not only was it fake but it was mask and looked like she was attempting to appear innocent.
"Madam Wen, the b!tch is gone. Isn't this what you wanted?"
Madam Wen suddenly slapped Bai Jiu, startling them both.
"Bring her back now! Where did she go? Tell me specifically!"
"Madam Wen, you slapped Jiu'er?" the tears of disbelief pooled in Bai Jiu eyes.
"You wicked thing! If I didn't slap you, would you still have that mocking smile. Now speak! Where is Yan Yan?"
"Madam Wen, you slapped Jiu'er? How can you slap Jiu'er? I'm your precious daughter-in-law. You've watched me grow up with JunXi. You promised me a marriage with him!"
"When did I ever I promise you a thing! Clearly there's something wrong with your head and memory. I had said to you I hoped that you and JunXi had been married instead, there's a big difference. It is my fault for having said such a thing in the first place. Had I clearly seen before that this is how you would become, I should not have said anything at all!"
"Madam Wen how could you do this to me. You of all people? That bitxh is to blame! She's the one who always came in between me and JunXi. She had poisoned all of you against me! She's the one who doesn't belong!!" Bai Jiu was going ballistics.
Madam Wen did not want to be in her presence anymore, but she had to find out exactly where Yan Yan was and bring her back before Wen JunXi returned.
Madam Wen feared her son's reaction when he finds out that she did not take care of his wife as she had promised him. She feared the day he will come home and find the woman he loved gone.
"Madam Wen how could you?" Bai Jiu was still in disbelief.
"Do you want me to slap you again?! Clearly you know where Yan Yan had gone to. Now tell me!"
Bai Jiu suddenly laughed again. And it was her ever changing mood and expressions that made Madam Wen realise just how incorrect the wirings in her brain really were.
To find out that the girl you helped in raising turned out to be actually insane, MotherWen felt like she was eating a really bad lemon.
"You'll never find her! You will never make her return! I will marry JunXi! Only I, Bai Jiu will be the official Mrs Wen."
Madam Wen felt the blood draining from her body.
"Why do you mean never find her? What did you do?"
"I got rid of her." Bai Jiu smile viciously.
Madam Wen staggered in shock, before grabbing Bai Jiu's shoulder with a crazed look herself.
"Bai Jiu what did you do? Where is Yan Yan?"
Bai Jiu only smirked and wrought Madam Wen's hands away.
"You'll never find out. Maybe right now she's long on that road to receive Meng Po's soup [1]."
Madam Wen felt her knees weaken.
Then suddenly a voice she dreaded sounded from the door.
"Who's long on that road to receive Meng Po's soup?"
"JunXi!"
Both Madam Wen and Bai Jiu spoke in shock.
"JunXi ge ge, you're finally back. I have great news; our son is finally born! Let's go see him. Madam Wen gave him to housekeeper Wei to feed, he should be full now. While we see him, we should discuss when we will get married."
Bai Jiu spoke while skipping her steps toward Wen JunXi.
If there was one thing Madam Wen admired at that moment. It was the completely gall and the audacity of Bai Jiu to speak all these words toward Wen JunXi, thinking she had finally succeeded in finally attaining him.
The aftermath of those words probably would haunt her until the end of her life.
