Chapter 15 - Take Me To Gradenhill

Sire watched Nathan lead the horse to the front of the cottage. It was morning and he was taking her to that kind miss. She had a blissful smile etched on her face as she followed behind him to the path leading away from the cottage. She walked to stand by it once he stopped.

Nathan studied the girl. Who'd been following him and the horse excited. He couldn't help but notice how bright her golden eyes were. Her round face and her peach pink lips. The way she smiled. It was definitely the first time Nathan noted himself thinking about how beautiful and innocent the girl was. Her hair was braided back by him. The unruly strands staying around her face. Sire pushed the strands behind her ear. Her smile growing even more genuine and beautiful. Nathan definitely didn't miss the shimmer in her eyes. This girl was just so different. So like the sun in someone's darkness. He couldn't help but think about how she'd gotten to the woods all bruised up. With nothing but a memory of a far away home she wished to return to without help.

"Sire?." He called the girls attention.

"Hmm?." Sire looked at him.

"Do you remember anything about how you got here?." He asked and noticed that the girl immediately froze. She looked away.

"Oh that. I~i don't think i~."

"Don't remember?. Nothing at all?." His gaze hardened and the girl refused to look up at him.

Sire gulped down her spit. She'd thought Nathan was over it about asking. If there was anything she didn't want to remember now was her departure from that far away land. Or how long it was taking for her to return.

Nathan narrowed his eyes at the girl who seemed so lost in thought. Was it perhaps what he'd asked?.

"Sire? You're awfully quiet and its disturbing. Do you by any chance remember anything you're not telling me?. If you really wish for me to take you home you're going to have to be less secretive you know." Nathan turned back to the horse. Petting it gently.

Sire smiled brightly. It confused Nathan when he saw how quick the fearful look in her eyes disappeared. Replacing it with an excited look. Like that of a little girl getting all the type of treats she could get at a fair.

"Well why would i be partner?!." She stepped closer to him. "If there was anything i remember i would be so sure to inform you!. By the way.." She slipped behind him. Giving him a little push. "Don't you think you should climb up our majestic horse? The chariot won't have the grace enough to wait a little for me. Go on." Sire smiled at confused Nathan. "Well then." Saying this she turned and made her way up the horse. This time not allowing Nathan see her struggle. The girl made her self comfortable. With a smile raised one of her arms as if declaring war and yelled,

"Take me to Gradenhill!!."

~~~
Sire's eyes roamed about the town. The place didn't look all that different from the last time she'd been here. It was a sunny place for he higher class.
Nathan didn't miss the glares and whispers as he rode Sire to the chariot stand. Were he hopped the chariot heading for the estate was still available.
"Yes shes the one.."
"The commoner who had trouble with lady Gertrude.."
"I wouldn't call her a commoner. Why she Was helped by the young ms of the Silvester family..."
"Lady Vivian?.."
"Why yes of course.."
Those where the whispers of the women they passed.
Nathan climbed down the horse. Reaching out to help Sire. He wasn't sure why but the girl smiled then climbed down on her own. Ignoring his outstretched hand.
"Okay. That was a ride. Not too fast but not too slow either." She said turning to walk away from him towards the horses. Silently,Nathan grabbed her wrist,pulling her closer to himself. The aim being to avoid her from being hit by the chariot.
Sire stared into his silver eyes. His hand was placed at her back. Pushing her closer to rest on his firm chest. For someone who lived in the woods,he had quite a luxurious scent. One sweet and manly. It immediately filled her nostrils sending her heart to skip a few beats and race faster. Noticing how close they were she came to study his face at a closer view. His skin was pale and added even more to his demonic beauty. The girl blinked innocently, her lips parting as he let go of her. She stepped back. Confused at what had just happened.
Nathan stepped forward, he towered himself over her. His hands slipping behind her neck. Sire felt a cold metal rest on her skin and the warm brush of his fingers on the back of her neck. He went ahead to push her hair behind her ear then whispered,
"Keep this on at all times." Saying this he stepped away and walked towards the chariot. Sire blinked once more. She lowered her head to look down at the necklace Nathan had just given her. It had a golden chain and a blue gem. Quite small but pretty. "Will you wait there all day or have you decided not to go?." Nathan's question snapped her back to reality.
"Oh~umm.Coming!!." Quickly tucking the necklace in her cloak the girl turned and hurried to where Nathan stood.
"Wait here."He informed her before leading the charioteer away from the chariot. Nathan placed a hand on the man's shoulder. "How much for a ride to Gradenhill Estates?." He asked.
"A few gold coins will do." The man replied. He then looked around. Then slowly pushed away Nathan's hand. "Why bring me this side?." The man raised a brow. "How much are you offering the girl?." He asked with a smile. Nathan played along. He chuckled looking up at the man. He placed his hand on the man's shoulder again. His gaze darkened as he said.
"Say that again and give yourself the honor of having your throat slit by me."
The man shuddered in fear. A chill going down his spine. Anyone would have taken a strangers threats as empty but for some reason,this man sent shivers directly down his spine.
"Lo~look mr~."
"Get the girl to the estates." Nathan said coldly. He pushed the man towards the chariot ignoring whatever he wanted to say.
Sire climbed the chariot. Sitting by the window.
"I guess I'll be leaving now." She said. Nathan nodded.
"Be good." He said. She smiled. Sire was starting to think he wouldn't say anything before she left. She waved as the chariot headed out.
