Chapter 4 - The Bandits and Friend

"Well shit, where in Manicheism am i?" scratches Auyu her head cause to the confusion on which direction she should proceed. As she have sat on a tree kicking her legs toward the air.

"For moon's sake, i should have asked Idun on where a human town is at least. Those books were interesting to read..." reminiscing Auyu of the books that she had hobby of indulging as Idun often would leave the mansion to get some ingredients and finding more of those entertainment for her.

That's how she learned many habits of the human world. Such as 'gamer's ettiquettes' and 'comedy' as she assumed, there were also some idioms and expression that her father taught her, that's why Idun knows a lot about it as well.

"Right, i think i'll find the 'noisiest place' then i'll decide what to do next" I decided on what my goal as it's the best way to start something when lost in a forest. Which i started carefully walked without any significant presence as if i'm only a passerby leaf.

As a vampire, it's fundamental to learn about senses and detection. As they are proficient in having extraodinary senses that make them a dangerous foe, This is also necessary when surviving during the daylight.

While in this forest, there are many savage beasts and the expecially dangerous ones are wolves, dodos, feral bearclaws, you might wonder what are the latter are. A little fun fact according to the book; 'Guide to the wildlife' Dodos are your typical chickens like creatures that goes in pack except they have shark-like teeth which can bite off any tendons of any other creatures. The author of this book therorized that the chickens must have evolve in such a way that provoke their 'fight or flight' instinct, which they chose the former, in order words it's kill or be killed for them.

As for the Bearclaws, they are bears with deadly claws that are shaped like-scythe, since bears are already proficient in slapping people, with added sharpness earned them the title of apex predator in this forest. The same author also added; 'bearclaws are of similar descent of prehistoric 'The Giant Claw', perhaps they have the same genes'

I thought the author seems quite an interesting individual, but Idun who brought the book from the town nearby said it was only a nonsensical rambling that was only sold for 10 silvers.

But, i thought otherwise as the author in question must have been a researcher from a foreign land. But speaking of the creatures.

The reason i haven't encountered any dangers yet is because these creatures habits is not to look for trouble, unless they are threatened or aren't malnurish.

Plus, with my skills as an above average vampire, my senses are decent enough to where i can avoid certain danger that doesn't involve using eyesight to risk exposing myself.

And i'm not a person who looking for a fight, unless i have a clear goal in mind or it's an enemy i must eliminate, which in this case would slow down my progress.

In other words, as long they don't become tedious with me, i won't give them a tedious time.

"aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" a distant scream far away that sounded a bit husky, i thought. As i picked up with my senses. It was definitely a humanoid one.

I decided to go check it out, because it was a 'noisiest place' in the forest currently and it would save me the trouble of having to find the town.

I had hidden myself among the tall ferns and trees, and controlling my own motion as to blend in with the enviroment to not stand out, and finding where are the bearclaws nearby in preparation before finally observing my surrounding to make sure it wasn't a ploy or trap that could make it more troublesome.

I sat in silence as the scene of robbery was happening in front of my very eyes, with a gleeming flash that observed everything and their dialogue.

"W-why are you doing this?! If the association find out, they will definitely send a hunting order to avenge me!" uttered the fashionable young man with dark murky blue clothing made of wool that possibly were from an extravagent caddle, it wouldn't be impossible to mistake him for a nobility, but it seems he became a caddle himself. In front of the bandits that wore wild hide and pelts that seems have a history of crimes, deducted Auyu by the numbers of scars they harbor.

"Kakaka, it's over for you Voldur. You've messed with the wrong people, as long we done you in here and put up a scene with traces of wild predators. No one will know of how you die." shouted the bandit leader with tattoos and war paint all over his head. But he is not Auyu's kind of type. She remarked to herself.

"Who ordered you? We can talk this out, i can bargain for my life..." The young man with grey hair was drenched in sweats and holding back his tears. He seems a bit too young to be riding on carriages on his own?

"Enough talking, you don't get it do you? You were sold out, so much for a humble merchants..." said the bandit leader mockingly with his eyes filled with greed and mouth spoken with sneers and apathy.

"Get him, boys." commanded the bandit, just as the young man felt his life flashes before his eyes as multiple rowdy and rough looking men about to mutilate his body with their sharp weapons.

Before he could blink or closed his eyes in an inevitable end, a certain cold feeling touched his hands and the shadows of the weapon that was about to slash at him hesitated.

It was...a girl? No wait, it seems a bit weird for a girl to appear in front of him with such dark and cute dress. He almost convinced himself it was some kind of illusion if not for the feeling and his eyes making such detailed analysis.

"Come with me, if you want to live." spoke Auyu carefully and monotoniously as to quickly flee from the scene. The Bandit Leader although was shocked he still ordered his men to pursue both of them.

A wild goose chase has begun, and although the bandits are slower than Auyu, they are closing the gap due to their height differences and having more experience traversing the forest.

"L-leave me be! i don't want to involve a bystander in this, that's one rule i have!" spoke the young man in a hurried tone and while shaken, his eyes seems to have a resolute gaze as if he is certain with his words.

But Auyu ignored it, because she isn't a heroine nor someone that comfort others. As she run for a while with the young man with blue clothing. Just as they were about to outran the pursuers.

Auyu tripped on a branch like a clown.

With her falling down, so does the one next to her. Which halted their progress in a dense part of the forest.

With this, the young man in question thought.

"We're screwed!"
