Chapter 17 - Silvester Mansion

Vivian stared directly at the girl sitting in front of her in the carriage. She picked up one of the carriage pillows and held it close to herself. Leaning forward, she smiled at Sire.

"I really don't know what to say. I'm really happy to see you. Its quite a pleasant surprise if i must say." She leaned back. "I was just returning from the office and i usually do in quite a heavy mood. You changed that today. I am reaching my home in a happier mood." The girl's smile grew wider.

Sire stared at her. Slightly tilting her head. "You work?." She asked.

Vivian wasn't quite expecting the question but she was quick to answer. "Why of course. I graduated from school not too long ago and i suggested i do something instead of sitting around in dresses and makeup. Waiting for some man to come and ask for permission to take me away isn't just my calling." She raised her leg a little and crossed it on the other. Placing her elbow on her knee and supporting her chin. "Besides that is the boring part of life. I can't risk it." She smiled more genuinely. Before Sire could say anymore the carriage stopped. Perhaps they had reached their destination. Sherman climbed down from the coachman's seat.He went to place a stool for the ladies before opening the door. Sire peeked from where she sat. Taking a glimpse of where they'd arrived. Vivian turned to her. "Come on now. You ought to see my home." She said hurrying to step out of the carriage. She didn't waste any time on the stool so as to give Sire space to climb down.

Sire slowly climbed down. Stepping on the stool she lifted her head to stare at the environment. The mansion was huge and white. Its pillars were made of marble and a couple of stairs led to the huge doors of the mansion. Sire's mouth fell agape at the place. It looked more like a palace than a mansion. Quite bigger and finer than the others. With a wider courtyard and a few rarely seen statues. Probably imported. She thought.

"Umm..miss?Are you alright?." Sherman asked when he'd bowed for a longer period and noticed the lady unmoving. Sire snapped out of thought and was quick to step down the stool. Vivian, who was already in the middle of climbing the stairs turned at Sherman's words. Sire rushed to meet up with her so she wasn't left behind. Vivian twisted the door handle and gave her and her guest access into her home.

"I tell you times without number Katherine, that lady Rosslyn prefers sunflower's to the hibiscus. Be quick now and replace the flowers which you've kept in her room." Vivian and Sire were welcomed by the sight of Benjamin, the mansion's butler scolding one of the maids.

"Benji!!." Vivian called with a wave walking towards the tall and lean man who stood with his head low and eyes closed. He hadn't noticed the young lady's presence until she called him by Benji. What only her did. The man turned and his eyes softened. He stood and bowed instantly. Both his arms alined to the sides of his body. His hair was combed back neatly and he looked smart in his uniform.

"Welcome back ms. Silvester." He said plainly taking a little extra time before he came to stand straight.

"Why thank you Benji." The girl replied cheerfully.

Sire noticed as Benjamin's brows furrowed in question. "Why this merry milady? Did you perhaps receive any messages from the heavens at work today?."

"Hmm." Vivian nodded. "Surprisingly i did. Since you noticed my change of mood today i owe you an explanation."

"Why certainly."Replied the butler jokingly.

Vivian grabbed Sire's wrist and pulled her closer so Benjamin could see. The man raised a brow at the girl who looked strangely dressed. The girl avoided to look at him and immediately bowed. Just like he'd done when Vivian approached him.Only, the length at which the girl bowed frightened him. He was afraid she would crash to the ground.

"Good evening. It has been a pleasure to meet you Benji." Sire greeted and the butler's eyes grew wide. Had the girl called him Benji?!

Sire lifted her head to meet with the shock in that of the butler's. Confused she turned instantly to Vivian who burst out laughing.

"Oh Benji. Please pardon my friend here. You see,she is the reason for my mood and i am most definitely sure she isn't aware that i am the only person with the right to call you Benji. Forgive her for my sake. I will correct her quickly." She turned to Sire still with a smile. Vivian led her up the stairs as she spoke. Benjamin's eyes followed them all the way.

"I don't understand. Isn't Benji the man's name?." Sire asked looking at Vivian. The girl nodded.

"It indeed is but, that man is our family's respected butler and he is referred to as Mr Rhodes by the others. Only i call him Benji. He must have been thrilled by that." She explained to her. Sire turned away. Now knowing why the man had found it shocking.

They soon arrived a door in one of the halls. Sire watched as Vivian twisted this door knob as well. They got in. It was Vivian's room Sire guessed. The place was big and had an outer chamber where a visitor to her room could sit before seeing her. There was a couch and a fur rug spread in the middle. On the other side of the room there was a shelve which contained alot of books. Not too far from there she could sight a table with alot of maps and papers. Not being allowed to explore the room Sire was dragged into the inner part of the room. Vivian closed the door behind them. Now the bedroom was even bigger. With a soft looking canopy bed who's curtains where white in color. Even the sheets and pillows were white. Three shelves, a chest at the foot of the bed a dressing table. Not too far from there, there was a glass door which led to the balcony. The white silky curtains dancing around there.

"Please, sit. You are welcome to my room..." Vivian froze on realizing her lack of knowledge on what the girl's name was. "You,you didn't tell me your name now did you?." She furrowed her brows.

Sire shook her head. "I'm afraid not. By the way I'm Sire. You are?."

"Sire."Vivian said the name quite to herself. "You do have an interesting name. Either ways i am Vivian Lisa Silvester. Happy to have you in my home." She smiled before asking. "Would you be leaving anytime soon?."

Sire shook her head at the girls question. "I believe not."

"Well we thank the heaven's for that." Vivian smiled again.

There was a silence of about two seconds before Sire asked. "What kind of work do you happen to do?."

Hearing her ask Vivian said, "Well i am an astrologist. I study the stars and heavens. The great beyond above us. The headquarters isn't too far from this estate. Its located in Pearlbrich and since i have an uncle there father didn't mind me working there." On hearing the girl speak of the stars Sire felt her interest lift.

"You study the heaven's? Has there been any recent messages from there? Perhaps one you couldn't translate? I am really good at it. If you would let me."

Vivian scratched her head. "I haven't had access to the messages in a while now. I'll check and let you know." Hearing the girl say this,Sire relaxed a little. There was a knock on the door and then Benjamin said.

"Sorry to disturb my lady but your presence is indeed needed."

Hearing him speak Vivian sighed she rose from where she was seated. "Coming Benji!!." She turned to Sire. "Please feel free to explore." With a smile the girl exited the room.
